‘Over 300 youth' descend upon New Jersey mall, sparking massive brawl planned through TikTok: officials

New York Post19-05-2025

Hundreds of youths descended upon a north Jersey mall Saturday night in a meet-up that was reportedly pre-planned on TikTok and led to a massive brawl.
Seven minors were arrested in the chaotic melee that was spurred by TikTok posts calling for juveniles to meet up at the Menlo Park Mall in Edison, New Jersey, that night, according to officials and local reports.
The out-of-control gathering soon grew exponentially from just 100 people to 'over 300 youth' from across the Garden State shortly after 8 p.m., Edison Mayor Sam Joshi wrote on social media.

At least four of the seven minors who were arrested were from other towns, according to Joshi.
Edison police had to call for back-up from neighboring police departments to clear out the hooligans.
As cops worked to get the rowdy crowd under control, one officer fractured their ankle, Edison Police Chief Tom Bryan told My Central Jersey.

None of the youths were injured and no weapons were recovered, cops said.

Of the seven arrested, one was charged with aggravated assault on an officer, and six others face disorderly conduct charges. One person was charged with both disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, Bryan told the outlet.

Some participating youth shared posts on TikTok and Instagram leading up to the swarm, telling people to show up at the mall at 7 p.m.
3 The meetup was loosely advertised in advance and went viral on social media.

It's unclear if any of the posts advertised a fight or if it was intended for some other kind of event, but Bryan confirmed that TikTok played a role in the huge crowd.
One TikTok shared last Tuesday that pitched a 'Menlo Mall Linkup??' received over 9,000 likes and 156,000 views. The user posted about the meetup again on Thursday.

Videos later capturing the chaotic scene quickly went viral on TikTok overnight as teens wreaked havoc, screaming and running from officers while they were making arrests.
Impromptu fights spurred by social media meet-ups have resulted in slews of minors being arrested in the last year.
In October, 'mass chaos' broke out at the Kings Dominion theme park just outside of Richmond, Va, following a social media callout. No one was arrested after 14 deputies responded to the scene.
In November, an armed teenage gangbanger lost hold of his gun during a fight at a mall in Long Island. A bystander kicked the weapon further away from the teen in a video released in early May.
The Post reached out to the Edison Police Department for comment.

Owner of Dominican club whose roof collapsed and killed 236 is arrested along with his sister

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (AP) — The owner of an iconic nightclub in the Dominican Republic whose roof collapsed in April and killed 236 people was arrested Thursday along with his sister. Antonio Espaillat and Maribel Espaillat have not been charged in the case, although authorities have 48 hours to present any charges before a judge. 'Both defendants displayed immense irresponsibility and negligence by failing to physically intervene to prevent the club's roof from collapsing, as it ultimately did, causing 236 deaths and more than 180 injuries,' the Dominican Republic's Attorney General's Office said in a statement. Prosecutors accused the Espaillats of trying to intimidate or manipulate company employees, adding that they could serve as witnesses in the case. Antonio Espaillat is considered a powerful businessman in the Dominican Republic; he owns upscale entertainment centers and dozens of local radio stations. Miguel Valerio, the Espaillats' attorney, told reporters that he expects to have access to the prosecutors' evidence in upcoming days. 'This is an involuntary homicide,' he said. 'Nobody wanted that to happen.' The Espaillats were arrested after being interrogated for several hours. Altanto TV, a local digital news channel, posted an interview with a man they identified as former Jet Set employee Gregory Adamés. The channel said he gave prosecutors videos and conversations with Antonio Espaillat in which he warned that the April 7 party shouldn't be held because the roof could collapse. Adamés said in a video posted on Instagram that he would hold the Espaillat family responsible if he disappears or is shot or involved in an accident. 'If something happens to me, it's clear where it came from,' he said. 'My intention is not to hurt anyone, only that the truth be known.' A government-appointed committee that includes international experts is still investigating what caused the roof to collapse. Crews worked for 53 hours nonstop after arriving on the scene in Santo Domingo shortly after midnight on April 8, rescuing 189 survivors. The victims included beloved singer Rubby Pérez, who was performing when the roof caved in, and Nelsy Cruz, the governor of Montecristi province and sister of seven-time Major League Baseball All-Star Nelson Cruz. Also killed was former MLB pitcher Octavio Dotel, who was pulled from the debris but died in hospital, and Dominican baseball player Tony Enrique Blanco Cabrera. Other victims include a retired U.N. official, New York-based fashion designer Martín Polanco, an Army captain who left behind four young girls, and three employees at Grupo Popular, a financial services company, including the president of AFP Popular Bank and his wife. The relatives of several survivors have filed lawsuits against Antonio Espaillat. The club, which had operated for nearly five decades, was known for its Monday night merengue parties that attracted international celebrities and high-profile Dominicans.

