Dudhwa fest to show UP's culture, wildlife

Lucknow: In a major push to boost tourism and showcase the state's cultural heritage to a global audience, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the inaugural Dudhwa Festival—Uttar Pradesh's first residential cultural and wildlife event.Set to take place at Dudhwa Tiger Reserve from Nov 14 to 16, the three-day celebration will highlight the state's rich biodiversity, vibrant traditions and Tharu culture and performances by renowned artists.Principal secretary, tourism, Mukesh Meshram, said the festival will establish UP as a multi-dimensional tourist destination. Expected to draw over 2,000 visitors, it will spotlight cultural heritage, nature, Tharu tribal traditions, cuisine, handicraft and wellness. Tourists can enjoy camping in over 200 tents in three categories, besides homestay facilities with local Tharu families.He added that wildlife safaris will also be available, with guided tours showcasing the biodiversity of Dudhwa. The festival will feature performances from renowned national artists, covering classical, folk and global beats, in main stage, techno stage and photography and lifestyle zone to attract music lovers and youth but also provide a memorable experience for youth and nature enthusiasts.Yogi govt plans to strengthen rural economy through strategic branding with launch of merchandise such as mugs, t-shirts, jackets and helmets featuring wildlife illustrations and slogans.Artists set to perform on main stage include Shubha Mudgal, Kailash Kher, Rishabh Sharma, Don Bhatt, Brodha V, Ginni Sujan, Kaushiki Chakraborty, Paresh Pahuja and Ram Sampath.The techno stage lineup includes Nucleya, Anyasa, Anish Sood Vedang, Paradox, Jazzy B Cratex, Tiësto, Ma Faiza Sambata and Karan Kanchan. In photography and lifestyle zone, Arzoo Khurana, Sudhir Shivaram, Shwetambari Shetty, Bani J, Shenaz Treasury, and Ujjwal Dubey will be featured.

Ghaziabad : For the first time since its construction in 2020, the Kailash Mansarovar Bhawan in Indirapuram's Shakti Khand-4 will be officially used this year as the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is set to resume after a five-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The first batch of pilgrims are set to arrive by June 11. Mukesh Meshram, principal secretary for Tourism, Culture and Charitable Affairs, visited the Bhawan on Wednesday to assess preparations and directed officials to ensure all facilities are fully operational before their arrival. "Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims should not face any problem in any form. All necessary arrangements must be in place, including transportation, food, rest, and cleanliness," Meshram said during the inspection. The Yatra is scheduled from June 11 to Aug 26, and the facility will now receive groups of 50 pilgrims at a time. This year, 5 batches of 50 Yatris, and 10 batches of 50 Yatris, are scheduled to travel. District tourism officer Suresh Rawat told TOI "Pilgrims will stay for four days at the premises to complete formalities. "We have instructed officials to start making arrangements to ensure that lights, air-conditioners, and all other electrical fittings are fully functional. Food and first-aid arrangements are also being made to ensure their stay is comfortable and safe," said DM Deepak Meena. Mesharam instructed officials to ensure that the rooms, toilets, and electronic appliances like ACs, fans, and lights are properly maintained. He also emphasised uninterrupted water and electricity supply, as well as timely completion of any pending works by the State Construction Corporation. "Special attention should be paid to cleanliness and beautification of the premises," he added. The four-storey facility was developed over 9,000 sqm at a cost of around Rs 57.9 crore, and can accommodate up to 272 people. It also includes parking for 188 vehicles.

1 2 Varanasi: Sites in Kashi region associated with saints, including ashrams, gurudwaras, temples and monuments will be developed by tourism department to boost social and cultural harmony as well as local economy. To prepare comprehensive plan for submission to state govt, tourism department has sought details from culture department of all such places in the four districts of Varanasi division by Jun 10. In view of Yogi Adityanath govt's focus on preserving and strengthening religious, cultural and spiritual heritage of Purvanchal, tourism department has started exploring possibilities of developing centres associated with saints, Jain pilgrimage, Valmiki ashrams, sites associated with Kabir sect and gurdwaras in Varanasi division. Idea behind the initiative is to promote religious harmony, cultural tourism and social cohesion, apart from contributing to the region's economic development, said deputy director (tourism) Rajendra Rawat. He added that tourism department had written to offices of cultural department in districts, requesting submission of information on the sites identified by Jun 10. 1 2 Varanasi: Improved connectivity in the city during eight-year regime of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has now started yielding positive results, especially in tourism sector. Tourist footfall crossed 8.94-crore mark in 2023 and exceeded 11 crores in 2024. A massive rise of number was evident in arrival of foreigners too. Deputy director (tourism) Rajendra Kumar Rawat said number of domestic and foreign tourists visiting Varanasi was 8,94,73,626 in 2023, which increased to over 11,00,97,743 in 2024, an increase of approximately 18.73% in number of domestic and foreign tourists and 18.68% increase in domestic tourists. Compared to 2023, there was an increase of 20,516,082 Indian tourists in 2024, while the number of foreign tourists increased by 108,035. People associated with tourism sector feel projection of the city as 'Brand Banaras' made such an impact on the international tourism map in past eight years that tourists from around the world were increasingly drawn to Kashi. Yogi govt rapidly transformed Kashi's appearance, restoring its ancient glory. Kashi became modern while retaining its historical significance. As Kashi changed its image, world was drawn to Banaras. Industry people said development works required to boost tourism in Kashi weren't seen before the Yogi era. There has been significant improvement in Kashi's law and order, connectivity (road, rail, air) and basic facilities. They added that after changing atmosphere in the state, inauguration of the Kashi Vishwanath Dham corridor with added facilities by Prime Minister Narendra Modi did wonders. Renovation of ghats, cleanliness and modern amenities attracted tourists, leading to continuous record increase in number of tourists in Kashi. Influx of tourists to Varanasi had been increasing steadily over past few years. Along with setting a record in tourist numbers, there is positive impact on tourism industry and Kashi's economy. In 2024, number of Indian and foreign tourists increased by 2,06,24,117 compared to 2023, with a 34.85% increase in foreign tourists, said Rawat.
