Ganga Saptami holds a great religious and spiritual significance among Hindus. Ganga Saptami is a very important festival in Hinduism. The Goddess Ganga is honored on this day. According to Hindu Scriptures, it is believed that on this auspicious day, the goddess Ganga took a rebirth. Sacred water is the manifestation of the goddess Ganga on earth. Devotees call her as Maa Ganga and seek blessings. The sage Jahnu is believed to have consumed all of the Ganga water, when the Goddess Ganga descended on Earth on Ganga Dussehra.
Ganga is the most venerated river of the country. Goddess Ganga, is also believed to have therapeutic qualities. Devotees from across the nation flock to locations with Ganga Ghats to take a sacred bath in the Ganga water. Because Ganga water is so clean and pious that it eliminates all negativity and purifies your body, mind, and soul, people who take a holy plunge in it are absolved of their previous sins. People bathe in the Ganga river at different locations as the holy river begins from Gaumukh and ends at Ganga Sagar in West Bengal after traveling through numerous Indian states.
The reason this day is also known as Jahnu Saptami is because all the gods and deities, along with Bhagirath, asked Jahnu Rishi to release the Ganga. He granted their request and freed the Goddess Ganga and she came on on earth on the day of Ganga Saptami. There are several names for Maa Ganga, including Jahnvi, Vishnupadi, Gange, and Bhagirathi.

Delay in release of CBSE answer sheet copies hinders revaluation efforts
Hubballi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared Class 10 and 12 results on May 13, allowing students to apply for photocopies of answer sheets by May 27. Only those who obtained photocopies were eligible to apply for revaluation by June 3. However, thousands of students who applied for photocopies did not receive them, hindering their revaluation efforts. CBSE has now extended the deadline for revaluation to June 7. Students aiming for merit seats, scholarships, or fee concessions in prestigious colleges are anxious, hoping to improve their scores. Many are constantly checking the CBSE website instead of focusing on their studies. Supraja M, who passed Class 10 from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Hubballi, shared that CBSE said in its circular dated May 19 that June 3 was the last date to apply for verification of marks or re-evaluation or both. "For this, it was mandatory to have a photocopy. I applied for a photocopy of my general science answer book on May 26 itself. But I did not get the answer book till June 6. When we sent an email to questioning this apathy, there was no reply at all. Even helplines 1800118002, 7669886950 and other numbers published on the CBSE website were defunct. Later, they extended the date till June 7," she shared. Compensation of Rs 10L for families of missing fishers distributed
Mangaluru: Minister of fisheries, ports and inland water transport, Mankal S Vaidya, on Friday, visited the homes of two fishermen from Bengre, Yashavanth Karkera and Kamalaksha Salian, who went missing after going fishing on May 29. The minister offered condolences to the affected families and distributed cheques of Rs 10 lakh each from the Fishermen's Distress Relief Fund. The search operation for the missing individuals is still ongoing, and the state govt will provide all possible assistance, the minister stated. Previously, the relief fund provided Rs 8 lakh to fishermen's families, which is now increased to Rs 10 lakh, the minister added. MLA D Vedavyas Kamath and MLC Ivan D'Souza, fisheries department director Dinesh Kumar, joint director Siddhaya, deputy director Dilip Kumar, and leaders of fishermen's organisations were present.
