Police update on people seriously hurt in A541 Bodfari crash
The incident occurred in Bodfari, Denbighshire last night (Wednesday, April 23) which resulted in seven people being taken to hospital.
Police were called at 7.40pm following a report of a collision involving three vehicles – a silver Mercedes A200, an Audi Q3 and a silver BMW 118.
The emergency services attended the scene – including the Air Ambulance, NPAS (National Police Air Service) helicopter and the Forensic Collision Investigation Unit.
As a result of the collision, police say:
• A 12-year-old girl remains in hospital with life threatening injuries
• A 13-year-old girl remains in hospital with serious injuries. Both girls were passengers in the Audi Q3
• The female driver of the Audi remains in Aintree Hospital with serious, life-changing injuries
• The female passenger from the Audi remains in hospital in Stoke with serious, life-changing injuries
• The male driver of the Mercedes remains at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd with serious, life-changing injuries
• The 20-year-old driver of the BMW, who was initially taken to hospital with slight injuries, was later arrested on suspicion of causing serious injuries by dangerous driving. He has since been released under investigation
• The male passenger of the Mercedes, who was also arrested, was later taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd where he remains with serious injuries
Detective Sergeant Katie Davies of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: 'Our thoughts remain with all who are in hospital, and I would like to stress that the investigation to find out what happened is now underway.
'We'd like to thank all those who have already contacted us, however we continue to urge anybody who may have information that could assist with our investigation to come forward.
'This includes anybody who may have been travelling in the area and who may have dash cam footage showing the silver BMW 118 and Silver Mercedes being driven prior to the collision.
'I would like to thank the local community and motorists for their patience whilst the road was closed to allow our officers and staff to carry out their initial enquiries.
'And I would like to remind the public that our teams are undertaking a careful and thorough investigation, and as arrests have been made, I would urge the public not to speculate or make any comments on social media that may prejudice any future potential legal proceedings.'

A second woman was still reported to be in the water. A major rescue operation was launched involving the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team, Air Ambulance and Coastguard Rescue Helicopter. Despite valiant efforts by the rescue teams, both women were sadly declared dead at the scene. A spokesperson for North Wales Police stated: "Police were called at 9.31pm following a report that one female had been pulled from the water, and another was reported to be in the water at the pools on the Watkin Path. "The Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team were dispatched to the area along with North Wales Police, the Air Ambulance and the Coastguard Rescue Helicopter. "The second female was pulled from the water, however, despite the best efforts of all involved both were pronounced dead at the scene." Detective chief inspector Andy Gibson of North Wales Police said: "Our thoughts and sympathies remain with the families and friends of both women. Article continues below "An investigation to establish what happened is now underway. "We are appealing for anyone who may have been walking in or around the Watkin Path area between 6pm and 9pm last night, they are urged to contact North Wales Police via the website or by calling 101 quoting reference number 25000480868." The Coroner for North Wales has been informed. The Watkin Path is one of the six main routes to the summit of Yr Wyddfa. It ascends steeply to up the southern slopes, crossing loose scree before joining the Rhyd Ddu Path to the summit. The national park describe the route as a "particularly challenging route" and it's categorised as "hard/strenous". Article continues below It warns walkers considering their first hike up Yr Wyddfa might benefit from trying alternative paths. It added: "The terrain will include steep hills and rough country and may include some sections of scrambling. Full hill walking gear is essential, and specialist equipment might be required under winter conditions."
