Waste-to-wonder: Noida Jungle Trail with tigers & camels set to open in July
Noida: A slice of the wild, crafted from steel and imagination, Noida's Jungle Trail is almost ready to welcome visitors next month. Part of the waste-to-wonder park project, the trail is set for a trial run starting June 25, with an official opening expected in early July.
While final touches are underway, officials say installation of the main gate, a cafeteria, and paintwork remain.
Deputy director (horticulture) of Noida Authority, Anand Mohan Singh, said UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath will also be invited for the park's inauguration.
The 20-acre park is strategically placed to attract visitors from Noida, Delhi, Greater Noida and Faridabad. Built at an estimated cost of Rs 22 crore, the park is being developed on a public-private partnership (PPP) model by the Noida Authority in collaboration with a private company called Z-Tech.
The company has developed similar parks in Lucknow, including UP Darshan Park and Happiness Park.
Divided into four themed zones, the park offers an immersive wildlife experience. The Jungle Trail has over 700 life-sized animal sculptures from six continents, including elephants, tigers, camels, and exotic birds.
Isha Chaudhary, vice-president of Z-Tech, said every animal and artistic installation at the park has been designed using scrap materials like nuts, bolts, rods, chains, and fuel tanks.

"This reinforces our dedication to protecting the environment and our support towards the Swachh Bharat Mission," she said. "At this park, visitors can also experience a night Jungle Safari, where illuminated sculptures and ambient lighting create an authentic, life-like adventure," she added, noting that all sculptures, furniture, gazebos, and lighting fixtures at the park have been made using recycled and repurposed materials.
Nearly 500 tonnes of iron waste have been repurposed into elaborate sculptures, turning discarded materials into captivating visual elements. While most of the construction has been completed, the main entry gate, cafeteria, and painting are underway.

Rs 10,300 crore wealth left in limbo after Sunjay Kapur's death: Who will inherit the massive fortune?
The unexpected passing of industrialist Sunjay Kapur has shaken both the business and entertainment industries, leaving a leadership vacuum at Sona Comstar, the Rs 31,000 crore auto components giant he headed. The 53-year-old billionaire reportedly died of a heart attack while playing polo in London. Some reports suggest the fatal cardiac arrest may have been triggered by accidentally swallowing a bee during the game. Sunjay Kapur's death also brings renewed focus on the future of his massive personal wealth and the succession strategy for his business empire. The chairman of Sona Comstar was widely credited with expanding the company globally after taking over in 2015, following the death of his father and Sona Group founder Dr. Surinder Kapur. Shares Tumble, Company Issues Statement Following the announcement of his death, shares of Sona Comstar dropped by 7% in early Friday trading, reflecting investor uncertainty. In an effort to stabilise sentiments, the company released a statement saying, 'His vision, values, and dedication to excellence has left a lasting legacy for the company. We assure our customers, business partners, employees, and shareholders that our operations and prospects remain unchanged as we honour his legacy.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025년 가장 멋진 RPG 게임을 지금 정복하세요 레이드 섀도우 레전드 Undo While there is no official word on who will lead Sona Comstar next, reports suggest that the board will continue to manage the company, and his sisters might step into active roles. Wealth Division and Provisions for His Children At the time of his passing, Sunjay Kapur's personal net worth stood at approximately Rs 10,300 crore ($1.2 billion), according to Forbes. His fortune had peaked at Rs 13,000 crore ($1.6 billion) in both 2022 and 2024. As per legal succession norms, the management of his estate passes to his wife Priya Sachdev. Nonetheless, Kapur had already secured financial arrangements for his children with Karisma Kapoor—Samaira (20) and Kiaan (14). Reports confirm that bonds worth Rs 14 crore were set aside for them, and both are expected to receive a monthly income of Rs 10 lakh each. Kapur also had a six-year-old son, Azarias, with Priya Sachdev, and had adopted her daughter from a previous marriage, Safira Chatwal. None of the children are currently involved in Sona Comstar's business operations. A Tumultuous Personal Life Sunjay Kapur's personal life often attracted headlines. His first marriage was to designer Nandita Mahtani in 1996, which ended in 2000. His second, to Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor in 2003, ended in a highly publicised divorce in 2016. The relationship had turned contentious, with allegations of domestic abuse and legal disputes over child support. During the divorce proceedings, Karisma claimed she faced pressure and mistreatment, including an incident where Sunjay allegedly directed his mother to slap her during pregnancy. These allegations were widely reported and fueled extensive media attention. Despite the acrimonious split, Kapur ensured financial support for their children. As part of the settlement, Karisma received ₹14 crore in bonds for them and a residence in Khar. Family Reactions and Public Tributes Karisma Kapoor has not released a statement since his passing, though several family members and celebrities including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, and Amrita Arora were seen visiting her home to offer support. Sunjay Kapur's death was confirmed publicly by Suhel Seth, who called it 'a terrible loss' in a post on social media. Earlier, Karisma's father Randhir Kapoor had openly criticised Sunjay, calling him a "third-class man" and stating that the Kapoor family 'never married for money.' As the company and family navigate this transition, the future of Sona Comstar and the final execution of Sunjay Kapur's estate plans remain under close public and investor scrutiny.

