The creator emphasised how foreigners often assume India is always hot, to which she said that the country also has snowy mountains and beaches.
Living in another country can be exciting until you become the go-to person for every question about India. And when the questions are strange and funny, you can't help but laugh. Case in point, Digital creator Sheenam Gautam's latest video, where she shared the unusual and silly questions foreigners ask her about India. From elephant rides to WiFi, these questions highlighted the misconceptions people have about the country.
Along with the video, Gautam wrote, 'Living abroad as an Indian is basically a free stand-up comedy show every day." And after taking a look at the questions she has been asked, you'll know exactly what she means. One of the most common questions she is asked on the foreign land is, 'Do you ride elephants to school?"
She is also asked whether India even has WiFi and her response? A playful mix of sarcasm and wit as she wrote, 'Yes, we do. Sometimes even faster than your brain," in the caption.
The creator highlighted how foreigners often assume India is always hot, to which she said that the country also has snowy mountains and beaches. Then there's the most iconic question: 'Do you eat curry every day?" To this, she replied, 'Only on days ending with Y." As for sports, many ask if cricket is India's national sport and Gautam's reply is pure gold. She, in her caption, wrote that cricket isn't just a sport but more like a religion in the country.
Moving ahead, there were also questions like 'Do you speak Indian?" or 'Is Bollywood like Hollywood but with more dancing?" Setting the record straight, she happily explained that she learned English in England's 'favourite colony" and Bollywood has ten times the drama.
Bollywood-style Question About Shah Rukh Khan
Then came the Bollywood-style question of all. It was, 'Do you know Shahrukh Khan?" and her witty response still has us laughing as she wrote, 'Sure, we have chai together every Sunday… in my dreams."
When asked if India is 'just villages," she delivered a mic-drop moment: 'Yeah, with 5G towers right in the middle." Gautam, further, also answered the questions about vegetarianism, religion, joint families of '50 people," and the number of gods in India but with a dash of humour.
The comments section on her post turned into a comedy club as many reacted to her witty answers. One of them wrote, 'Lol, I get asked this a lot by my foreign friends. I'm gonna use these replies now." Another commented, 'Your response to these questions is hilarious." Some even shared their strategy, writing,'If they asked about the caste system, I'd bring up the race system. Makes them scramble real fast."
Well, Gautam's witty take not only entertained but also challenged stereotypes about India that people have for the country.
