Tommy Fury reveals Jake Paul rematch timeline as Brit sends chilling warning
Ever since their first encounter, the pair have chased an rematch - with Fury insisting a sequel could in fact happen sooner rather than later
Tommy Fury is adamant that a rematch with long-time rival Jake Paul will happen within the next 12 months.
After years of exchanging words online, the pair finally went head-to-head in the ring back in 2023. Despite being dropped in the final round, Fury would go on to win on points in Saudi Arabia. Ever since, the two stars have talked up a potential rematch.
Back in April, Fury was accused of turning down "multiple offers" to face Paul for a second time and was at risk of completely losing the fight all together. The American's team claim Fury rejected a $6million to make the fight happen on Netflix last year. The 'Problem Child - who has not fought since defeating Mike Tyson last November - will make his boxing return this weekend against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
Should the 28-year-old emerge victorious, it could set up a rematch with Fury - with the latter believing a sequel could take place within the next year or so. Sharing his thoughts on the American, 'TNT' told Eddie Hall on The Good, The Bad & The Beast podcast: "Even now, people message me like 'if you fight him again, I think Jake is going to beat you.'
"Ok, Jake might have been active than me recently but you can't get better fighting 60-year-old men. I do not care who you are. At 60, you are not who you were. For him (Paul) to get better, he needs fights like he had with me. And I know if I fought him now, I would do the same thing to him. He has got the L. I am not chasing the fight. The only fight that matters is me. Everybody knows that. He has one loss on that record and that is to me."
Regarding his future, Fury is only chasing the 'big fights,' but insists it is only a matter of time before he squares off with Paul again. "What's next for me? I think the big fights are looming. I think they are always going to be there because the history is there. I am getting used to fighting again. Whatever fight comes to be honest."
When asked if he had any names in mind, Fury replied: "I think the Jake Paul fight. That is always going to be there because there is a lot of history with that fight. It makes sense for both parties. There is not a doubt in my mind where I go into the ring with Jake Paul and I think he beats me.
"There is just no way because I know what I am capable of. And when I fought him the first time, that was not 60 per cent of what I am capable of. I think that fight happens in the next 12 months. I will be ready for that fight. And if he wants to try and changes what happened the last time, he can try, but it ain't going to work."

Jacob Fearnley living life on the grass to the fullest
The British No.2 eased comfortably into the second round after a straight sets success over Flavio Cobolli, taking down the fifth seed 6-2 6-2 in the last action of the day. Fearnley's success over the Italian continues a strong run of form for the 24-year-old, who memorably claimed his first-ever ATP tour quarter-final at Queen's last week. The switch from West Kensington to East Sussex has been seamless for Fearnley and he is hungry for more. "It was good fun - thanks to everyone for sticking around because I know it was a long day, he said. "It was a great match, and I was happy I was able to get on centre. "I got a lot of confidence from last week and I'm really enjoying my time here at Eastbourne. It was tricky conditions but I was happy with the way I played, and hopefully I can keep the momentum going for the next match. "I wasn't sure what to expect. It was a long day in windy conditions. I didn't know if it was going to rain or what court I would be on so there were quite a few variables that could've affected the way I played but I came here with a good energy and I'm definitely happy with my performance. "You can get a bit on edge with the wind affecting your shot so I wanted to commit to every ball and I stumbled a bit but all in all it was pretty clean. "Getting off to a good start is a good thing. My confidence grew as the match went on and he sensed it and it's late at night and he doesn't want to be there too long with the way I was playing." The next name on Fearnley's list is good friend Marcos Giron of the United States and the British No.2 is raring for a chance to test his mettle against the American. Fearnley added: "He is a great player on grass. He hits the ball pretty flat and is a nice guy and I'm looking forward to the match. We've never played before but we'll see what happens." Fearnley was one of several Brits in action on Tuesday, with several of his compatriots putting on a show on the Eastbourne lawns. Former Eastbourne semi-finalist Billy Harris joined Fearnley in the round of 16 after defeating former British No.1 Cameron Norrie. And there was similar success for Jodie Burrage, who advanced into the last 16 of the women's draw alongside Emma Raducanu courtesy of a straight sets victory over Japan's Mokuya Uchijima. But it wasn't to be for British No.3 Sonay Kartal, who lost out to former French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko 6-3 7-6(2). It was a similar story for George Loffhagen and Ilkley Open runner-up Jack Pinnington Jones, who each lost in three sets to Reilly Opelka and Nuno Borges respectively. Harris believes adaptation key to Eastbourne second round
Billy Harris believes adaptation was the key to thriving and not just surviving after he defeated compatriot Cameron Norrie to reach the second round at the LTA's Lexus Eastbourne Open. The Nottingham-born star and former Eastbourne semi-finalist fell short in qualifying but entered the main draw as a lucky loser, and made sure not to waste his second chance by defeating Norrie in straight sets 6-4 6-4 in a blustery battle of the Brits. Harris salvaged seven out of the eight break points in their encounter - four of which came at 5-4 in the second set as he stepped up to serve for the match - en route to clinching the contest in an hour and 25 minutes. And Harris believes that the key to his victory lay in acclimatising quicker than Norrie to the tricky conditions. "I thought it was a great match in the conditions," said Harris. "I came out quick out of the blocks so I'm very happy with how I played. "It was the two matches in qualifying and getting used to the wind that helped me get the edge at the start. "I was timing the ball a lot better in the wind today and served better and that always helps on the grass." Harris was one of several Brits in action on Tuesday, including British women's No.1 Emma Raducanu. Raducanu defeated American Ann Li in a three-set thriller 6(5)-7 6-3 6-1 to set up a second round clash with Australian teenager Maya Joint. Joining Raducanu in the round of 16 is Jodie Burrage, who defeated Japan's Mokuya Uchijima in straight sets 6-3 6-2 to confirm a meeting with reigning Wimbledon champion Barbora Kreicikova, who defeated fellow Brit Harriet Dart. Krejcikova beat Dart 6-3 6-7(4) 7-5 after two hours and 45 minutes, with the win holding an added significance as the Czech star's first of this year's grass court season. British No.3 Sonay Kartal battled bravely against Jelena Ostapenko but could not find a way past the former champion, losing 6-3 7-6(2) Elsewhere, George Loffhagen went the distance against Reilly Opelka but was ultimately defeated 7-6(6) 3-6 7-6(1) by the American. It was a similar story for Ilkley Open runner-up Jack Pinnington Jones, who lost to Portugal's Nuno Borges 4-6 6-3 6-3.
