Three ex-senior leaders at hospital where Lucy Letby killed seven babies are arrested
Three former senior leaders at a hospital where Lucy Letby worked have been arrested in connection with alleged manslaughter.
The three were members of then senior leadership team at the Countess of Chester Hospital in 20015 and 2016 but have not been named. They were arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter.
It comes after Letby, 35, was found guilty of murdering seven children as well as attempting to murder seven more between June 2015 and June 2016. She had been working at the neonatal unit at the hospital at the time, reports the Mirror.
All three ex-members of the senior leadership team who were arrested have been bailed.
Letby was made the UK's worst serial killer in modern times after carrying out the killings at the hospital.
Following Letby's conviction, police started investigating any possible corporate manslaughter offences at the hospital. An inquiry was later widened to find if anyone was guilty of gross negligence manslaughter.
Detective Superintendent Paul Hughes, Senior Investigating Officer for Operation Duet said: "In October 2023 following the lengthy trial and subsequent conviction of Lucy Letby, Cheshire Constabulary launched an investigation into corporate manslaughter at the Countess of Chester Hospital.
'This focuses on senior leadership and their decision making to determine whether any criminality has taken place concerning the response to the increased levels of fatalities.
'In March 2025 the scope of the investigation widened to also include gross negligence manslaughter. This is a separate offence to corporate manslaughter and focuses on the grossly negligent action or inaction of individuals.
'It is important to note that this does not impact on the convictions of Lucy Letby for multiple offences of murder and attempted murder. As part of our ongoing enquiries, on Monday 30th June three individuals who were part of the senior leadership team at the CoCH in 2015-2016, were arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter.
'All three have subsequently been bailed pending further enquiries.
'Both the corporate manslaughter and gross negligence manslaughter elements of the investigation are continuing and there are no set timescales for these.
'Our investigation into the deaths and non-fatal collapses of babies at the neo-natal units of both the Countess of Chester Hospital and the Liverpool Women's Hospital between the period of 2012 to 2016 is also ongoing.'
The guilty verdict of Letby has sparked several medical experts to release a report claiming she committed no criminal offences. These claims have been argued against by other medical professionals as well as families of the victims.
Letby is now being held at HMP Bronzefield, in ashford, Surrey. The prison is an adult and young offender female prison.

Four bodies found after baby girl strapped to car seat in stranger's garden
The infant was found alone in a yard by a local resident earlier this week. A baby girl's parents, uncle and gran have been found dead after the infant was discovered strapped to a car seat in a stranger's garden. The Dyer County District Attorney's Office confirmed that the girl's parents James Wilson, 21, and Adrianna Williams, 20, were found dead. Cortney Rose, 38, and Braydon Williams, 15, the baby's maternal grandmother and uncle, were also found dead. Officials discovered two vehicles connected to the family, a black Dodger Charger and a White SUV, near the crime scene. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigations is now leading the investigation with assistance from the Dyer County Sheriff. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigations said: "The investigation, including efforts to identify and apprehend the suspect or suspects, remains active and ongoing." The investigation is active and ongoing. In an update shared today, the sheriff's department issued details of a suspect wanted by officials. Austin Robert Drummond is wanted on suspicion of first-degree murder, kidnapping and several other charges. He was described as 5'10 with brown hair, blue eyes and a goatee. They said his appearance might have been altered, according to officials. Police said he should be considered armed and dangerous. Dyer County Sheriff Jeff Box said on Monday: "This is a deeply saddening day for our community. We are committed to uncovering the truth and ensuring justice is served." Lucy Letby colleague wins legal case over hospital visits probe
