A 33-year-old woman died at Telangana's Cherlapally railway station after falling between a moving train and the platform on Sunday. The woman passenger fell between the moving train and the platform while trying to get off the Janmabhoomi Express and board another coach of the train.
The deceased, identified as Mattala Swetha, a native of Dondapudi in Anakapalli district in Andhra Pradesh and resident of HMT Township in Lingampally, was on her way to her in-laws' in Rajahmundry with her two children when the mishap occurred. Swetha and her children were going to their native place to spend the summer vacation, said an official.
According to the Secunderabad Government Railway Police, the incident occurred at around 7.40 am. Swetha's husband Venkatesh helped her and the children board coach D-3 at Lingampally, and later Swetha realised that they were supposed to board coach D-8. When the train reached Cherlapally railway station, she deboarded the train to move to D-8.
'She was in the process of shifting herself and the children to D-8 when the incident happened. After boarding the children, the train started to move as she was about to board. She fell between the platform and the train,' an official said, adding that the victim died on the spot.
As the train had already picked up speed, she slipped and her body fell into the gap. She sustained a head injury, fractured waist, and severed leg, and died on the spot. While Swetha was a homemaker, her husband Venkatesh is employed at a private firm. The GRP staff shifted the body to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem examination. The case is under investigation. The body was handed over to the family after the post-mortem formalities.

Sai, who had married Battula Maduri, a nurse, just three months ago on March 12, was on his way to Goa with his wife and three family friends. According to a complaint lodged by his wife, the group arrived at Platform No. 9 around 9.30 am to board the Vasco-Da-Gama Express. Around 10.30 am, Sai reportedly slipped while attempting to board the moving train and fell between the platform and the train, sustaining severe injuries. He was immediately rushed to Yashoda Hospital but succumbed during treatment. During the investigation, Government Railway Police (GRP) officials said eyewitnesses and platform vendors reported that Sai had been boarding and deboarding the train multiple times before the accident. 'He boarded and got off the train at least three times before slipping during his final attempt,' a GRP official told TNIE.

The accused were identified as Md Billal (47), Salma Begam (38), Md Naeem (8) and Md Ali (6). According to official sources, the detained individuals entered India illegally from Bangladesh and had reached the railway station with the intent of boarding a train to travel to other states of the country. The operation was conducted based on secret intelligence inputs received earlier in the day. During preliminary interrogation, the detainees revealed that they were planning to travel to Delhi. Authorities have stated that all four will be produced before the Court on June 8 for further legal proceedings. Security at key transit points like the Agartala Railway Station remains on high alert to prevent such illegal crossings and human trafficking attempts. In the national capital, Police on Saturday initiated the process to deport 31 Bangladeshi nationals who were living illegally in the North West district of Delhi. The deportation process began on Saturday after the individuals were brought to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in RK Puram, officials said. Earlier this week, the North West District Police apprehended 18 Bangladeshi nationals who were found residing illegally in the city. The arrests were made during a special operation conducted on Tuesday by the Foreigner Cell unit in the Bharat Nagar police station area. The operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs indicating that three families who had migrated from Haryana were now hiding in the Wazirpur JJ Colony, frequently changing locations to avoid detection. Agartala, June 7 (UNI) In a joint operation conducted by the Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and Border Security Force (BSF), based on intelligence input arrested two individuals at Agartala railway station for illegal entry into India and attempting to cross the state by train on Saturday. According to GRP, the arrested individuals include one Bangladeshi national and one Indian tout. The Bangladeshi national, identified as Shyamal Chandra Barman (23) from Gaibandha district, Bangladesh, illegally entered India and was accompanied by Abhijit Sarkar alias Prem (32), a resident of Trisha Bari, Teliamura Police Station, Khowai district. The operation was carried out based on confidential information, and during initial interrogation, the duo revealed plans to travel onward to Kolkata by train. The arrested men are currently being interrogated at the Agartala GRP police station. Police officials indicated that further arrests may be imminent as the investigation continues and more information is expected to surface. A case has been registered at the Agartala GRP police station, and the accused are scheduled to be produced before the court on Sunday (tomorrow). UNI BB
