Alexander Jensen targets instant Aberdeen Hampden return as dream Euro run also in his cross hairs

The defender is desperate for a quickfire return to the national stadium this year
Alexander Jensen has admitted Scottish Cup winners Aberdeen are aiming for an immediate Hampden return.

The Dons kick-off their Premier Sports Cup campaign away to Morton. Aberdeen lifted the Scottish Cup, beating Celtic on penalties back in May.

Jensen stated that has given them a hunger to go on another run and to get back to the national stadium.

He is well aware that to do that they need to be professional and do things right to get past a potential banana skin at Cappielow to Dougie Imrie's Championship side on Saturday.
The full-back stated: 'Yes, that could be good. Of course we are aiming for that and we will try to do our best in that competition as well.
'It's going to be difficult away from home. I don't know so much about Morton, although I know they're playing the Championship and they will be a tough team to face.
'So we just have to be at our best, as we have to be every weekend.'
The Dons will have plenty of cup competition this season. They face Morton in the cup and then turn their attention to their Europa League play-off first-leg on Thursday.
Jensen admitted it was a big factor in him making the move to Pittodrie in January. He had never played in Europe before and the nearest he had come was being a ball boy when he was in the youth ranks at Midtjylland.

'It's exciting,' the Dane stated. 'It's kind of what I expected when I signed here.
'All the boys wanted it and that is what the club was aiming for, so it's going to be good to play those games and it's going to be interesting to face teams from all over Europe. I look forward to it.'

Jensen has already been doing his homework and took in the FCSB and Drita games to see who the Dons would be playing.
Regardless of what happens, Aberdeen are guaranteed European group stage football, either in the Europa League or dropping down to the Conference League.
Jensen is hoping it will be in the Europa League and would love a return to Denmark in the group stage.

He said: 'That could be fun, that would be fun. If we do that and we can face a Danish opponent it will of course be funny for me.'
Jimmy Thelin signed the 23-year-old from Brommapojkarna back in January. He has proved a big success and has established himself as one of Aberdeen's top performers.
Jensen enjoyed his first season in Scotland, especially as it ended with the Scottish Cup. He is looking to kick on and to get even better both personally and in helping Aberdeen kick-on to the next level.
He stated: 'I think it's just to be better every day and to try to be more consistent than we were last season. So just trying to be better every day and grow.
'Everyone has to grow as an individual and as a team and if we kind of have that mentality inside our team. I think we're going to be more consistent and it's going to get better day by day.
'Instead of being very good in the start of the season we maybe can be better and better throughout the season. So that's maybe the goal to be more consistent and get better and better.'
Meanwhile Thelin is trying to add to his Aberdeen squad before the play-off game. Aberdeen have agreed a deal with AC Milan for striker Marko Lazetic while Varnamo winger Kenan Bilalovic has arrived this evening.
A deal for Lazetic is a given ahead of Thursday and it's now down to visas and red tape whether they can feature in their Euro opener next week.
It is down to the authorities and that can take days or weeks.

Supposedly vulnerable after their European exertions three days earlier, Hibs made a mockery of such suggestions by breezing past Livingston 2-0 at Almondvale to book a Premier Sports Cup quarter-final date with Rangers. This was a polished performance by the Easter Road outfit, who less than 72 hours beforehand had been locked in an almighty Conference League tussle with Partizan Belgrade that they eventually won after extra time. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Hibs head coach David Gray was clever with his squad rotation, making six changes to his team. They all contributed, with record signing Thibault Klidje showing why he cost the thick end of £1 million by opening the scoring on his first start and being a nuisance to the Livingston backline all afternoon. Thibault Klidje opened the scoring just before half time for Hibs. | SNS Group He was ably supported by another new arrival in Miguel Chaiwa. The 21-year-old only joined from Young Boys less than a fortnight ago but the rangy Zambian was this observer's man of the match, dominating the midfield. He was strong, disciplined, took good care of the ball, broke up attacks and drove forward whenever possible. It was a near-perfect debut. Hibs spent in the region of £600,000 for Chaiwa and have enjoyed shopping in the Alps this summer. Klidje was purchased from another Swiss club in Luzern, while Gray also handed a first competitive start to Austrian goalkeeper Raphael Sallinger, pinched from Hartburg in his homeland. He was assured, although not overly worked by a poor Livingston side. Their manager David Martindale, who agreed a new contract in the build-up to this game, will surely lament his team's largely listless performance. They never truly put Hibs under pressure, and almost every ball into the visiting penalty box was met by the dominating head of Scotland defender Grant Hanley. Jordan Smith, Chris Cadden, Rocky Bushiri, Josh Mulligan and Kieron Bowie were used sparingly. Mulligan's late cameo was notable for Hibs' second goal, a cracking strike from distance that shot in via the post. It wasn't necessary, mind you. Only one goal was required. Some Hibs fans have questioned why Klidje, a Togo internationalist, has not been utilised more given the fee splashed out on him. He was a fascinating watch throughout. Small, stocky but speedy, he has some of the hallmarks of Martin Boyle, who partnered him in attack. Hibs clearly wanted to turn Livingston's less pacey defence and expose them. Their captain Ryan McGowan was booked early on for wiping Klidje out, before the striker himself was cautioned for an over-zealous shoulder charge. Hibs settled into the game nicely and thoroughly deserved their lead on 43 minutes. It was a simple goal, Boyle's inswinging corner met by Klidje's head and the ball skidded past Jerome Prior in the Livingston goal. Miguel Chaiwa made his Hibs debut. | SNS Group With Chaiwa and Alasana Manneh patrolling the Hibs midfield, Livingston could not find much joy. Both Junior Hoilett and Josh Campbell missed very presentable chances to put the game completely to bed earlier than Mulligan did with a sumptuous strike from outside the box on 87 minutes, his first in Hibs colours. But for as good as he and his teammates were, Livi were toothless and could have played until sunset and probably not scored.