Iran Denies Israel's Attack On World's Largest Gas Field: Why South Pars Is Key To Global Energy Ops
Last Updated: Iran shares the South Pars gas field with Qatar. Striking it would mark a major escalation in the conflict, which had already pushed oil prices up 9% on Friday Contrary to media reports, Iran oil ministry on Sunday denied Israel's attack on their oil and gas sector, claiming the Isfahan refinery operations continue without disruption. The semi-official Tasnim news agency had on Saturday reported that Iran had partially suspended gas production at the world's biggest gas field after an Israeli strike caused fire at South Pars gas field. Israel launched an air offensive against Iran on Friday, killing commanders and scientists and bombing nuclear sites in a stated bid to stop Tehran building an atomic weapon. Iran shares the South Pars gas field with Qatar. Striking it would mark a major escalation in the conflict, which had already pushed oil prices up 9% on Friday even though Israel spared Iran's oil and gas on the first day of its attacks. Operations at the Isfahan refinery continue without disruption, Iran's oil ministry told state media on Sunday, denying reports of an incident or attack against the facility.— Iran International English (@IranIntl_En) June 15, 2025 The South Pars field is located offshore in Iran's southern Bushehr province and is responsible for the lion's share of gas production in Iran, the world's third largest gas producer after the United States and Russia. The fire broke out in one of the four units of Phase 14 of South Pars, halting production of 12 million cubic metres of gas, Tasnim had said. Iran produces around 275 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas per year or some 6.5% of global gas output, and consumes it domestically as it cannot export gas due to sanctions. Iran shares the field with Qatar, which calls the field North Field. Qatar produces 77 million tonnes of liquefied gas from the field with the help of global majors such as Exxon and Shell and supplies the gas to Europe and Asia. Israel had so far restricted its strikes to military and nuclear installations. The South Pars gas field attack could change the dynamics. 'This is probably the most important attack on oil and gas infrastructure since Abqaiq," said Jorge Leon, an analyst at Rystad Energy, referencing the 2019 attack on Saudi oil facilities that shook global markets, as per Bloomberg. THE TIMING Israeli strikes have come at a bad timing for Iran, which is grappling with nationwide protests over chronic water and power shortages. Blackouts have cost industries $20 billion annually, worsened by IRGC-linked Bitcoin mining diverting electricity from civilians. Hyperinflation has exceeded 50% for seven consecutive years, with the currency collapsing to 828,500 rials against one USD. Critical shortages of medicine, fuel, and electricity have eroded public trust. Protesters in 155 cities have been chanting 'No Light, No Water, No Future'. Cement prices have surged 200% in three months, and unpaid bread subsidies have triggered baker strikes. IRGC-controlled conglomerates like Setad and Khatam Base dominate over 50% of the GDP. Public anger is fuelled by scandals, including a $3.7 billion fraud by Debsh Tea. Over 50% of voters boycotted recent elections, showing widespread disillusionment. Movements like 'Women, Life, Freedom' from 2022 persist despite crackdowns. WILL KHARG, HORMUZ BE NEXT? There are fears that Israel could attack Iran's main oil export terminal Kharg Island and the Strait of Hormuz, through which 21 per cent of the world's LNG and 14 million barrels of crude oil daily pass. Earlier, there were fears that Iran would block Hormuz supply line. 'This is a warning shot that Israel is willing to hit Iranian energy infrastructure if Israeli civilians are targeted," said Richard Bronze, head of geopolitics at Energy Aspects, as per The NYT. Analysts warn that if the conflict continues to escalate, Qatar's energy operations and Israel's own infrastructure could also become targets. Both countries play critical roles in energy exports, and any attack could create ripple effects across Asia, Europe, and global supply chains. IMPACT ON US, CHINA In the 1970s, Iran accounted for 10 per cent of the world's oil production. However, after the 1979 revolution, the US crippled the Iranian economy by announcing sweeping sanctions on Tehran. The United States tightened sanctions in 2018 after Trump exited a nuclear accord during his first presidential term. Iran's oil exports fell to nearly zero for some months. China is the biggest importer of Iranian oil. It says it does not recognise sanctions against its trade partners. The main buyers of Iranian oil are Chinese private refiners, some of whom have recently been placed in the US Treasury sanctions list. top videos View all If Israel attacks Iran's oil and gas production, it may also impact China, the United States' biggest strategic and economic rival. Analysts, however, say Saudi Arabia and other OPEC members could compensate for the drop of Iranian supply by using their spare capacity to pump more.
