MOTAC committed to improvements to MM2H programme
He said the enhanced MM2H programme is shaping up to be one of the world's premier long-term residency platforms, offering Platinum, Gold, and Silver tiers to cater to the diverse needs of high-net-worth individuals, families, retirees, and digital nomads.
'It is more than a visa – it is a comprehensive lifestyle proposition encompassing premium living standards, internationally accredited healthcare, quality education, safety, and seamless ASEAN connectivity,' he posted on Facebook on Thursday.
Earlier, during his working visit here, Tiong launched the Maybank Premier MM2H – Your Gateway to Malaysia promotional event, held in collaboration with Maybank Singapore.
At the event, the minister encouraged Singaporeans not only to visit Malaysia but to consider it as their next strategic base.
He highlighted that Malaysia offers an attractive extension to their lifestyle and business ecosystem—providing cost-effective living, premium infrastructure, and access to broader regional markets without compromising on quality.
'Malaysia is more than a destination – it is a strategic choice. Choosing Malaysia as your second home means gaining access to one of Southeast Asia's most liveable, well-connected, and investment-friendly countries,' he was quoted as saying in a MOTAC statement.
MOTAC said the collaboration with Maybank Singapore provides participants with access to trusted financial advisory services and seamless onboarding support, making it easier for Singaporean clients to explore MM2H options with confidence and convenience.
The event was held in two sessions, with over 60 participants attending the morning session and more than 140 in the evening, demonstrating strong and sustained interest in the MM2H programme among Singaporeans.
In 2024, Malaysia welcomed 18,855,680 visitors from Singapore, a 27.2 per cent increase from 2023 and surpassing the pre-pandemic 2019 figure by 10.7 per cent.
Singaporean visitors also contributed RM27.94 billion in tourism receipts in 2024, an increase of 29.5 per cent from the previous year.
MOTAC said the MM2H programme has similarly drawn strong interest, with Singapore ranking as the third-highest source country for applications in the first quarter of this year -- trailing only Taiwan and China.

A HUMAN resources executive and her three relatives had been looking forward to a holiday in Japan this year, but the trip did not materialise. Koh Ching Ting said the eight-day vacation to Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka was supposed to have taken place from March 24 to 31, leaving from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). 'We had been attracted to a package promoted by a woman who had claimed to be the person in charge of the trip,' Koh said when met outside the Johor Consumer Claims Tribunal at Menara Ansar, Johor Baru. 'All together, we paid RM17,776 for four persons,' said the 36-year-old claimant. 'We were attracted to the packages after listening to my mother's friends who had gone on vacations arranged by the respondent,' said Koh, adding that the previous groups had only praises for the respondent who had arranged their trips to Vietnam in October 2024 and February 2025 'However, the woman contacted us on March 21, three days before our departure saying that there was a change of plans,' she added. Koh and her family were told by the respondent that instead of flying to Japan from KLIA, they would have to depart from Singapore's Changi Airport on May 25, and the tour of the three Japanese cities would be extended to April 1. The claimant said they agreed to the new departure date and flight arrangements. However, on March 23, the respondent called Koh to cancel the trip altogether. 'The respondent claimed that the Japanese ground agents were against the idea of Malaysians and Singaporeans, numbering about 30 people, travelling as a group,' Koh said. The respondent promised to refund Koh on April 1. 'I received RM2,000 from her on April 4, and she promised to settle the RM15,776 on May 6. 'However, by May 2, she was not reachable,' said the claimant. Koh said some of the affected holidaymakers received full refund, the others got only partial refund. Tribunal president Hafez Zalkapli ordered the respondent to refund RM15,776 to the claimant within two weeks. He was referring to World Tourism Day 2025 and World Tourism Conference 2025, both scheduled to be held in Melaka in September. 'Let World Tourism Day in Melaka be the moment we inspire the world, showing that Malaysia is ready to lead, ready to welcome, and ready to shape the future of values-driven, meaningful travel,' he said, adding that last year alone, Melaka welcomed 15 million visitors, generating RM12.68 billion in tourism revenue - a significant milestone under the Visit Melaka Year 2024 campaign. Melaka launches over 800 initiatives for WTD and WTC 2025
MELAKA: The Melaka government has introduced over 800 initiatives in conjunction with the upcoming World Tourism Day (WTD) and World Tourism Conference (WTC), scheduled to be held in September. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the initiatives were designed to enhance connectivity, accessibility and cultural engagement. 'As we approach WTD 2025, we are proud to unveil even more special programmes, including exclusive promotional accommodation packages, RM10 admission tickets to selected key attractions and RM10 curated menus at participating restaurants. 'Other initiatives include premium golf promotions at four prestigious golf courses in Melaka, revival of traditional games like Dam Aji and Konda Kondi, especially for youth and family tourism, and employment of two additional Melaka River Cruise boats to enrich the river tourism experience.' He said this in his speech during the pre-launch of WTD 2025, WTC 2025 and the 17th anniversary of Melaka's recognition as a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) World Heritage City in Banda Hilir here tonight.
