Cox has Coppull booked for Prix Morny mission
'He's in great form and we were very pleased that race took place before the rain fell at Goodwood,' said Cox, reflecting on his colt's Group Two success on what was a miserable afternoon subsequently interrupted by heavy rainfall and lightning.

'I've been delighted with how he has come out of that and all being well he will head to the Prix Morny where he won't be penalised for his success, it's a well-trodden path.
'I would be very hopeful conditions remain dry and even though his sister has won on soft ground he has very much been at home on a quicker surface.'
Coppull's two-length triumph over Aidan O'Brien's Puerto Rico confirmed the promise of his fine third in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot and it is the form of that contest – with recent Phoenix Stakes scorer Power Blue behind in fifth – which is convincing Cox he has a smart juvenile on his hands.
'His form was boosted again at the weekend by the Amo horse who was behind us at Ascot and I see no reason to be anything but pleased with the progress our horse is making,' continued Cox.
'He took the step up to Group Two in his stride and that has vindicated a further step up at this stage.'
Among the Morny opposition is set to be the Wesley Ward-trained Outfielder, who is part-owned by MLB Hall of Famer Jayson Werth, who has recently played a starring roll in the Netflix series 'Race for the Crown'.

Manchester United target Carlos Baleba valued at more than £100m by Brighton
Carlos Baleba, the Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder, is valued by his club at more than £100m, although Manchester United are currently unwilling to buy at that level. The two clubs have not spoken directly about the player at a level that would suggest a deal is imminent with Baleba, 21, currently priced above what United would be prepared to pay this summer. He is the midfielder that United's Ineos hierarchy would wish to sign were they not operating within tight profitability and sustainability lines already. Brighton have made no moves to sell the player, who was a key part of their Premier League team last season, but as a trading club they would have to listen to offers at the kind of level that would get close to the club-record £115m fee Chelsea paid for Moisés Caicedo. Tony Bloom, the owner, would, as ever, have the final say on acceptable price. For United, Baleba is a player of great interest and is entering a period in his career where his value could conceivably climb again with another successful season – potentially putting him out of range. The club need a midfielder of his profile but ultimately it was decided to put resources this summer into signing attacking players, culminating in the £73.7m deal to sign the Slovenian forward Benjamin Sesko. Brighton are in a strong position thanks to such progress by the player early into his five-year deal, giving them the option of turning down offers this summer. There is an argument that United would be better served looking in the same European market for a player of similar promise, although few have done that as well as Brighton. They also have a number of options for his potential successor. Baleba has missed much of Brighton's pre-season with a knee injury sustained in June, but it is expected that he will be match-fit in time for the first game of the season against Fulham, having returned to training. Baleba will at some point be the next major Brighton sale given the range of his ability and the impact he made last season. He was another astute pick uncovered in France by the club's data analytics in the 2022-23 season. He was signed on the basis of just 21 senior Ligue 1 appearances for Lille, as well as 13 games for Lille B in the French fifth tier – the sum total of his European football experience at that point having left Cameroon in January 2022. His great appeal is his ball-winning skills as well as the energy and guile that means he can break out of midfield. His adaptability across a number of positions, and his left-foot preference, also raises the premium on him. United must make sales as well, with both Liverpool and Chelsea having done so effectively this summer – and Manchester City in previous years. Currently, United and Chelsea are some distance apart on their valuation of Alejandro Garnacho, the Madrid-born Argentina international, one of those cast out by Ruben Amorim. The 21-year-old is valued at about £30m by Chelsea, with a lower bid from Bayer Leverkusen in the previous January window serving as a benchmark. There is also hope that Rasmus Hojlund might generate a fee, although the Italian market for him is currently offering loans.

