Reason Behind Sanju Samson's Fallout With Rajasthan Royals Management: "Decision To..."
"As previously reported here, Samson has made a formal request to the Royals management stating that he is seeking a new direction. There have apparently been many issues of differences between RR and Samson, one of which was the management's decision to release Jos Buttler," the report said.
Earlier this year, Samson had indirectly criticised the management's desicion of not retaining Buttler, who spent seven seasons at the helm before being released before the mega auction last year.
"Letting him go has been one of the most challenging decisions for me. During the England series, I told him over dinner that I was still not over it. If I could change one thing in the IPL, I would change the rule of releasing players every three years," Samson had told Star Sports before last IPL season.
Samson, who has been part of the franchise for the past 11 years, has urged RR to either release him or let him enter the bidding war ahead of the upcoming auction. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have reportedly shown their interest over a possible trade with RR for Samson.
While CSK, for weeks, have appeared to be the front runners in the race, the chances of Samson joining the five-time champions are a bit slim now.
RR had asked CSK for either Ravindra Jadeja or Ruturaj Gaikwad in exchange for Samson. However, CSK have already rejected his request.
"With the letters sent directly to franchise owners, details have largely stayed under wraps. However, it is learnt that a potential trade with the Chennai Super Kings - widely speculated in recent days - could be a long shot, as the Royals are believed to have asked for either Ravindra Jadeja or Ruturaj Gaikwad, both deal-breaking terms that the Super Kings are not ready to entertain," the report said.

Elsewhere off the field, part of Samson's focus might well be on his future in the IPL, where he has made clear his desire to part ways with Rajasthan Royals despite having their captaincy ahead of IPL 2026. Trades are being considered, with teams such as CSK and KKR weighing up their options.

Venkatesh Prasad set to contest in KSCA elections
Bengaluru: Former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad is set to contest in the upcoming Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) elections, which is tentatively to be held between October and November. Prasad, a well-experienced coach, selector and administrator, had served as a vice-president from 2013 to 2016 when Anil Kumble was the KSCA president. But since then Prasad stayed away from administration to focus on a coaching career along with dabbling in the media world as a pundit and commentator. The 56-year-old, a former India bowling coach during the 2006-2007 season, was also in the coaching staff of Punjab Kings nee Kings XI Punjab. Prasad will have veteran administrator Vinay Mruthyunjaya on his side. Mruthyunjaya is a former KSCA treasurer and a member of the BCCI Finance Committee. It has been learned that Prasad and Mruthyunjaya will announce the full set of their panel in the coming days. The term of incumbent KSCA regime headed by Raghuram Bhatt will end on September 30. The present set of officials are standing on the firing line after 11 fans died during the stampede near the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4 while gathering to take part in the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL victory celebrations.

Several pictures had circulated on social media where Sreesanth was seen crying after the incident. Sreesanth also admitted that Harbhajan didn't him intentionally that evening. "When I told my daughter, 'This is Bhajji pa, he's played with me', she straight away said, 'No, no, I won't say hi'. I couldn't understand why. In school, there may have been the odd conversation about it. There are different stories doing the rounds. Then we tried explaining, but she said she still won't talk to him. The next day, when the legends tournament was going on, we explained that he was like our elder brother. I don't think Bhajji pa did that deliberately. It happened in the spur of the moment. It was just a learning experience for both of us," Sreesanth told cricket commentator Padamjeet Sehrawat on his YouTube channel. "One thing I'd want to change in my life is that incident with Sreesanth. I want to remove that incident from my career. That is the incident I would change from my list. What transpired was wrong and I shouldn't have done what I did. I apologised 200 times. What I felt so bad was even years after that incident, I have been apologising every opportunity or stage I get. It was a mistake," said Harbhajan on Kutti Stories with Ash.
