He urged people to take part in the drive, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, highlighting its role in increasing oxygen levels and restoring forest cover.
Speaking to ANI, Sanjay Kumar Nishad said, '... I thank the Prime Minister's vision and 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' that CM Yogi Adityanath is also following... Due to the decrease in trees, carbon dioxide is increasing... I appeal to people to sow a sample today. I also hope people will save animals... The increased oxygen levels are proven scientifically, and this is due to this campaign...'
Earlier on Sunday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced to planting of over 37 crore saplings on July 9 to bolster PM Modi's 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative.
The Chief Minister urged people to take part in a state-wide tree plantation drive on July 9 from 7 AM to 7 PM. He also encouraged people to plant a tree and share a selfie to spread awareness.
While virtually addressing the meeting, Yogi Adityanath said, 'If we plant flowering trees on the roads' median and give the responsibility of protecting them to NGO or other organisations, it will give out a good message. We have to do it on expressways, highways, interstate connectivity or municipality roads... I appeal to everyone to join the campaign on 9th July from 7 AM to 7 PM, and take a selfie after planting a tree...'
The Chief Minister said that the state will plant over 37 crore saplings in a single day on July 9 as part of the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, launched on June 5, 2025, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision.
He called the initiative a growing success and urged public participation.
'The mission that we started following the vision of PM Modi on June 5, 2025, 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' is reaching newer heights of success. On July 9, over 37 crore saplings will be planted in a single day in Uttar Pradesh under this campaign,' CM Yogi said. (ANI)

Bolivia heads to presidential run-off as MAS ends two-decade rule
La Paz [Bolivia], August 18 (ANI): Bolivia is heading to a presidential run-off between a Centrist and Right-wing candidate, marking the end of nearly two decades of government by the Movement for Socialism (MAS), the country's electoral council more than 91 per cent of ballots counted on Sunday night, preliminary results showed centrist Rodrigo Paz of the Christian Democratic Party (PDC) leading with 32.8 per cent of the vote. Conservative former interim President Jorge 'Tuto" Quiroga, of the Alianza Libre coalition, trailed in second place with 26.4 per cent, meaning he will face Paz in a run-off on October 19. Candidates needed to surpass 50 per cent, or 40 per cent with a 10-point margin, to avoid a Jazeera's Latin America editor Lucia Newman, reporting from Santa Cruz de la Sierra, said the early results confirmed that MAS, which has governed Bolivia since 2005, is 'out of the picture".Newman added that the 'biggest surprise" is 'that the frontrunner is none other than somebody who was polling between fourth and fifth place up until now". She also noted that Paz is 'more to the centre" than his father, former President Jaime presidential candidates were in the running, spanning the far-right to the political left. Pre-election polls had suggested Samuel Doria Medina, a wealthy businessman and former planning minister, as one of two frontrunners alongside Quiroga. Former leftist President Evo Morales was barred from running, and outgoing socialist President Luis Arce, who had fallen out with Morales, opted out of the race, Al Jazeera division within the leftist coalition, coupled with Bolivia's deep economic crisis, meant few expected MAS to return to power. Official results are expected within seven days. Revenue loss from GST changes may touch ₹1.1 trillion; UBS downplays fiscal impact
The fiscal impact of the proposed Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate rationalisation remains acceptable and will result in an estimated GST revenue loss of 1.1 trillion per year or 0.3 percent of GDP according to according to a UBS report revealed. In the year 2026's financial year the company anticipated a deficit of Rs 430 billion which is 0.12 percent of GDP that could be covered by surplus cess collection and an increase in dividends than budgeted by the Reserve Bank of India. The UBS GST report, which was reported by ANI pointed out the fact that the GST overhaul India would be more effective in promoting consumption than personal tax cuts or tax cuts for corporations, since it directly affects the spending on the spot of purchasing. In a report of the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy which stated the fact that "the GST multiplier stands at -1.08, higher than the multipliers for personal income tax (-1.01) and corporate tax (-1.02)." PM Modi to address top military commanders in Kolkata next month
For the first time after the major success in Operation Sindoor against Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to address the top military brass in the Combined Commanders' Conference planned to be held in Kolkata in the third week of September. The conference is attended by all the top Commanders of the three defence forces along with the civilian bureaucracy of the Defence Ministry. The Prime Minister is expected to address the top Commanders on national security-related issues and give out his vision for the forces in future, defence sources told ANI. The Prime Minister is also expected to be given a detailed presentation on the creation of three Theatre Commands as part of the higher defence reforms to enable forces to fight future wars jointly and efficiently. The basic groundwork for the Theatre Commands is being done by the Integrated Defence Staff under Chief of Defence Staff Gen Anil Chauhan . The IDS is now also working towards incorporating the lessons learnt from Operation Sindoor into the structure of the commands' structure. Live Events The military is also looking towards enhancing the operational role of the Chiefs of Defence Staff-led Chiefs of Staff Committee, they said. The Theatre Commands were planned to be set up at three locations, including Jaipur, Prayagraj and Karwar. The commands would be responsible for the Western, Northern, and maritime borders, respectively. Another major presentation to be made to the Prime Minister would be on the indigenous weapon systems and platforms built under Make in India in the country. The forces are preparing a detailed presentation on the performance of the equipment during Operation Sindoor as well as the future programmes in this domain. The BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, along with many loitering munitions like the Nagastra, were used to destroy the terror and Pakistmilitary targets in Pakistan. A small number of indigenous weapon systems may also be showcased during the event planned for the first time in Kolkata. The Prime Minister would earlier address the Combined Commanders' Conference annually, but now it has been made once every two years. The Defence Minister had last year addressed the Joint Commanders' Conference in Lucknow, during which he gave the forces his directives and vision for national security.
