Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway to sell 4.3 million shares of THIS company worth over $4 billion. What we know…

Berkshire Hathaway will sell about one-third of its more than $4 billion stake in VeriSign, an internet infrastructure and domain name registry company that Warren Buffett's conglomerate has invested in since 2012, VeriSign said on Monday.
VeriSign, based in Reston, Virginia, said the sale of 4.3 million shares was intended to reduce Berkshire's stake to below 10%, a threshold that triggers regulatory obligations.
Berkshire's stake would fall to 9.6% following the sale, according to a prospectus, and Buffett's company may sell an additional 515,032 shares to meet demand. VeriSign will receive no proceeds from the sale.
As of March 31, Berkshire owned 13.29 million VeriSign shares, or about 14.2% of the company, regulatory filings show.
Those shares were worth about $4.07 billion based on VeriSign's closing price of $305.98 on Monday. VeriSign shares traded at less than one-sixth that level when Berkshire began buying.
In after-hours trading, VeriSign fell 6% to $287.77.
Berkshire ended March with $347.7 billion of cash, and through that month was a net seller of stocks for 10 straight quarters. It had nevertheless been adding to its VeriSign stake as recently as January.
Berkshire's smaller investments in technology-related companies have often been spearheaded by Buffett's portfolio managers, Todd Combs and Ted Weschler.
Buffett, 94, has run Omaha, Nebraska-based Berkshire since 1965. He is expected to step down as chief executive at year end, and be replaced by Vice Chairman Greg Abel, 63. Buffett would remain chairman.
JPMorgan Securities is underwriting the VeriSign share sale.

Software productivity platform CodeKarma raises $2.5 million from Prosus, Accel, others

ETtech CodeKarma, a software productivity platform, has raised $2.5 million in its maiden funding round led by Dutch investment firm Prosus, Silicon Valley-based venture capital (VC) firm Accel and Xeed Ventures (formerly known as 021 Capital). The company is currently valued at $10 round also saw participation from SenseAI Ventures and Stargazer Ventures. CodeKarma founder and chief executive Ananth Vanchi told ET that the company plans to use the funds to accelerate product development and innovation, expand into markets like the US, and hire new talent. The funding comes amid the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) tools that are reshaping the coding process.'Although technology was advancing a fundamental issue remained unresolved and this was a significant pain point for almost every developer engineering manager and product manager which was understanding how their product was actually functioning for the end customer,' Vanchi said. Founded in 2024, the software productivity platform enables human developers as well as AI systems by bringing real-time production insights directly into the development workflow. It helps developers in identifying hidden risks, eliminating unused code, and shipping better software faster. 'Every enterprise that has been around for at least five to six years and gone through significant product and people churn, is a clear target for our product. We natively integrate with every AI coding tool available because, as we speak, more and more code is being written by AI than by humans,' he said. The Bengaluru-based startup operates across various sectors, including ecommerce, fintech and logistics, charging enterprises based on how many microservices they use on its platform.'At least 40% of a developer's time goes into figuring out how systems are functioning, rather than improving them. CodeKarma's insights help teams understand how things are working, so they can build software better,' Vanchi added. Commenting on the investment Dhruv Gupta, investor, Prosus said, 'As AI accelerates software creation, the cost of unmanaged complexity, especially tech debt, will rise sharply. CodeKarma addresses this challenge by creating a persistent relay between production and development.''By integrating with most AI-IDEs like Cursor or Copilot to create the bridge between dev time and run time for debugging & refactoring, and especially excelling at large code bases, their platform positions them to become a critical infrastructure layer for all engineering teams,' said Subrata Mitra, partner, Accel. Last month, vision AI mobile app testing platform Drizz raised $2.7 million in its maiden funding round, which was led by early-stage venture capital firm Stellaris Venture Partners. KRT is set to become India's largest REIT by gross asset value (around Rs 62,000 crore). Its net operating income stood at Rs 3,432 crore in the previous financial year. KRT owns over 46 million sq ft of office assets across 29 assets in six cities, primarily Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. The assets include One BKC and One World Center in Mumbai, Knowledge City, and Knowledge Park in Hyderabad and Cessna Business Park and Sattva Softzone in Bengaluru. Blackstone and Sattva will continue to own about 80 per cent of the REIT. At present, there are four listed REITs (real estate investment trusts) in India — Brookfield India Real Estate Trust, Embassy Office Parks REIT, Mindspace Business Parks REIT, and Nexus Select Trust. Apart from Nexus Select Trust, the other three REITs are backed by rent-yielding office assets. Nexus owns a large portfolio of retail real estate spaces. Bengaluru-based Sattva Developers has so far constructed 74 million sq ft across seven Indian cities in commercial, residential, co-living, co-working, hospitality, and data centre sectors. An additional 75 million sq ft is in the planning and implementation stage. Blackstone, one of the leading global investment firms, has a huge exposure in the Indian real estate market. The two sponsors have decided to adopt a brand-neutral strategy to grow the KRT portfolio inorganically through third-party acquisitions. The existing four REITs have a combined portfolio of over 126 million sq ft of Grade A office and retail space across the country. Since their inception, these REITs have collectively distributed over Rs 21,000 crore to unitholders. Knowledge Realty Trust on Monday garnered Rs 1,620 crore from anchor investors ahead of its REIT public issue opening for public subscription. Those who have been allotted shares in the anchor round included TATA AIG General Insurance Company, Life Insurance Corporation of India, Nippon India Mutual Fund (MF), Axis MF, Tata MF, Amundi, Wells Capital, Jhunjhunwala Trust and 360 ONE, according to a circular uploaded on BSE's website. This initial public offering (IPO) is entirely a fresh issuance of units by Knowledge Realty Trust. In early March, KRT filed the draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) with Sebi to launch an IPO and list the REIT on stock exchanges. This is part of a strategy to monetise its 30 prime office assets across major cities. Initially, the company planned to raise a total of Rs 6,200 through a public issue. In June, it raised Rs 1,400 crore from investors. Accordingly, the issue size has been reduced to Rs 4,800 crore.