Hibs through to Premier Sports Cup quarter-finals with victory over Livingston

Hibs comfortably qualified for the quarter-finals of the Premier Sports Cup with a 2-0 victory over Livingston at the Set Fare Arena in West Lothian this afternoon. David Gray made six changes to the starting XI from the side that overcame FK Partizan in midweek. Raphael Sallinger and Miguel Chaiwa both made their competitive debuts for the Club whilst Thibault Klidjé making his first start. They were joined by Grant Hanley, Kanayo Megwa, Alasana Manneh on the bench. Jordan Smith, Dylan Levitt, Kieron Bowie, Chris Cadden, Josh Mulligan, and Rocky Bushiri all dropped down to the bench. Jamie McGrath and Joe Newell both missed out due to injury. Former Hibs player Andrew Shinnie was listed amongst the Livingston substitutes. David Martindale made two changes to the side that beat Falkirk last weekend. Daniel Finlayson and Shane Blaney came into the back four and Mo Sylla started in midfield. Danny Wilson and Graham Carey missed out after picking up knocks, while there was no place for on-loan full-back Adam Montgomery. The game kicked off in blistering conditions with Hibs as always taking a huge travelling support along the M8. The players wore their all black third kit. Hibs almost opened the scoring after 30-seconds when Klidjé tried to lob the Livi keeper Jerome Prior from 20-yards but he managed to tip the ball over for a corner. Warren O'Hora than set up Martin Boyle who raced clear down the right but his pass to Klidjé was blocked. Former Hearts' player Ryan McGowan was booked for a late challenge on Klidjé on the left wing. Klidjé was also booked moments later for a challenge on Shane Blaney. Sylla was fortunate not to join them for a tug-back on Josh Campbell and a barge on Klidjé. A third straight foul though on Campbell did result in a well deserved yellow card. In the 25th minute Campbell almost gave Hibs the lead with a powerful half-volley but Prior produced a fine save. At the other end Robbie Muirhead tried an acrobatic effort that flew well wide. Chaiwa tried his luck from distance but his effort was high then Klidjé almost got on the end of a Jordan Obita cross but the danger was cleared. Obita was booked for a pull-back near the half-way line before Manneh had a powerful volley blocked. Just before the break Hibs won a number of corners and from the third Klidjé escaped from his marker and headed home Boyle's corner from the left. After a brief VAR heck for offside the goal was given. Muirhead had an early chance in the second-half but Manneh did well to clear for a corner. On the hour mark Obita and Boyle were replaced by Nicky Cadden and Junior Hoilett. Within seconds of coming on Hoilett should have made it 2-0 after getting on the end of a perfect through ball from the impressive Klidje but he toe poked his effort wide of the post. Campbell was shown a yellow card for a foul on Sylla. Klidjé made way for Elie Youan in the 67th minute and left the field to a huge and well-deserved standing ovation from the travelling fans. Hibs almost doubled their lead when Campbell nearly got on the end of a low cross from Megwa but the ball fell to Cadden whose effort was blocked. Hanley did well to deflect a Samson Lawal shot over the bar as the hosts started to pile on the pressure for the remaining 15-minutes. On the 80th minute Campbell and Manneh ware replaced by Mulligan and Levitt. Jeremy Bokila was booked for a late challenge on Megwa. Chaiwa tried his luck from 30-yards but Prior saved easily. Lawal was then booked for a foul on Chaiwa. With four minutes left Hibs wrapped things up. A Cadden free-kick was cleared into the path of Mulligan who fired a tremendous 25-yard strike into the top right-hand corner of the net. From then Hibs managed the remainder of the game comfortably and now look forward to a quarter-final against Rangers at Ibrox. Marc Márquez reigns supreme in Austria with sprint-race MotoGP double

Six-times MotoGP champion Marc Márquez marked the 1,000th premier class race in history by winning the Austrian Grand Prix for the first time in his career to take a mammoth 142-point lead over his brother Alex in the championship. Having won Saturday's sprint from the second row, Marc Márque claimed the sprint-race double for the sixth Grand Prix in a row, with the Spaniard unbeaten since the British Grand Prix in May. Not since 2014 had Marc Márquez claimed six Grand Prix wins on the bounce as he inches closer to a seventh MotoGP crown with nine rounds left. Gresini Racing rookie Fermin Aldeguer found late race pace to finish second while Aprilia's pole sitter Marco Bezzecchi, who kept Marc Márquez at bay for as long as he could, finished third. Alex Márquez finished 10th after serving a long-lap penalty. 'Super, super happy to finally take the first victory here in Austria,' Marc Marquez said. 'I'm happy with six victories in a row, but (I need to) keep focus, next week we have another race.' Bezzecchi had claimed his first pole with Aprilia on Saturday and despite finishing fourth in the sprint, this time he had the perfect launch to lead Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Márquez into turn one. The two Ducatis went side by side on lap one when Marquez briefly overtook his teammate but Bagnaia did not relent and took the place back to stay in second. However, Marc Márquez made the same move on the next lap to take second and set his sights on Bezzecchi, waiting for the right opportunity to pounce. 'In the first part he (Bezzecchi) was super strong but then I just waited, I tried in the beginning but it was too risky, then I preferred to wait and attack in the end,' Marc Marquez added. Alex Márquez had a poor start and with a long-lap penalty to serve for causing a crash at the Czech Grand Prix, falling out of the top 10 when he rejoined the field.