Man Utd told to take immediate action after Man City deal to 'guarantee' top-five finish
Manchester United have been told that signing Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa would be enough to secure a top-five finish, and a spot in the Champions League Manchester United have been advised that they can secure a top-five finish by making one more crucial signing; Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez. Ruben Amorim has been hard at work reshaping his squad this summer following a lacklustre first season in the Premier League. United 's attacking prowess has been significantly enhanced with the signings of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko. Brighton star Carlos Baleba is also on United's radar as they aim to bolster their midfield options. However, Amorim still faces a conundrum in goal as he seeks to provide competition for current No. 1 keeper Andre Onana. The Cameroonian sat out United's pre-season due to a hamstring injury and was guilty of several high-profile blunders last term. Paris Saint-Germain 's Gianluigi Donnarumma has been touted as a potential addition at Old Trafford. However, French newspaper L'Equipe reports that an agreement has already been reached between him and local rivals Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola seemingly set to thwart any move to United, despite having already brought back James Trafford from Burnley this summer. Ex-United and Wrexham shot-stopper Ben Foster has now urged his former club to refocus their attention on signing Villa's Martinez. A loan switch for the Argentinian was mentioned earlier in the transfer window, and was reportedly turned down by Villa. Foster reckons he could be the crucial component to help United secure a top-five finish this season, which would now guarantee them Champions League football for the subsequent campaign. Speaking on his Fozcast podcast, he said: "United have got a better chance of doing it this year. I've loved United's transfer window. I think it's taken them and changed them from having another mid-table disappointment of a season to genuinely looking like competing alongside Newcastle and Villa. "I think that if United get off to a good start, they can finish fifth this season. If they get another goalkeeper in, and if Emi Martinez has signed for Man United, they finish fifth this season." Martinez sparked concerns amongst Villa supporters that he was poised to depart the club after what seemed to be an emotional farewell at the conclusion of last season. As he left the pitch following the final home match of the campaign, he tearfully gestured to the fans before heading off the pitch. Villa are believed to have informed United that it would require an exceptional bid of around £40million to part with their first-choice keeper. Last month, The Athletic reported that the club would not be pursuing Martinez further due to the asking price and substantial wage demands. Meanwhile, former Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos has suggested that United should consider signing Inter Milan goalkeeper Yann Sommer. "I think Yann Sommer is a very, very experienced player and a calming presence," Senderos told BoyleSports. "He makes the defence better because of that presence. "I can't really judge Andre Onana in this situation, but if United were to target Yann Sommer, I'd really believe he'd add invaluable experience. "It's about how he is as a person, how he is on the pitch. He's a great character and amazing in what he brings to a defence. We've seen it with Inter Milan and Bayern Munich the year before." Celtic are 'well positioned' in the race to sign French centre-back Etienne Youte this month, but will face strong competition from two European clubs, according to a new report. Earlier this week, a report from France had claimed that head coach Brendan Rodgers was ready to rival both Anderlecht and Besiktas for the 23-year-old, who is out of contract at Stade Oceane next summer. The Hoops boss secured the season-long loan signing of Manchester City centre-back Jahmai Simpson-Pusey just last week, though Celtic remain keen to bolster their options in defence ahead of the transfer window slamming shut on September 1. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad A regular for Le Harve last year as they escaped relegation from Ligue 1 on the final day of the season, the player recently admitted that a move may be on the cards this summer, telling the French press: 'I know now that I have to be patient before making a decision. For the moment, I'm here and I feel good within this group. I'm preparing for the season. If there are interesting offers for me and for the club, we will find an agreement together." Etienne Youte celebrates a goal during his spell at Inter Milan's youth academy. | Getty Images Youte, who joined the Inter Milan youth academy in 2019 after beginning his career with Troyes in the French second division, has also spent time with Greek Super League club Olympiacos, where he played regularly for their B team prior to his move to La Havre in 2023. However, the Scottish champions interest has seemingly been confirmed by Italian transfer guru Rudy Galetti, who said: 'Celtic's interest in Etienne Youte has been long-standing. The Scottish club has been tracking the Le Havre centre-back for over a month, with initial contact dating back to late June. The player is entering the final year of his contract with Le Havre, and for this reason, he can leave for around €5million (£4.3million). That is well below his market value due to his contract situation. 'Besiktas are also interested in him, remaining in the race, and Anderlecht are also in the race, and this makes the situation more competitive and complex, for sure. At the moment, Youte's future is still undecided. Celtic are well-positioned in the race, but everything is still open. And the preference of the player and also an eventual offer on the table will make the difference in this deal. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad
