Raiders S Chris Smith II doesn't do himself any favors in preseason Week 1
Jeremy Chinn and Isaiah Pola-Mao are the expected starters. Chinn played just nine total snaps versus the Seahawks, indicating the coaching staff is confident in his abilities. Pola-Mao played a sizable 40 snaps and made an impact, making this gorgeous diving interception on an early Seahawks drive in Raiders territory.
Meanwhile Smith played 45 snaps, more than both Chinn and Pola-Mao. The former Georgia standout struggled to make the desired impact. Pro Football Focus assigned him an overall defensive grade of 55.7. Smith was credited with one tackle, but he also missed a tackle.
The Raiders could probably use another veteran addition at safety. Smith did not perform admirably enough to indicate he's capable of giving Pete Carroll and Patrick Graham meaningful snaps this season. Additional training camp practices and preseason games will tell a more complete story, but as of now, the Raiders are going to miss Johnson at safety.

Seahawks OC Klint Kubiak praises Anthony Bradford
The Seattle Seahawks entered training camp holding competition at two positions on the offensive line. Olu Oluwatimi and Jalen Sundell were battling at center. Anthony Bradford and Christian Haynes were competing at right guard for a second straight offseason. With the regular season roughly one month away, both spots are all but settled. Bradford is the heavy in-house favorite to win the starting job. The Seahawks' coaching staff has consistently praised Bradford this offseason for the improvement he's displayed. Offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak had great things to say about his third-year blocker during Tuesday's 17th training camp practice. "AB [Bradford] has made great strides," Kubiak said. "Obviously he's a physical presence, but you see more consistency in his game throughout camp, so I see a guy that's playing more confident." Bradford struggled mightily under then-OC Ryan Grubb at right guard last season. The former LSU blocker was benched on multiple occasions. Pro Football Focus assigned Bradford an overall offensive grade of 48.3. The hirings of Kubiak and offensive line coach John Benton have seemingly given Bradford new life. The 2023 fourth-round selection appears to finally be showcasing the improvement the Seahawks hoped he'd show last season. Bradford could be poised for a breakout year.

Greg Roman: Regardless of Najee Harris Status, Chargers Will Have RB 'Rotation'
National Football League Greg Roman: Regardless of Najee Harris Status, Chargers Will Have RB 'Rotation' Published Aug. 13, 2025 10:54 a.m. ET share facebook x reddit link Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator Greg Roman wants to run the football, and it will happen either with or without Najee Harris, who is still recovering from a July 4 fireworks eye injury. "There will be rotation no matter what happens. … the day of the one running back taking every rep, it's kinda gone the way of the prehistoric creatures," Roman said on Tuesday, according to Blue Wire. Last week, a photo surfaced of Harris that showed him appearing to have difficulty opening his left eye. The Chargers lost their lead 2024 running back, J.K. Dobbins, to the AFC West-rival Denver Broncos in free agency, while No. 2 back Gus Edwards remains a free agent. The Chargers prioritized revamping their running back room this offseason, most notably signing the aforementioned Harris (one-year, $5.3 million deal) and selecting North Carolina running back Omarion Hampton with the No. 22 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Harris, a 2021 Pro Bowler, rushed for 1,078 yards and seven touchdowns per season on 3.9 yards per carry across his four-year stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers (2021-24). Last season, Harris ranked 14th among running backs with a 77.9 overall grade, according to Pro Football Focus. ADVERTISEMENT Across his final two seasons at North Carolina (2023-24), Hampton rushed for 1,582 yards and 15 touchdowns per season on 5.9 yards per carry, while leading the ACC in rushing yards in both seasons. Elsewhere, the Chargers' running back room also includes veteran Nyheim Hines, second-year player Kimani Vidal and Hassan Haskins, who played for head coach Jim Harbaugh at Michigan. In 2023, Brandon Staley's last season as head coach, the Chargers rushed for just 96.6 yards per game, good for 25th in the NFL. In their first season with Harbaugh at the helm and Roman calling plays (2024), the Chargers rushed for 110.7 yards per game, good for 17th in the sport. Across Roman's four seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens (2019-22), they led the league in rushing yards twice and ranked in the top three in all four seasons. "Don't have to make that decision right now," Roman said about who will be his No. 2 and 3 running backs this season. "Just keep working, keep evaluating, keep trying to get better, see how it all fits together when the decision needs to be made." The Chargers open their 2025 regular season against the defending AFC-champion and AFC West-rival Kansas City Chiefs in Brazil on Sept. 5. Want great stories delivered right to your inbox? Raiders' Brock Bowers has a new haircut after record-setting rookie season
Raiders' Brock Bowers has a new haircut after record-setting rookie season originally appeared on The Sporting News Brock Bowers is making a big change after a record-setting rookie season for the Las Vegas Raiders. He got quite the haircut. Bowers' hair was threatening to recede already, so he went with the simple option: a shaved head. Raiders fans all over social media were getting pumped about Bowers' decision. It shouldn't really impact him on the field one way or the other, but that's OK. He's already a superstar at the tight end position. MORE: Shedeur Sanders shows his NFL Draft slide might've been a mistake As a rookie, Bowers had 1,194 yards receiving. That broke Mike Ditka's long-standing record by 118 yards. The next record Bowers can set his sights on is the single-season receiving yards record for any tight end. That's held by Chiefs legend Travis Kelce, at 1,416. ESPN's Seth Walder predicts Bowers to break it, if not this season, than in the next few. "The start to his career needs no introduction: He had 1,194 receiving yards as a rookie, meaning his upside is literally record-breaking potential," Walder wrote. MORE: Taylor Swift is coming on Travis Kelce's podcast The Raiders took Bowers as the No. 13 overall pick out of Georgia in 2024. People have seen his potential coming since the moment he stepped on campus in Athens as a freshman. Bowers is 6-foot-4, 230 pounds and even was handed the ball for running plays at times as a rookie. Now, he's got a legitimate NFL quarterback in Geno Smith, too. The sky is the limit, especially with a smooth top of the head to keep Bowers light, aerodynamic and ready to dominate the league.
