Palestinian Journalist: The Way Of The Leaders of Hamas, Hizbullah And The Entire Resistance Axis Is Very Far From Allah And Leads Only To Death

Memri20-03-2025
In a February 26, 2025 article on the Elaph website, Palestinian journalist Majdi Al-Wahhab slammed the leaders of Hamas, Hizbullah and the entire resistance axis, stating that only getting rid of them will save the Arab nation from the situation it has reached. These leaders, he says, purport to raise the banner of resistance and liberation, but actually lead only to destruction and death. They also pretend to champion Islam, but are actually far removed from the righteousness and the compassion that characterize this religion.
Focusing on Hizbullah secretary-general Hassan Nasrallah and Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, both of whom were killed by Israel in the course of the war, Al-Wahhab points to the discrepancy between their names and their deeds: The name Nasrallah means "Allah's victory," but Nasrallah and his organization are "very far from Allah, from His Names and from His attributes," and the name Yahya means "he will live," but the path of Hamas and the resistance axis leads only to death. These leaders, says Al-Wahhab, should be stripped of their names, for they are not worthy of them. He calls on the successors of Nasrallah and Sinwar to learn from the ways of the donkeys, who know how to overcome obstacles and difficulties, and exhorts them to lead their people to "a safe haven, far from wars and destruction."
The following are translated excerpts from his article: [1]
"Let me begin by apologizing to an animal we like to call stupid [i.e., the donkey] although, by Allah, it is smarter than many people who live among us or who have passed away… and who bear one of the Names of Allah [2] or one of the names of the Prophets. For example, the one who bore the name Nasrallah [i.e., Hizbullah's slain secretary-general Hassan Nasrallah, whose name means 'Allah's Victory'] or the one who bore the name Yahya [3] [i.e., slain Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar], who are very far from Allah, from His Names and from His attributes, and very far from the prophets, their vision and their righteousness.
"This may be a harsh description of some of the leaders of the Arab world, starting with Hassan Nasrallah and Yahya Sinwar, and many others of those who bore and still bear the banner of resistance, liberation and war, but [actually] bear only the banners of destruction, extermination and killing and, by Allah, are not worthy of their names.
"These leaders have not learned [a lesson] and will never learn, so only being saved from them – and Allah has already saved us from several of them – will extract the [Arab] nation from the state to which it has come, as we see in the Gaza Strip and in Lebanon. They insist that they are raising the banner of Islam and of Allah, [but they do so only] in words, not in deeds, for they are [actually] devoid of any compassion, empathy, wisdom or moderation. Perhaps they should study the Names of Allah, in order to become familiar with the path of righteousness.
"I urge these leaders, the ones who still remain, to learn from the donkeys, who are famous for their ability to overcome obstacles they encounter on the road. They carry their owners on their backs and bring them home safe and sound, even if the road is rocky. This is a call for the successors of Nasrallah, Yahya [Sinwar] and others to behave like donkeys, and [then] they may be worthy of their names and realize that the way they chose and continue to choose leads only to death. For there can be no life amid devastation, war, killing and bloodshed, and there is nothing better than moderation, prudence, wisdom, compassion and life.
"This is a call to divest [these leaders] of the names of Allah the Almighty and of the prophets, and start calling them by the names they deserve. Many have already done this very successfully by calling Nasrallah by the names he deserves. [4] So perhaps we should be creative and choose fitting names for Sinwar and his successor. Let's strip them of their names in order to save ourselves from them, or [so that] Allah will save us from them, and find our way to righteousness and to life. Perhaps we should [do so] riding donkeys, which can tread a tortious path in the mountains and valleys until they reach a safe haven, far from wars and destruction."

[2] The reference is to the 99 Names of Allah, such as Al-Rahman, "The Compassionate," or Al-Aziz "The Great, the Strongest," many of which are part of Arabic personal names.
[3] In Islam Yahya is the name of John the Baptist, who is considered a prophet.
[4] For example, some have called Nasrallah "Nassralat," an allusion to the pre-Islamic goddess Alat.

