Ukraine drone attack disrupts Volgograd railway power, Russia says
There were no injuries as a result of the attacks, the administration said on the Telegram messaging app, citing Governor Andrei Bocharov.
Russia's defence ministry said on Telegram that its air defence units had destroyed nine Ukrainian drones over the region. In total Russia downed 99 drones overnight over 12 Russian regions, the Crimean Peninsula and the Black Sea, the ministry said.
Russia's civil aviation authority Rosaviatsia said on Telegram that it had suspended flights soon after midnight at the airport in the city of Volgograd, the administrative centre of the Volgograd region. The flights had not resumed on Sunday morning.
Because of the attack, trains were delayed in parts of the region, RIA state news agency reported.
The extent of the damage inflicted by the Ukrainian drone attack was not clear. The Russian defence ministry reports only how many drones its units destroy, not how many Ukraine launches.
There was no comment from Ukraine. Kyiv has often said that its attacks are in response to Moscow's relentless strikes on Ukraine since Moscow invaded in 2022 and are aimed at destroying infrastructure key to Russia's war efforts.

Mr. Trump said Monday during a meeting with U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer that the most countries that did not reach trade deals with the U.S. by his administration's deadline of Aug. 1 would face a 15% to 20% tariff. Last week, he had mentioned a broader range of 15% to 50%. The European Union reached a trade agreement with the U.S. over the weekend, and Japan, the Philippines, Indonesia and U.K. also have trade deals with the U.S.

Trump Threatens India With Steep Tariffs, Including ‘Penalty' Over Russian Oil
President Trump announced Wednesday morning that imports from India into the United States would be subject to a 25 percent tariff as of Friday, as he berated the country over trade barriers and its purchases of energy and military equipment from Russia. A 25 percent tariff would be just one percentage point lower than what the president threatened India with on April 2, when he announced plans for sweeping tariffs on dozens of countries. It's also significantly higher than the rates Mr. Trump has settled on for other Asian nations like Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Japan — all of which have been 20 percent or less. In recent years, some companies have been moving factories out of China to India, making it a base of production for electronics, pharmaceuticals and other products for the U.S. market. Industry analysis shows that this year India is making more smartphones than China, or any other country. But if a 25 percent tariff were to apply long term, that could encourage businesses to set up export operations in other Asian countries instead. 'WE HAVE A MASSIVE TRADE DEFICIT WITH INDIA,' Mr. Trump wrote on Truth Social. He followed quickly with another post, saying that the United States had done 'relatively little business' with India over the years 'because their Tariffs are far too high.' Mr. Trump also criticized India's economic ties with Moscow, saying it was 'Russia's largest buyer of ENERGY, along with China, at a time when everyone wants Russia to STOP THE KILLING IN UKRAINE.' Trump Says India Will Face 25% Tariffs, Plus Penalty for Buying Russian Goods
President Trump said the U.S. would penalize India for buying Russian arms and energy as part of a tariff package that would kick in after Trump's Aug. 1 reciprocal tariff deadline, appearing to undercut hopes for a trade deal he has said for weeks was close to being finalized. In a post on his Truth Social network, he said India was a friend of the U.S. but criticized high Indian tariffs. 'INDIA WILL THEREFORE BE PAYING A TARIFF OF 25%," Trump posted, adding that India will also pay a "penalty" for buying Russian goods. The 25% tariff represents a slight modification of the levies that were already set to take effect this week. In April, Trump had set the tariff on Indian imports at 26% before pausing them to allow for negotiations. The Indian rupee dropped against the dollar.