A former colleague of Lucy Letby has won a High Court claim against the NHS trust where he works over an investigation into what he knew about the killer nurse when he arranged for her to visit another as Dr MN because he testified at Letby's first criminal trial, he said the trust, which also cannot be identified, breached his contract because of how it proposed to investigate consultant had formerly worked at the Countess of Chester Hospital on the same neonatal unit as Letby - who is serving 15 whole life terms for murdering seven babies and attempting to murder six Justice Sheldon ruled in the doctor's favour at the High Court earlier. The court was told that after moving to another hospital, Dr MN had arranged for several supervised visits for Letby to the new hospital in late 2016 and early had told his trust's deputy chief medical officer about his involvement in the trial and how he was involved in supervised visits for Letby at the trust's chief medical officer prepared a draft letter saying he was content Dr MN "had no knowledge of the circumstances surrounding Letby at the time of the visits", Mr Justice Sheldon wrote in his judgment.A few days later, however, the trust received a complaint from a mother of a baby who had been treated by Dr MN which alleged he shared confidential information about her son with Letby by email and Facebook. 'Term of contract' The trust then told Dr MN it wanted to investigate him over what he knew about Letby when she visited their MN said the trust breached its employment contract because it wanted to appoint someone other than its chief medical officer to oversee the judge ruled: "It is a term of Dr MN's contract of employment that the case manager should be the medical director, in this case, the chief medical officer, for the matters that are the subject of the present investigation."Letby, 35, who has always maintained her innocence, lost two bids last year to challenge her convictions at the Court of Criminal Cases Review Commission, which investigates potential miscarriages of justice, is reviewing her convictions. P Diddy files for acquittal or a retrial over two prostitution related charges
Sean 'Diddy' Combs' has filed for an acquittal or a retrial over the two transportation to engage in prostitution charges relating to ex Cassie Ventura and a woman named Jane Sean 'Diddy' Combs' legal team have filed for an acquittal or a retrial. The disgraced rapper was found guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution, relating to ex girlfriend Cassie Ventura and another woman referred to as Jane. Earlier this month, he was found not guilty of racketeering and of sex trafficking Ventura and Jane. He dropped to the floor as the verdict, decided by eight men and four women, acquitted him of the most serious counts. The court heard how he flew people around the country, including his girlfriends and paid male sex workers, to engage in sexual encounters, a felony violation of the federal Mann Act. It comes after Combs was denied bail following the end of his two-month long trial. In a statement shared with the Mirror, Combs' team said: "This prosecution was unprecedented. This verdict is unsound. And this conviction, rooted in a misapplied, overbroad statute, should not stand." According to court documents from this week, Combs' attorneys have argued he did not violate the Mann Act. It is a federal law that makes it a crime to transport someone across state lines for illegal sexual activity. 'To our knowledge, Mr. Combs is the only person ever convicted of violating the statute for conduct [for] anything like this,' the motion states according to Page Six. It continues: 'It is undisputed that he had no commercial motive and that all involved were adults. The men chose to travel and engage in the activity voluntarily. 'The verdict confirms the women were not vulnerable or exploited or trafficked or sexually assaulted during the Freak-Offs or hotel nights. And Mr. Combs never had sex with the supposed 'prostitutes.'' They went on to claim Combs "typically hired the services of male escorts or dancers advertised openly through lawful businesses" for Freak-Offs with Ventura and Jane. "The men were paid for their time," the motion said, 'and they enjoyed the activities and had friendships with Ms. Ventura and Jane and were not merely traveling to have sex for money.' Combs' lawyers argued that the partial conviction violates his First Amendment rights. The documents added: 'The Freak-Offs and hotel nights were performances that he or his girlfriends typically videotaped so they could watch them later." They said Combs was "producing amateur pornography for later private viewing since the films depicted adults voluntarily engaging in consensual activity." Combs' lawyers said if an acquittal is not granted then they would like a retrial "due to severe spillover prejudice from reams of inflammatory evidence." They made reference to footage from 2016 taken from hotel CCTV showing Combs attacking Ventura. 'This evidence, particularly the Intercontinental footage, was admissible only because of the RICO and sex-trafficking charges,' the filing said. 'It would never have been admitted at a trial solely on the Mann Act counts, as it was irrelevant and unfairly prejudicial. Under the Second Circuit's 'retroactive misjoinder' doctrine, a new trial limited to evidence admissible to prove the Mann Act charges is warranted.' Combs is currently behind bars as he awaits his sentencing. It is scheduled for October 3.
