Trader Joe's claims top spot in corporate reputation rankings

Trader Joe's took the top spot in the latest Axios Harris Poll 100 corporate reputation rankings, released Tuesday, moving up 12 spots from its position on the annual list last year.Costco ascended to No. 5, while Aldi and Kroger came in lower than they did in 2024. Grocers took two of the top 10 spots in the poll this year after being unrepresented in that portion of the list last year.

Trader Joe's and Costco's ascendance on The Harris Poll's list comes at a time when consumers are partial to businesses that they believe will help them save money. Last year, Costco came in at No. 11 in the polling organization's yearly examination of how consumers view the nation's best-known companies, while Trader Joe's finished at No. 13.
However Kroger dropped six spots this year, to No. 35, while Aldi fell 18 notches, to No. 32. Target, Dollar Tree and Dollar General all took positions on the lower half of the list, as they did in 2024, while Amazon slipped three spots, to No. 19.
Walmart, which took No. 79 on the list last year, moved down to No. 81. H-E-B, Wegmans and Publix, which had claimed spots in the rankings as recently as 2022, did not show up.
Other companies whose reputations won them high praise from consumers in 2025 include clothing manufacturer Patagonia (No. 2), Microsoft (No. 3) and Apple (No. 10). Arizona Beverage Co., a newcomer to The Harris Poll's list, took No. 7
Poll respondents docked almost half of all corporate reputations this year, with more than three-quarters of participants saying they believe companies have been charging more for goods and services even as quality declines, according to The Harris Poll, which conducted the research in partnership with Axios. A substantial portion of respondents also think companies are leveraging inflation to boost profits.
About 40% of respondents said they feel unable to improve their financial position, and a quarter of those blamed businesses for their inability to get ahead.
The poll results reflect the opinions of 16,585 people in the U.S., who ranked companies deemed to be the most visible in the country in a survey fielded from March 6 to March 22.

Based on an analysis and ranking of the Fortune 500's candidate experiences across 14 industries, the report revealed that while organizations are increasingly investing in optimizing their career sites with AI and automation, many continue to fail to meet job seeker expectations with hyper-personalized experiences that effectively attract, engage and convert talent throughout the talent journey. This shows a large disconnect between a population of workers who are expected to make up 80% of the advanced economies' workforce globally by 2034, and what the Fortune 500 are delivering today — with 87% of them failing to use AI and automation to hyper-personalize their career sites according to Phenom's report. Frenzy as Aldi's fan favourite Special Buys week returns: 'Will sell out quickly'

Aldi's very popular 'Best of British' Special Buys range is back, and shoppers are already going wild over the range that was released on Wednesday. Snacks such as prawn cocktail and Worcestershire sauce chips (AKA crisps), and Galaxy Chocolate Blocks are set to fly off the shelves this week. Other pantry staples such as Yorkshire Tea, Worcestershire Sauce, HP sauce, Bistro Gravy, Branston Pickle and more are included in the list of available goodies this week. However, there are a few items that have caused a bit of confusion. Rachel Houraghan, an Aldi shopper who's originally from Ireland, tells Yahoo Lifestyle that other people who might be missing their favourite foods from back home should get in quick! "I think all the popular things will sell out quickly," she tells us. "I went last year and most things were sold out by the time I had gone in the first week." She explains that while some of the items are available at Coles or Woolworths, they are much more expensive, making the Aldi Special Buys great value. "Also no where ever does prawn cocktail crisps! I love Australia and there is nowhere I'd rather be but it's always nice to have a taste from home." She adds that she's excited to introduce prawn cocktail crisps to her Aussie friends, and also keen to get some Galaxy chocolate bars, but she was least excited by the tea cakes, which she says "were the worst thing" there. As an Irish person, she also tells us, "I wish there was more Irish products as most were British. I would have loved Meanies crisps, Spice Bag seasoning, Chilli Heatwave Doritos!" Thankfully, for anyone wondering, the food all tastes the same as Rachel remembered from back home in Ireland. Many Aldi shoppers shared that they were going to "run" to their local store to get a taste of the British snacks on offer. "I didn't know and went to Aldi last night... I was in heaven," one woman wrote on TikTok. "As I Brit I have never seen cheese and pickle crisps before (but I need them!)," another said. "$50 later and I bought half the shop," a third said, while a fourth added, "My bank is gonna hurt tomorrow." Many others were left confused, however, that the prawn cocktail crisps were Smith's, which is an Aussie brand, instead of Walkers which are British. "What are Smith's? Walkers?" one person questioned. "Smith's crisps are not British!! We have Walkers," another said. Aldi is cutting prices on hundreds of items to help consumers deal with ‘sticker shock' in the rest of the world

Aldi is slashing prices on more than 400 items, aiming to ease consumer concerns over rising grocery bills. The discount grocer announced efforts Tuesday to help its customers across its 2,400 US stores save over $100 million over the summer months. From now until Labor Day, shoppers can expect lower prices on about 25% of its products, including grilling meats, organic produce, pantry items, and other popular summer items. 'Our customers count on Aldi for the lowest prices of any national grocer, every day, and we never take that trust for granted,' Jason Hart, Aldi CEO, said in a news release. 'While customers may see higher prices at other retailers, we're working hard to unlock even more value for our shoppers, just in time for summer's lineup of holidays and gatherings where food takes center stage. It's another way we're doubling down on our commitment to help shoppers fill their carts with great products for less.' The lowered prices come after the Department of Agriculture announced it expects grocery prices to rise by at least 3.3 percent this year. There have been fears of higher prices in the wake of President Donald Trump's 'Liberation Day' announcement of tariffs on goods from most countries around the world earlier this year, and the changing rates and policies since then. 'We want to do what we can to help shoppers,' Scott Patton, Aldi's chief commercial officer, said in a news release. 'Value isn't a trend at Aldi. It's been in our DNA since we opened our first store nearly 50 years ago.' In February, Aldi announced plans to open over 225 new US stores in 2025, aiming for 800 new locations by 2028 as part of a five-year growth strategy. There are currently over 2,500 Aldi stores in the US.
