COURT: Wrexham women fined for shoplifting at One Below
Both defendants admitted one offence of shoplifting, which took place at One Below in Regent Street, Wrexham, on December 16 last year.
Prosecutor Adam Warner told the court that the joint offences was "not sophisticated" and that the defendants appeared to be "stocking up" in the runup to Christmas.
He said a "significant amount of goods" were taken - coming to a value of some £260.35 in all.
Andy Holliday, defending Evans, told the court: "She was interviewed on December 31 and made full admissions.
"She was on universal credit."
Mr Holliday said his client had in fact admitted three shoplifting offences when interviewed, and was sentenced in March to a community order for the other offences - but that the December 16 theft with Evans remained "hanging around."
Stephen Edwards, defending Williams, told the court his client's involvement in the theft with Evans had come at the end of a then active suspended sentence, imposed in 2024 for shoplifting offences.

He added the defendant had been back before the court in February and has "complied fully with the terms of her latest sentence."
District Judge Gwyn Jones told the defendants: "This was a targeted venture, no doubt for the 'alternative' Christmas market."
