A Doctor Who spin-off series is in the works and is set to launch on children's channel Cbeebies - targeting a whole new audience.
The pre-school animation series will bring the iconic Doctor to screens for a younger viewers.
It comes as Doctor Who was hit with changes in recent times after Ncuti sensationally left the show after just two series playing the iconic science fiction character.
TV producer Russell T Davies was the chief writer and executive producer of Doctor Who from 2005 to 2010 and returned in 2023.
The latest series was produced by Bad Wolf, who have also produced the likes of Dope Girls, Industry, I Hate Suzie and A Discovery Of Witches.
However, the BBC are advertising for a new company to create the series.

'The BBC is set to expand the Whoniverse as it launches plans for a brand new pre-school animation series which will see the Doctor's adventures come to CBeebies for the first time ever,' the announcement reads.
'The BBC is looking for a passionate production company to create and produce the series, which will run independently from the main show, that will see the Doctor travelling through time and space for the pre-school audience, solving mysteries and problems alongside their companions and other friends.
'And, of course, they may come up against one or two challenges on their way…'
BBC boss Patricia Hidalgo described it as an 'exciting opportunity.
She said: 'Everyone is welcome at CBeebies, including the Doctor!
'This much-loved franchise entertains millions around the world, so it is only right that our younger audience get to experience the wonder and the magic of the Doctor in a brand new format.
'This is an extremely exciting opportunity, and we are looking forward to welcoming companies to pitch for this new project, as we continue our commitment and investment in the UK's animation industry.'
The show will target a much younger audience than the mainline series
As a matter of policy, the BBC invites production companies to pitch for new series when they are announced.
Their official guidance explains: 'Since 2016 the BBC has been putting all new business out to competition, and tendering a number of returning network television series made by BBC Studios as part of its commitments in the BBC Charter, which sets out that 100% of relevant television content should be open to competition by the end of 2027.
'These opportunities will be open to any independent production company who meet the eligibility criteria, along with BBC Studios. The criteria will vary by programme, depending on the requirements of the show.'
It comes after Ncuti's time on Doctor Who came to an end last month when the curtains were drawn on the most recent season.
In a statement released by the BBC Ncuti, said: 'This journey has been one that I will never forget, and a role that will be part of me forever.
'There are no words to describe what it feels like to be cast as the Doctor, nor are there words to explain what it feels like to be accepted into this iconic role that has existed for over 60 years and is truly loved by so many across the globe.'
'I'll truly miss it, and forever be grateful to it, and everyone that has played a part in my journey as the Doctor,' he added.

Dave Myers' widow details two poignant wishes following Hairy Biker's death

The widow of TV chef Dave Myers, best known as one half of the Hairy Bikers, has candidly shared how she has been dealing with grief and the many different challenges The grieving widow of legendary TV presenter and chef Dave Myers has recalled two poignant wishes following his death. Dave Myers, found fame alongside Si, his friend of 30 years, as part of the motorcycle-riding cooking duo The Hairy Bikers, married Liliana Orzac in 2011. The pair met in Romania when he was filming the famous series for the BBC. She was a single mum with two children, working long hours at a modest hotel in Maramures, Romania while Dave, then 47, was a popular face on TV, whose programme was about to attract millions of viewers. ‌ Yet, the chemistry was there and, within two years, Liliana moved to the UK to live with Dave and in 2011 the couple tied the knot in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, in front of 150 guests. But just two years after being diagnosed with cancer the popular TV presenter died in February 2024 with Si by his side. ‌ Just over a year his after passing, Dave's wife Liliana Myers revealed her struggle with the loss of her soulmate. She candidly shared how she has been dealing with grief and the many different challenges. In her moving message, Liliana shared: "Three distinct experiences to report. I had my motorbike training yesterday and driving over there I was having thoughts of giving up. "Because I'd made mistakes and wobbled before, and I did not want to waste anyone's time on me. Mark, my instructor from Darbyshire motorcycle school, is the most caring person I met and he told me this. 'Lil, you can't just give up now. So many people are looking up on you as a model. You now have a voice'. Boommm... that opened my eyes." Earlier this year, Liliana revealed she has penned memoir, in a bid to honour the life of the much-loved TV chef. Announcing the new book, she said: "This past year has been incredibly challenging for me on many levels!!! But guess what? I used all my creative side and honoured Dave by writing his story. Our story. "Today is the reveal!!!" The book, Adapted from Dave And Me, will delve deeper into her life with and without Dave as the widow shares her journey from meeting Dave to his tragic demise. ‌ In her interview with the Daily Mail, Liliana said: "The truth is I do wish I'd met Dave a lot earlier in my life and I do wish I'd had more time to feel loved by him and to make him see how much happiness he brought into my world. Into the whole world." She went on to say: " I tell myself it didn't matter how much I loved him or how much he wanted to live, it wasn't going to happen and so the 'why' questions are pointless. "The longer you stay in the 'why' zone, the more prolonged the grief and the more complicated it becomes, so I'm going to try instead to focus on the wonderful 20 years Dave gave me. But I will always wish we had met earlier in life. I wish. I wish."

Dave Myers' widow warned star not to fall in love despite his 'generous heart'

Dave Myers, who with Si King was part of the Hairy Bikers, married Liliana Orzac in 2011 after the pair met in Romania when he was filming the famous series for the BBC Hairy Biker Dave Myers had "such a generous heart" and "so much love to give," his grieving widow has said. Liliana admitted she was "helpless" to fall in love with the TV chef after she met him when he was filming The Hairy Bikers ' Cookbook in Romania. However, she said she fought to "warned him (Dave) not to fall in love" with her because she felt they "were from different worlds". ‌ She was a single mum with two children, working long hours at a modest hotel in Maramures, Romania while Dave, then 47, was a popular face on TV, whose programme was about to attract millions of viewers. Yet, the chemistry was there and, within two years, Liliana moved to the UK to live with Dave. ‌ "I understood that he was a truly special person, full of warmth, wisdom and spark. I knew we were developing strong feelings for each other, but I warned him not to fall in love with me. There were too many obstacles stacked against us. We were from different worlds and I was a single mother with two children to think of: my son Sergiu, 16, and my daughter Iza, ten," Liliana said. Yet, the couple tied the knot in 2011 in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, in front of 150 guests. Marriage bliss was rocked, though, in 2022 when Dave was diagnosed with cancer. The popular TV presenter died in February 2024 with Si by his side. Liliana added: "We'd hold hands and cry, sometimes unable to move or talk, just despairing at the unfairness of it all. I knew so well the depth of Dave's pain: the desperation, the helplessness, the anger. "Desperation for the loss of the peace and safety we'd both worked so hard for and would never get back. Helplessness in the face of this invisible enemy we'd been told was going to conquer us, no matter what we did or tried. ‌ "Anger at the injustice of having his life cut short and for being dragged through all this pain, the hospital appointments and the invasive treatments, knowing there was no way out." The mum has a new book out, called Adapted from Dave And Me, in which the widow shares her journey from meeting Dave to his tragic demise. In it, she recalls how Dave fancied her in Romania - but she didn't realise. In her interview with the Daily Mail, Liliana said: "I kept my guard up and treated what we had as a friendship, but Dave exuded so much charm and happiness that I gradually realised how much had been lacking in my life. I'd never known anyone with so much vivacity, so much love to give and such a generous heart. "It was impossible not to like Dave Myers. And, so it turned out for me, impossible not to fall in love with him, either. Despite my warnings, both of us were helpless to it. So in 2007, I moved to the UK with my daughter. My son stayed behind to finish his exams and came a year later."
