This German Start-Up Will Cryogenically Freeze Your Body for $200K & Revive It in the Future
The company offers cryopreservation services, meaning they'll freeze your body after death and, in the future, bring you back to life when technology advances enough to make that possible.
Tomorrow Bio is charging around $200K for full body preservation and approximately $80,000 USD for brain-only preservation.
In this process, the body is cooled to an eye-watering -198 degrees Celsius, entering a state called 'biostasis.' In this state, all biological processes stop indefinitely, effectively putting the person in suspended animation until a future revival.
According to Tomorrow Bio, even the cause of death can be treated in the future when the technology exists. The company's ultimate goal is to create 'a world where people can choose how long they want to live – independent of where they are, who they are, and their financial resources.'
So far, the company has preserved six people and five pets, with over 650 individuals who have paid for the service and are awaiting their turn for preservation. Fernando Azevedo Pinheir, the co-founder of Tomorrow Bio, said, "During our lifetime, we may witness the safe cryopreservation and reanimation of complex organisms."
How Does the Cryopreservation Process Work?
Once death occurs, the cryopreservation process begins immediately. Tomorrow Bio has specialized ambulances stationed across various European cities to transport the bodies to their main facility in Switzerland.
Additionally, standby teams in Berlin, Amsterdam, and Zurich are always ready for the task. At the facility, the body is placed in an isolated steel container filled with liquid nitrogen, which is then maintained at -198 degrees Celsius for ten days to achieve the necessary preservation temperature.
Liquid nitrogen is a colorless, tasteless, and odorless gas with a boiling point of -196°C and a freezing point of -210°C, allowing for the preservation of the body in a state of deep cryogenic suspension.
As this bold venture into the future continues to unfold, Tomorrow Bio's commitment to giving people the chance to "choose how long they want to live" is bound to raise many eyebrows and fuel debates on life, death, and what technology might one day make possible.

Eight years on, Dr Ruth Pfau's legacy still touches thousands
Eight years after her passing, the legacy of Dr Ruth Pfau — the German-born physician who dedicated her life to eradicating leprosy in Pakistan — continues to inspire and serve thousands nationwide. Known as Pakistan's "Mother Teresa", Dr Pfau devoted more than five decades to the care of those shunned by society. Born on September 9, 1929, in Leipzig, Germany, she lived through World War II before moving to West Germany to study medicine at the University of Mainz. In 1960, en route to India, she was stranded in Karachi due to visa complications. The plight of leprosy patients she encountered here changed the course of her life. In 1963, she established Pakistan's first leprosy treatment centre on McLeod Road in Karachi, which evolved into the Marie Adelaide Leprosy Centre (MALC). Today, MALC operates 157 centres nationwide, offering treatment to more than 57,000 patients. Over the years, its services have expanded to maternal and child health, tuberculosis care, and support for the visually impaired and physically challenged. Colleagues recall that Dr Pfau's compassion extended beyond medical treatment. She would personally visit remote areas, sit and eat with lepers, and even inspect their kitchens to understand their economic conditions, often arranging financial help for housing or small businesses. "She never felt repulsed," said MALC CEO Maron Lobo, recalling how Dr Pfau would share tea and biscuits with the same hands that had dressed infected wounds. Her humility was legendary. She travelled in vans, walked to church, and eschewed official protocol. She was on the front lines during the 2005 earthquake, 2010 floods, and drought relief efforts in Balochistan. Her humanitarian work earned her several national honours, including the Hilal-e-Pakistan and Hilal-e-Imtiaz. Germany awarded her the BAMBI Award in 2012, where she reminded the audience: "At this moment, it's midnight in Pakistan, and many children will go to sleep hungry. Your world is not my world." Dr Pfau passed away on August 10, 2017, after a prolonged illness, becoming the first non-Muslim woman in Pakistan to be buried with state honours. Karachi's Civil Hospital now bears her name, and her former residence has been turned into a museum. For the patients she embraced when no one else would, and for the nation she chose as home, Dr Ruth Pfau remains a beacon of selfless service — a legacy that lives far beyond her years.

3m jobs by 2030 eyed: National AI Policy approved
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Saturday approved its first National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy, a landmark step aimed at creating three million jobs in the AI sector by 2030 and boosting the country's GDP by seven to 12 percent. Federal Minister for Information Technology, Shaza Fatima said the policy provides a complete roadmap for AI development, ensuring safe and responsible use of the technology while enabling Pakistan to compete in the global AI race. She noted that the initiative is designed not only to strengthen the domestic tech ecosystem but also to open opportunities for international collaboration, innovation, and economic growth partnership with Romania to expand tech opportunities In a separate development, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Khalid Magsi met with Romanian Ambassador to Pakistan. Both countries agreed to deepen cooperation in science and technology. Romania has invited Pakistan to participate in European funding programs, which Magsi said could open 'new avenues in technology' for the country. He highlighted that Romania is emerging as a significant IT hub in Europe and is eager to strengthen ties with Pakistan in the tech sector.

Tesla to streamline its AI chip design work, Musk says

Bloomberg News on Thursday cited people familiar with the matter as saying Musk had ordered the Dojo team to be disbanded, with team leader Peter Bannon departing the company. Tesla did not reply to a Reuters request for comment. The Dojo supercomputer was designed around custom training chips to process vast amounts of data and video from Tesla EVs to train the automaker's autonomous-driving software. "The Tesla AI5, AI6 and subsequent chips will be excellent for inference and at least pretty good for training. All effort is focused on that," he said, without directly mentioning Dojo. Morgan Stanley analysts led by Adam Jonas valued the Dojo supercomputer at $500 billion in 2023, saying it opened a new market for the automaker beyond cars sales, similar to how Amazon's cloud unit boosts profit for the ecommerce firm. "Dojo is the key accelerant at the intersection of hardware and software," the brokerage said on August 4. Jonas did not immediately respond to a query if the latest development would hurt Tesla's valuation. Tech companies are increasingly designing custom chips to cut latency, power and cost, while consolidating around fewer architectures.
