NFL's Brian Rolapp moves to PGA Tour

June 17 (UPI) -- After more than 20 years of work with the National Football League, Brian Rolapp has been named CEO of the PGA Tour.
The Tour announced Tuesday that Rolapp, who first joined the NFL in 2003 to become the COO of NFL Media and then the CEO of NFL Network, was selected by the PGA Tour CEO Search Committee unanimously for the role.
"Big day for me [and] my family," Rolapp posted to X Tuesday, "After two decades at the NFL, I'm honored to join the [PGA Tour] as CEO.
"I've long admired the Tour and believe there's real opportunity ahead. I'm excited to get to work and help build what's next," he added.
Rolapp is slated to begin later in the summer, but as for current Commissioner Jay Monahan, he is to start the transition of his responsibilities to Rolapp as he moves into a position as a member of the PGA Tour Policy Board and the PGA Tour Enterprises Board through the end of 2026.
"A year ago, I informed our Boards that upon completing a decade as Commissioner, I would step down from my role at the end of 2026," said Monahan in a press release, "Since then, we've worked together to identify a leader who can build on our momentum and develop a process that ensures a smooth transition."
"We've found exactly the right leader in Brian Rolapp, and I'm excited to support him as he transitions from the NFL into his new role leading the PGA Tour," said Monahan.
As the NFL's Chief Media and Business Officer, Rolapp's purview included the league's NFL Network, NFL Films, sponsorships, consumer products and commercial businesses which include broadcast and digital rights. On his watch, NFL secured important media agreements with the nation's broadcasting networks and some of the world's largest streaming services.
Professional golfer and Search Committee member Tiger Woods posted a congratulatory note to Rolapp on X Tuesday on his "becoming CEO of the PGA Tour. I'm excited about where the Tour is headed."
Woods also gave a "big thank you to Jay for everything he's done for our game and for the players and fans."

The Cardinals like that he has potential upside as a pass catcher, but he is a mauler in the run game. Since Higgins is a better natural pass catcher (he played receiver in college), the way the Cardinals deployed their tight ends probably won't change much. Reiman will have a quiet, critical role on offense and probably will have limited offensive production. But there are still some talented players left on the open market, including two-time second-team All-Pro cornerback Jaire Alexander. Alexander and the Green Bay Packers parted ways this offseason after failing to find a suitable trade partner or contract restructuring for the 28-year-old cornerback. One of his former college teammates is already pushing for their team to bring him in. Baltimore Ravens quarterback and fellow Louisville Cardinals alum Lamar Jackson made his pitch before accepting the Pro Football Writers of America MVP award at minicamp on June 17. "Go get him, Eric," Jackson said, referring to Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta. "I love all of our corners, don't get me wrong. But go get him Eric." The two played together for three years at Louisville. Alexander was a second-team all-conference cornerback in 2016 when Jackson won the Heisman Trophy. They both declared early to enter for the 2018 NFL Draft. Alexander went 18th overall to the Packers before Jackson went 32nd to the Ravens. In one of the best moments from Round 1 of the draft that year, Alexander stopped mid-interview to celebrate the Ravens drafting Jackson. As one of the top contenders in the AFC, Baltimore could always use depth in the secondary. They've built a reputation for signing veteran cornerbacks in recent seasons, too, with Tre'Davious White in 2024 and Ronald Darby in 2023. Alexander would be a younger player than either White or Darby were at their time of signing. Availability is a concern, though, as he played just 14 of 34 possible games over the last two seasons following his most recent Pro Bowl season in 2022. Can the Ravens sign Jaire Alexander? Baltimore is entering its second season under defensive coordinator Zach Orr and the team invested in cornerback in both free agency and the 2025 NFL Draft. Chidobe Awuzie signed a one-year deal, and Baltimore drafted Bilhal Kone and Robert Longerbeam in the sixth round. Awuzie is slated to start outside opposite 2024 first-round pick Nate Wiggins with Marlon Humphrey in the slot. Baltimore currently has $18.94 million in cap space in 2025, per OverTheCap, which is more than enough to sign Alexander to a short-term veteran contract. Lyles announced the cancelation Tuesday at Stagwell's Sport Beach event in Cannes, France. His news was captured in a video posted by the New York Post on Instagram. Advertisement This postponement followed months of trash talk between the two sports stars. Lyles said in his chat at the Cannes event Tuesday the showdown with Hill was going to take place in Times Square. 'Unfortunately, there were some things — complications, personal reasons, that it just didn't come to pass, but we were full in,' Lyles said in the video. 'We were going to have a big event.' Hill posted on social media a series of pictures with Lyles' face on Homer Simpson's animated character as Simpson retreated into the hedges. Hill also wrote: ' @LylesNoah after seeing me run the 100m last weekend.' The 31-year-old Hill ran 10.15 seconds in a race last Friday in California. He held up a sign that read ' Noah Could Never.' It was in response to the 27-year-old Lyles flashing a piece of paper that said 'Tyreek Could Never" after winning a 60-meter indoor race in February. Advertisement Lyles captured Olympic 100-meter gold in Paris last summer in a time that calculated out to 9.784 seconds. It was five-thousandths of a second faster than Kishane Thompson of Jamaica. As Lyles explained it, a race for bragging rights that was never formally announced was on track to possibly take place as soon as this weekend.
