Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Reveals 'Hard' Lesson Indiana Pacers Taught Him
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Reveals 'Hard' Lesson Indiana Pacers Taught Him originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Even though Andrew Nembhard put him on skates before hitting a clutch 3-pointer, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander looked poised for the entirety of the Oklahoma City Thunder's 111-110 loss to the Indiana Pacers in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

SGA missed a midrange shot in the final seconds that would have put the Thunder up by three points, and he finished with 38 points on 46.7 percent shooting to go with three steals.
However, it wasn't quite enough, as the Pacers roared back, winning their fifth game of the postseason thanks to a last-second Tyrese Haliburton shot.
Indiana only led for 0.3 seconds of the game, but it was enough to earn a shocking win on the road and take a lead in the Finals, where many expected them to get swept.
After the game, Gilgeous-Alexander offered an honest assessment.
"We had control of the game for the most part of it," said Gilgeous-Alexander to the media. "Now, it is a 48-minute game, and they teach you that lesson more than anyone else in the league, the hard way."

The Milwaukee Bucks, Cleveland Cavaliers, New York Knicks, and now the Thunder have all learned that lesson thanks to the Pacers. It doesn't matter how big of a lead you have, Indiana will fight until the final buzzer, and it's truly not over until it's over.
Game 2 will keep the series in Oklahoma City, tipping off on Sunday night.

Blockbuster Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade Idea Sends Bucks Star to Rockets
Blockbuster Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade Idea Sends Bucks Star to Rockets originally appeared on Athlon Sports. According to Kelly Iko of The Athletic, Milwaukee Bucks superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo remains a trade target for the Houston Rockets. Advertisement Antetokounmpo is reportedly open-minded about leaving the Bucks this offseason, but the future Hall of Famer hasn't requested a trade yet. If Antetokounmpo requests a trade from Milwaukee, Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report proposed that the Rockets trade Fred VanVleet, Amen Thompson, a 2027 first-round pick (via Phoenix), a 2028 first-round pick swap, a 2030 first-round pick and a 2032 first-round pick to the Bucks for The Greek Freak. The Bucks lost to the Indiana Pacers in the first round of this year's playoffs in five games. They have won just one postseason series since winning the 2021 championship against the Phoenix Suns in six games. Meanwhile, the Rockets made the playoffs this year for the first time since 2020. They took the Golden State Warriors to seven games in the first round. Antetokounmpo is a two-time MVP, a one-time Finals MVP, a one-time Defensive Player of the Year and a nine-time All-Star. Advertisement A member of the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team, Antetokounmpo has career averages of 23.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.2 blocks. He put up 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.2 blocks per game this season and made the All-NBA First Team. "Giannis would give the Rockets one of the best starting frontcourts in the league," Bailey wrote. "He and Alperen Sengun can play together. And the roster would still have plenty of upside with Jalen Green, Jabari Smith Jr. and Reed Sheppard." It will be fascinating to see if Antetokounmpo requests a trade from the Bucks this offseason. The Rockets are expected to make an offer for Antetokounmpo if he asks out. Blockbuster Four-Team NBA Trade Idea Sends Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo to Raptors
Blockbuster Four-Team NBA Trade Idea Sends Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo to Raptors originally appeared on Athlon Sports. According to Doug Smith of The Toronto Star, mutual interest exists between Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Toronto Raptors. Advertisement Shams Charania of ESPN reported in May that Antetokounmpo is open-minded about leaving the Bucks this offseason. 'I don't know if it will happen but I do know there is mutual interest between Antetokounmpo and the Raptors,' Smith wrote. 'The wild card is the cost. But I also think the Raptors are uniquely placed to make an attractive offer that won't ruin their franchise or roster.' The Bucks have won only one postseason series since winning the 2021 championship against the Phoenix Suns. Meanwhile, the Raptors have been looking for a superstar ever since Kawhi Leonard left for the Los Angeles Clippers in the summer of 2019. Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Toronto Raptors reportedly have mutual Credit: Jeff Hanisch-Imagn Images With Smith's reporting in mind, Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report proposed a four-team trade idea between the Bucks, Raptors, Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls that lands Antetokounmpo in Toronto. Advertisement The Raptors would get Antetokounmpo, Jalen Smith and Jevon Carter, the Bucks would get RJ Barrett, Gradey Dick, Chris Boucher, Ja'Kobe Walter and Gabe Vincent, the Lakers would get Lonzo Ball and Jakob Poeltl and the Bulls would get Dalton Knecht, Jarred Vanderbilt, Shake Milton and AJ Lawson. "Why Antetokounmpo? Does that need exposition? His ties to Toronto may stem from his relationship with top executive Masai Ujiri," Pincus wrote. "If Antetokounmpo is picking the Raptors, who are they to say no? "The larger question is justifying the cost. On the premise that Toronto has no interest in moving Scottie Barnes in the deal, it's giving up nearly all the first-round compensation possible (a little more than what the Cleveland Cavaliers paid out to get Donovan Mitchell)." Antetokounmpo doesn't have a no-trade clause in his contract. The future Hall of Famer averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.2 blocks for the Bucks this season. It will be fascinating to see where Antetokounmpo is playing next season. The development of the players in the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver stable certainly benefits the growth of their offense, but certain pieces are in jeopardy of being left on the outskirts on the road to training camp.
The development of the players in the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver stable certainly benefits the growth of their offense, but certain pieces are in jeopardy of being left on the outskirts on the road to training camp. originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Super Bowl LIX showed the Kansas City Chiefs needed major improvements to their receiving room. Days away from the team's start at mandatory minicamp and offseason activities shifting into another gear, the team has mostly opted for development in-house. Advertisement There's some level of risk there though the top two pieces in Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy have proven a great deal early in their careers. The Chiefs will count on their growth while veteran Hollywood Brown presumably slides into the No. 3 spot after an injury-riddled debut campaign with the team last season. Factor in the return of JuJu Smith-Schuster to the lineup and the addition of rookie Jalen Royals and suddenly the receivers room looks pretty crowded. Considering the bigger picture of pass catchers in this offense, future Hall of Fame tight end Travis Kelce cannot be forgotten either. Unfortunately, that brings the future of fourth-year Skyy Moore into question. Moore did not post more than 250 yards in his first two seasons with the team and missed the majority of 2024 due to injury. He did not register a catch in the six games he played. While the Chiefs appreciate the tools Moore brings to the table it would appear he faces an uphill battle to make the team outright per Charles Goldman of A-to-Z Sports. Advertisement 'The coaching staff has shown that they like Skyy Moore's ability to plug in at every wide receiver position,' Goldman said. 'He'll get opportunities during offseason workouts and training camp, but make no mistake that he's on a short leash.' He also noted that another injury could be a serious detriment for his roster chances. The Chiefs are far away from making these final decisions, so Moore has time to make ground and maybe change some minds on the coaching staff. But the brutally honest reality of this situation has made it clear that Moore's spot on the roster could be in jeopardy. Related: 'Keeping Up With Taylor Swift' Serving As Travis Kelce Motivation?