Iraqis protest at Egyptian Embassy in Baghdad, demand Rafah crossing opening

Baghdad ( – Hundreds of Iraqis gathered last night, Saturday (July 26, 2025), in front of the Egyptian Embassy in Baghdad, protesting to demand that the Egyptian government open the Rafah crossing to allow humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. Among the demonstrators was Iraqi-British doctor Mohammed Taher, known for his humanitarian work in Gaza last year. Several other Iraqi activists involved in aiding the Palestinian people also participated in the protest, underscoring widespread public concern over the humanitarian situation in the besieged enclave. Ahmed Ali Al-Yasiri, one of the protestors interviewed by IraqiNews, expressed strong condemnation of the situation. 'We condemn the Egyptian government's actions of preventing aid from passing through the Rafah border entrance, and we call on our Egyptian brothers to act swiftly and let the aid into Gaza,' Al-Yasiri stated. These protests in Baghdad are not isolated. They reflect a global outcry, with demonstrations frequently taking place in numerous cities across the world, from London and New York to Amman and Jakarta. Activists and citizens worldwide are consistently urging their governments and international bodies to pressure for increased humanitarian access and an end to the crisis in Gaza, making the opening of border crossings like Rafah a central demand.

Turkish FM: Gaza ceasefire talks stopped on 3 points

Shafaq News – Ankara On Saturday, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan revealed that negotiations over a ceasefire in Gaza are stalled over three key points. In a televised interview, Fidan explained that the first point of contention concerns how humanitarian aid will be distributed in Gaza and which party will oversee it after a ceasefire is declared, noting that Hamas wants the United Nations to handle aid delivery, while Israel opposes this arrangement. The second issue relates to the withdrawal of Israeli ground troops from Gaza and the locations where those forces would redeploy. The third and most disputed point reportedly involves Hamas's demand for Israel to commit to maintaining the ceasefire terms even after all Israeli hostages are released. Earlier, US President Donald Trump claimed that Hamas 'never truly wanted a deal,' a day after American and Israeli delegations withdrew from the Doha talks on prisoner exchange and a ceasefire in Gaza. He announced that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should escalate military operations in Gaza. 'It got to a point where you have to finish the job. You're gonna have to get rid of Hamas… now they are going to be hunted down.' However, Egypt and Qatar clarified in a joint statement that the pause in negotiations was merely to allow for consultations before resuming dialogue, calling it a normal step in a complex negotiation process between Hamas and Israel. #MOFAQatar — Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Qatar (@MofaQatar_EN) July 25, 2025 Hamas official, Izzat al-Risheq, rejected the US claims, saying they contradict the assessments of the mediators and do not reflect the actual progress being made in the talks.

Lebanon uncovers alleged Hamas cell as Israeli violations persist

Shafaq News – Beirut The Lebanese Army has allegedly dismantled a secret training camp operated by Hamas and al-Jamaa al-Islamiyya in western Lebanon, according to reports published by Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper and Al Hadath TV on Saturday. Citing military sources, the outlets reported that the facility was equipped with weapons and used to train Lebanese and foreign nationals. More than ten individuals were detained—most of them from Beirut, along with several of Jordanian nationality—in a case that, according to the sources, reflects a sustained commitment to a military course and renewed efforts to rebuild combat capabilities. Some were described as sons of fighters killed in the recent Israeli war that resulted in thousands of casualties, including women and children. According to the same sources, this operation followed an earlier raid carried out weeks ago in the Aitat area of Mount Lebanon, where a Hamas-linked cell had reportedly rented an abandoned house in Jurd Aley for training purposes. That group was said to be in contact with Palestinian camps across the country. Ten individuals were arrested—seven Lebanese, one Palestinian, and one Jordanian—and light weapons were confiscated. Neither the Lebanese Army nor government officials have commented on the reported incidents. These revelations come amid heightened media focus on Palestinian and Lebanese factions. Saudi-owned Al Arabiya and Al Hadath recently accused Hezbollah of preparing for a confrontation with the Lebanese state, alleging that its military wing had refused to disarm, even if Israel were to withdraw from Lebanese territory. The Lebanese party dismissed the allegations as 'fabricated lies,' confirming that the networks are pushing 'suspicious agendas aimed at sowing confusion and destabilizing Lebanon.' Meanwhile, Israeli military activity in southern Lebanon has intensified. Earlier today, a Lebanese civilian was killed in a drone strike targeting a vehicle on the Twairi–Srifa road in Tyre district, according to the Ministry of Health. The Lebanese Army, in a separate incident, reported that an Israeli drone carrying a grenade crashed on the outskirts of Meiss El Jabal, calling the incident a flagrant violation of Lebanese sovereignty. Army engineers secured the area, detonated the grenade, and transferred the drone to a specialized unit for analysis. — الجيش اللبناني (@LebarmyOfficial) July 26, 2025 Between November 27, 2024, and June 30, 2025, Israel committed 3,799 violations of the ceasefire agreement, including 1,771 ground incursions, over 1,916 airspace breaches, and 112 maritime violations—resulting in 195 deaths and 433 injuries.
