Qatar: ‘All funds paid for residential units will be under direct supervision'
Doha: Chairman of the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Aqarat), Eng. Khalid bin Ahmed Al Obaidli, stated that the Authority was able, within a short period of time, to implement laws related to real estate development, including the escrow account, which represents a qualitative leap in this sector as it enhances transparency and investor confidence.
Al Obaidli added, in press statements on the sidelines of the first banking forum organised by the Authority, that the escrow account will be under the supervision of the Authority, meaning that all funds paid for residential units will be under the direct supervision of the
Authority.
In the same context, he pointed out the approval of the initial bond, that will be available for all residential units sold off-plan under the Authority's license and direct supervision.
The Chairman confirmed that the first meeting with the banks aims to communicate with the private sector and banks to consider mechanisms and procedures to stimulate the real estate sector and provide incentives and distinguished products. He pointed out that the Authority benefited from some of the proposals and information provided by bank officials and representatives to enhance cooperation to advance the real estate market.

Sharjah launches proactive plan for 5,600 trips during Eid Al Adha holiday
The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has put together a special plan for the upcoming Eid Al Adha holiday. This initiative is aimed at making sure travellers can enjoy comfortable and safe transportation as they celebrate the Eid. With an increase in people wanting to travel during this festive time, the SRTA is stepping up its services to ensure everyone can move smoothly between different areas in Sharjah and beyond. Engineer Yousef Khamis Al Othmani, the head of the SRTA, highlighted the importance of being well-prepared during holidays. He noted that during the Eid holiday in 2025, which runs from June 5 to 8, there will be a noticeable rise in public transport users. To handle this, the SRTA has made plans to operate 180 buses on various routes, aiming to complete around 5,600 trips over the four days. During peak times, buses will come every 5 minutes instead of the usual 45-minute wait. This means shorter waiting times and more convenience for everyone traveling. The authority is committed to making travel easy for people visiting family or exploring popular destinations, both within the emirate and outside it. They are also increasing staff at busy bus stations, especially the Jubail Bus Station, which will be open from early morning until late at night to accommodate the larger number of passengers expected during this busy holiday. The Authority has improved bus services in Sharjah City for the Eid holiday, making travel easier for everyone. They are running a total of 1,144 bus trips each day across 12 different routes, using 104 buses that connect to 543 stops around the city. During the Eid Al Adha holiday, there will be a special boat service operating between Sharjah and Dubai. Abdul Aziz Al Jarwan, who is in charge of transport at the local authority, announced that there will be four daily trips. These boats will leave from the Aquarium Station in Sharjah and arrive at Al Ghubaiba Station in Dubai, working together with Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority. Al Jarwan shared that the Authority is working closely with the Omani transport company, Mwasalat, to run international route 203. This route connects Sharjah with Muscat, the capital of Oman, and offers two flights each day. This service is expected to encourage tourism between the two countries, especially during the Eid holidays. Sharjah real estate: Kuwait developer awards $54mn infrastructure contract for Al Tay Hills project
Kuwait Real Estate Company (AQARAT) has partnered with its subsidiary, IFA Hotels and Resorts, to award an AED198 million infrastructure contract to Darwish Engineering for the Al Tay Hills residential project in Sharjah. The contract was executed through Qaryat Al Nakheel Real Estate, which serves as the project's executive arm and operates as a subsidiary of Kuwait Real Estate. Darwish Engineering, a construction firm based in the UAE, will handle the design and execution of infrastructure works, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) said in a statement. Sharjah's Al Tay Hills project The scope includes sewage networks, a wastewater treatment plant, two water pumping stations, and networks for roads, stormwater drainage, electricity, telecommunications and water systems. Khaled Esbaitah, Chairman of IFA Hotels and Resorts, said: 'Our agreement with Darwish Engineering, a company with a strong track record in the construction sector, marks a significant milestone in our vision to develop integrated urban projects that elevate standards of quality and innovation in the real estate market.' 'We are confident that this collaboration will bring a qualitative leap in the development of Al Tay Hills' infrastructure, enhancing its investment appeal and establishing it as a modern urban destination. We see this partnership as a pivotal step towards achieving our vision of building smart and sustainable residential communities,' he added. Bahaa Al-Nahwi, General Manager of Darwish Engineering, described the contract as a milestone that reinforces the company's commitment to delivering integrated engineering solutions that raise the bar for urban development in Sharjah. He confirmed that Darwish Engineering will deploy its technical expertise and resources to deliver the project within the timeline and in line with engineering standards. Al Tay Hills spans over 6 million square feet and comprises 1,100 residential units, including villas and townhouses. The development is positioned on Emirates Road and will feature a green river extending 2.5 kilometres, described as the region's longest. The first phase is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2028. The project has attracted interest from investors and buyers since its launch, positioning it as one of Sharjah's residential destinations. Demand for luxury units combining contemporary design with location highlights its market strength and potential to meet the needs of those seeking to invest in an integrated residential community.
