We've known since the Super Bowl that the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles will host the 2025 season opener in Week 1 on Thursday, September 4th. On Monday, May 12, it was revealed that the Eagles would square off against their NFC East rival Dallas Cowboys. The game will kick off at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.

Each team receives a bye week.
Teams alternate seasons where they host nine regular season games and one preseason game or eight regular season games and two preseason games.
Each team has six games against divisional opponents - two against each team, one at home and one on the road.
Each team has four games against teams from a division within its conference - two games at home and two on the road.
Each team has four games against teams from a division in the other conference - two games at home and two on the road.
Each team has two games against teams from the two remaining divisions in its own conference - one game at home and one on the road. Matchups are based on division ranking from the previous season.

It didn't take long for the Detroit Lions to find a backup plan at center. According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, the Lions have signed offensive lineman Trystan Colon to a one-year deal. Colon, 27, has played in 51 NFL games for two teams over five seasons, most recently for the Arizona Cardinals in 2024. He was undrafted out of Missouri in 2020. Advertisement Colon, formerly known as Colon-Castillo, played in all 17 games for the Cardinals in 2024, making a career-high seven starts. He has made four career starts at center, all with the Baltimore Ravens from 2020-22, and 11 starts at right guard from 2023-24 with the Cardinals. The signing follows the retirement of longtime Lions center Frank Ragnow, who announced his retirement via Instagram on Monday. Ragnow, a first-round pick in 2018, was the Lions' starting center from 2018-24, making 96 starts. ANALYSIS: Lions lose one of their most critical players. The road to the Super Bowl just got harder. Among the options the Lions are considering to replace Ragnow is 2025 second-round draft pick Tate Ratledge, who has been taking snaps at center during organized team activities. Ratledge primarily served as a right guard in college for the Georgia Bulldogs, but has been praised by members of the Lions staff for his versatility. Oregon Football's Kenyon Sadiq pegged as breakout NFL draft riser for 2025 In 2025, all signs point towards Kenyon Sadiq becoming a household name for the Oregon Ducks. With his talent, Sadiq would have been most anyone else's starting tight end for the past two seasons, but he had to play a backup role to Terrance Ferguson. Now it's his time to shine. Sadiq is one of the more experienced receivers on the Duck roster this coming season, and he's expected to have a breakout season in 2025. As a result, with his size, NFL scouts should have a field day rating him. Sadiq will be a hot commodity when the NFL draft rolls around. According to USA TODAY writer Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz, Sadiq could go high in the 2026 NFL selection process. "With second-round tight end Terrence Ferguson and top receivers Tez Johnson and Traeshon Holden off to the NFL, the Ducks are set for a reconfiguration in their receiving corps," he said. "Big things are expected of Evan Stewart as the former five-star recruit enters his second season in Eugene after transferring from Texas A&M, but Sadiq might be the true wild card for the offense. "At 6-3 and 245 pounds, he's a more formidable run blocker than his size might suggest. His true value, however, lies in his ability to create mismatches as a supersized receiver with impressive long speed. Sadiq will have to show he can handle being a featured part of the Ducks' offense and develop into something more than a seam threat, but he's one of the most intriguing draft-eligible tight ends to keep an eye on." The Oregon offense isn't expected to change a whole lot with quarterback Dante Moore under center, but just because of Sadiq's pure talent, the Ducks might go to him more, especially in the red zone and goal-line situations. He showed what he can do in those situations in the Big Ten title game, as he scored two touchdowns in the win over Penn State. The Georgia Bulldogs have offered a scholarship to four-star linebacker recruit Thomas Davis Jr., who is the son of Georgia football legend Thomas Davis Sr. Georgia is making a late push for Davis Jr. The four-star linebacker committed to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish back in November, but Georgia has a strong pitch to land the talented linebacker prospect. Advertisement Georgia helped develop Davis Jr.'s father, Thomas Davis Sr., into a first-round pick in the 2005 NFL draft. Davis Sr. played safety at Georgia from 2002-2004. He changed positions to linebacker in the NFL and blossomed with the Carolina Panthers. Davis Sr. played for Carolina for 13 seasons and made three Pro Bowl appearances. At Georgia, he was selected to the All-SEC first team in 2003 and 2004 and earned a consensus All-American selection in 2004. We'll see if Davis Jr. wants to follow in his father's footsteps or if he prefers to blaze his own path. Regardless of what he decides, Davis Jr. is expected to make a name for himself. Davis Jr. plays for Weddington High School, which is located in Matthews, North Carolina. Davis Jr. is the No. 170 prospect in the class of 2026. He is the No. 11 linebacker in the nation and the No. 11 recruit in North Carolina. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound linebacker is exactly what Georgia is looking for at the position. Davis Jr. is a versatile athlete that runs track and plays basketball in addition to playing football. The Bulldogs produced two linebackers as first-round picks in the 2025 NFL draft in Jalon Walker and Mykel Williams (arguably a defensive end).
