Telangana caste survey draws praise of Congress top leadership
Mr. Reddy pointed out that the Telangana caste survey is a role model for the country and coined a new term for Social, Economic, Educational, Employment, Political Caste Survey calling it a 'RARE' Survey (Rahul-Revanth survey). Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka made a power point presentation to the Congress MPs at a programme in New Delhi on Wednesday (July 24, 2025) evening.
The Chief Minister said that a letter from Ms. Sonia Gandhi appreciating the socio-economic survey in Telangana was like a Nobel Prize and Lifetime Achievement Award. He claimed that he had fulfilled Rahul Gandhi's promise in the Telangana State given by Sonia Gandhi. Mr. Reddy expressed gratitude to Mr. Rahul Gandhi for praising him and his team, including the Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka for performing exceedingly well.
Mr. Gandhi has described the survey conducted by the Telangana government as a milestone. 'The caste census is not an easy subject, and thought of it as difficult for CM Revanth Reddy,' the Congress leader said. He also had a hunch the Chief Minister's community might not have agreed to the survey, but Revanth Reddy conducted the survey with enthusiasm and efficiency.
He praised the government for conducting the survey not from closed administrative rooms, but lakhs of Telangana people from all social classes opened their doors and participated in this survey.
The Telangana government possessed an important social, economic, educational, employment, political and caste survey data which required for the 21st century. With this data, development in any field, social, economic, educational, health, etc., can be achieved from the village to the State level. He proudly says that no other state in the country except Telangana has the opportunity to provide such targeted development, Mr. Gandhi remarked.
The AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge too praised the Telangana Government for successfully conducting the Caste Survey which set a new direction for the country. Kharge described the caste survey as a bold step taken by Chief Minister. He also praised Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi for promoting the caste census in Telangana and fulfilling the promise made during the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
'Rahul was responsible for not only raising the issue of caste census, but also saving the Constitution with the slogan 'Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan'. Prime Minister Modi agreed to conduct a caste census along with the Population Census under the pressure from Rahul Gandhi,' the AICC President said.

‘Never thought we would see his face again': 19-year-old Bengal migrant returns weeks after sent to Bangladesh
A 19-year-old Bengali migrant who was detained by Rajasthan police on June 19 and later deported to Bangladesh has finally returned home, his family and local leaders said on Tuesday. The case came to light after a video of Amir Sheikh, filmed in Bangladesh, circulated on social media. Amir, a resident of Jalalpur village under Kaliachowk police station in Malda, had gone to Rajasthan to work as a construction labourer. However, his family lost contact with him after his detention. Amir lost his mother five years ago and his father works as a migrant labourer in Uttar Pradesh. Ajmal said the family first saw the video last month and learned that Amir had been pushed into Bangladesh. ' We got a call last evening from someone in Basirhat. I did not know who he was. We then spoke with Amir on video call. I identified him. He said he was in a Bangladesh jail. Then we were told that he would be brought back. This morning we received another call stating that he is with the BSF. We are waiting for further instructions,' Ajmal said. In a video message on social media, Isha Khan Choudhury, Congress MP from Malda Dakshin Lok Sabha constituency, said central agencies and the Border Security Forces (BSF) had traced Amir. 'We are happy to share with the people of the constituency and press colleagues that a wrongly expelled Indian citizen was traced in Bangladesh by the central government and BSF,' she said. After being detained in the labour camp in Rajasthan, Mr Amir Sheikh is being released today. BSF ADG of West Bengal told me that Amir Sheikh is now in BSF control. They will inform the family today about the development.' 'Earlier I had spoken to the home secretary and BSF DG over the issue. I hope such an incident never takes place in the country. Indian citizens and travel throughout the country. It is a fundamental right. It is sad that the person was arrested and deported. But today is a happy day that he has been brought back to India,' added Choudhury in his message. Amid such a situation, the central government is now trying to repatriate Amir Sheikh to his Malda home to save face and avoid the legal blow for the illegal pushback,' Islam added. ' One has to do something so that this trend of pushing out our Bengal residents to Bangladesh stops. There should be proper rehabilitation for such victims,' said Asif Faruk, state general secretary of the Parijayi Sramik Aikya Manch (Migrant Workers' Unity Forum). In the video last month, accessed by The Indian Express, Amir Sheikh is seen speaking to residents in Bangladesh. He identifies himself, shares his West Bengal address, and alleges that after being detained for two months, he was recently sent across the border into Bangladesh. The incident comes in the wake of similar cases across several states, including Haryana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Delhi and Madhya Pradesh. On June 14, seven residents of West Bengal were detained in Mumbai and later pushed into Bangladesh by the BSF. After intervention by the West Bengal government, four youths from Murshidabad, one from Purba Bardhaman and a husband-wife duo from North 24 Parganas were brought back.

Five MPs urge Speaker to act against AI over flight diversion
NEW DELHI: Five MPs, including Congress's general secretary, organisation, K C Venugopal, on Tuesday wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla over the diversion of the Thiruvananthapuram-Delhi flight they were on to Chennai and demanded action on alleged "bre-ach of privilege" by Air India. Venugopal and his party colleagues K Suresh, Adoor Prakash and Robert Bruce, along with CPI(M)'s K Radhakrishnan, also wrote to civil aviation minister Rammohan Naidu. They have demanded a time-bound investigation and asked that its findings be made public. In their letter to Birla, the five MPs said they wanted to bring to his attention the matter involving a "grave breach of privilege" by Air India, arising from events on Flight AI 2455 on August 10.