Miley's Brother Slams MGK, Attacks Megan Fox's Kids

If you have issues with another celebrity, fine, but kids should NEVER ever be used as collateral damage in your drama, but that's just what Trace Cyrus decided to do. Earlier today, the 36-year-old musician, who also happens to be Miley Cyrus's half-brother, took to Instagram to voice his frustrations, where he alluded that people were comparing him to other artists, particularly Machine Gun Kelly. Trace is no stranger to social media rants. In the past, he's released several videos and posts about his estranged relationship with his adoptive father, Billy Ray Cyrus, UFO sightings, supporting Trump, and most recently, his ex and former Disney Channel star, Brenda Song. This time, he took personal shots at MGK while spewing offensive anti-gay comments: "And here's another truth I'm gonna say," Trace began on his Instagram Story. "If I didn't speak this way, and I wasn't as masculine as I am, if I fucking painted my nails and dressed all fucking homosexual like a lot of these artists — you know who I'm talking about — I'd have a record deal, and I'd be one of the fucking biggest artist." "I'm better than all these motherfuckers out there," he continued. "I'm a better fucking songwriter. I'm more fucking unique in all aspects of my life. I'm better looking. It's fucking true. So fuck off with all this shit trying to compare me to other people when I've been around way longer than all these other motherfuckers, and they all jacked my fucking style. So fuck off with that shit." He continued the tirade, this time leaving the subliminal messages behind, and calling the rapper out by his name. While doing so, in a way to disparage MGK, Trace referenced the rapper being signed to Diddy's Bad Boy Records. MGK was signed to Bad Boy from 2012 to if you've been following Diddy's ongoing federal trial, then you know prosecutors allege that the music mogul attempted to "engage in, among other crimes, sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice." He is facing five criminal counts and has denied all allegations. "Don't you guys find it odd that Diddy is known for being the president of Bad Boy Records, and nobody he's signed in like the past fucking 10 years I've heard of except for one guy: MGK. that's the only person I know that Diddy signed in the past fucking decade or so? Fucking ridiculous." Trace then targeted MGK's ex-fiancée, Megan Fox, and the three young boys she shares with actor Brian Austin Green from a previous marriage — Noah Shannon Green, 12, Bodhi Ransom Green, 11, and Journey River Green, 8. She welcomed her fourth child, a baby girl, with MGK on March 27. MGK also has a 15-year-old daughter named Casie Colson Baker from a previous relationship with his teen love, Emma Cannon. The Jennifer's Body star has opened up about the way she chooses to parent her children, and why she allows her boys to live freely, instead of "micromanaging" them. After revealing that her oldest son, Noah, began to wear dresses at the age of 2, she refused to tell him that it was wrong. Instead, she bought resources, like books, to help him feel confident. "Sometimes, he'll dress himself, and he likes to wear dresses sometimes," Fox told The Talk in 2019. "And I send him to a really liberal, hippy school, but even there, here in California, he still has little boys going, 'Boys don't wear dresses,' or 'Boys don't wear pink.'" "So we're going through that now, where I'm trying to teach him to be confident no matter what anyone else says," she added, sharing that after he'd recently been laughed at for wearing a dress to school, he told her, ''I don't care, I love dresses too much.'''Some of the books are just about how you can be a boy and wear a dress; you can express yourself through your clothing however you want. And that doesn't even have to have anything to do with your sexuality." Trace appeared to hint at this by referring to her children as trans in a derogatory manner. He then concluded the rant by sarcastically congratulating MGK for choosing Megan to be the mother of their child, based on the kids she's raised thus far. "And what did he do after he signed to Diddy? He got with a girl who has three trans children. They're all trans, somehow. Is it three or four? Three or of her kids are trans. That's the woman that he thought was the best woman that he should be with. That's going to be a great mother for my future child. You're very smart, brother. Great job." Again, you're allowed to dislike people, but he should've never mentioned Megan's kids. It's extremely low. Looking for more LGBTQ+ or Pride content?
