German police find more damage along railway disrupted by suspected sabotage
BERLIN - German police said on Friday that damage had been found at a second location along a railway line in western Germany where traffic had been disrupted a day earlier due to a fire in a cable tunnel that authorities suspect was an act of sabotage.
Police in the western German city of Duesseldorf said investigations were still ongoing but did not say what kind of damage had been found.
Rail traffic in and around the nearby city of Duisburg faced significant disruptions on Thursday after a fire broke out, with investigators ruling out accidental causes.
According to the daily newspaper Bild, citing news agency DPA, the damage found on Friday was caused by an incendiary device of the same design as the one found the day before.
No injuries have been reported. REUTERS

Ex-Arsenal player Thomas Partey in UK court charged with rape, sexual assault

The 32-year-old Ghana international has been charged with five counts of rape against two women and one count of sexual assault against a third woman. The alleged offences took place between 2021 and 2022, when he was an Arsenal player. Partey was charged on July 4, four days after leaving the Gunners when his contract expired at the end of June. The midfielder stood with his arms behind his back in the dock at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, wearing a black zip-neck jumper. The footballer showed no reaction as the charges were read out and was not asked to enter any pleas. Partey's lawyer Jenny Wiltshire previously said Partey 'denies all the charges against him', adding he welcomed 'the opportunity to finally clear his name'. Under his bail conditions he cannot contact any of the three women and must notify police of any permanent changes of address or international travel. Reports in recent days have linked Partey with a move to La Liga club Villarreal. As bail conditions were discussed in court, chief magistrate Paul Goldspring said: 'I understand he's no longer employed in this country and playing in Spain now.' Partey is due to appear at London's Old Bailey court on Sept 2. A spokesperson for Arsenal Supporters Against Sexual Violence said the group was 'profoundly disappointed' in the London club over their handling of the matter. Speaking outside court, Honor Barber told the PA news agency: 'We never wanted to be in a situation where the club that we love and the club that has values that we believe in was playing, week-in, week-out, a player who is now facing court appearances on six counts of sexual violence. 'We protested outside almost every home game last season because we wanted to disrupt the wall of silence that the club has put up around this issue.' British police said they first received reports of an allegation of rape in February 2022. Partey joined Arsenal for £45 million (S$77 million) from Atletico Madrid in October 2020. SINGAPORE – The chief executive of sports car distributor Eurosports Global was on Aug 5 charged with five counts of false trading. Singaporean Goh Kim San, 68, who is also the executive chairman of the company listed on the Singapore Exchange's Catalist board , was also handed 14 more charges under the Securities and Futures Act. In a statement, the police said that he is accused of six counts of engaging in deceptive practices and eight counts of failing to disclose interest in Eurosports' shares. Between May 2015 and November 2020, Goh allegedly conducted trades in Eurosports shares, knowing that these trades would likely create a false or misleading appearance of active trading in the company's shares. He is also accused of instigating two other individuals to procure three nominee trading accounts to conduct these allegedly manipulative trades in Eurosports shares, without the trading firms' authorisation. A police spokesperson said : '(Goh is said to have) intentionally failed to give written notice to Eurosports of changes in his ownership of (its) shares arising from trades conducted in the three nominee trading accounts.'
