On May 20, Bruce Feldman, a
College Football
Beat Writer at
The Athletic
, released the Top 25 College Football Player list. Immediately, Jonathan Williams, Multimedia Sports Journalist at Sports Illustrated, shared that it did not have a name!
Jadeveon Clowney
.
Someone whose stats are far better than the ones listed in the Top 25. For instance, it had New Orleans Saints DE Chase Young, who accumulated 99 tackles, 30.5 sacks, and 43 tackles for loss in his college football career. Jadeveon Clowney, former linebacker at the Houston Texans, scored 129 tackles, 24 sacks, and 48 tackles for loss.
Jadeveon Clowney was dropped from the
Top 25 College Football Players
list after parting ways with the
Carolina Panthers
Getting snubbed from a list where you were one of the best more than a decade ago - hurts differently.
To rub salt in the wound, this loss comes right after the Carolina Panthers released the 32-year-old outside linebacker, Jadeveon Clowney. A quote can be of service here, and it's straight from the source: Jadeveon Clowney wrote on his X back in March 2022 - Never allow someone the power to create a narrative about your character; stay true to yourself.

Amid outpour of sympathy for Shreyas Iyer, former India World Cup winner says team can win Asia Cup

The announcement of India's squad for the upcoming Asia Cup has led to some polarised reactions, as is usually the case whenever any team is announced for the country leading up to a tournament or series. Most of the criticism is centered around the fact that Shreyas Iyer hasn't been included despite scoring 604 runs at a strike rate of 175.07 in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). However, there has also been a sense that the squad India have picked is briming with talent anyhow and former World Cup-winner Madan Lal has said that he feels they will win the Asia Cup. The former all-rounder, who was part of the team that won the 1983 World Cup, admitted that he is surprised by the ommission of Yashasvi Jaiswal but is happy that Shubman Gill has been selected. 'Sometimes you feel surprised that a player like Yashasvi Jaiswal is not in the team,' Lal told ANI. 'Gill is a good choice as he is performing well. In the coming time, it is possible that Gill will play in all three formats… The players who make the team win a match must not be left out. We have such a good team that we may win the Asia Cup.' Chief selector Ajit Agarkar said that Iyer is not at fault at all for missing the bus. 'It's unfortunate that Shreyas Iyer misses out. It's no fault of his, neither ours. He has to wait for his chance,' chief selector Ajit Agarkar said. 'We have got some serious options in T20 squad…sometimes not the easiest squad to pick but good headache to have,' he added. Along with the main squad of 15, the selectors also named 5 players as standbys but Iyer's name wasn't in that list as well. However, Agarkar said that this was not the final team for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026. Iyer walloped over 600 runs for the first time in an IPL season in 2025, with his 175.07 strike rate ranking the best among all batters. He also clobbered 39 sixes as Punjab finished runners-up under his leadership. For India in 51 T20Is, the Mumbaikar has recorded 1104 runs, averaging 30.66.

Subramaniam Badrinath slams Ajit Agarkar: ‘Calling Shreyas Iyer's Asia Cup snub ‘unlucky' is a ‘convenient route'

Former India cricketer Subramaniam Badrinath slammed chief India selector Ajit Agarkar for ignoring Shreyas Iyer from the Indian T20I team for the upcoming Asia Cup set to be played in the UAE. Badrinath said Agarkar calling Iyer's snub 'unlucky' is just a 'convenient route'. Agarkar, while announcing India's squad for the Asia Cup, said of Iyer, 'With regards to Shreyas, not his fault, nor is it ours. It's just that you can pick 15 and at the moment you'll have to wait for his chance.' In this reply, Badrinath said on his YouTube channel, 'He definitely deserved to get selected. Ajit Agarkar said he was unlucky but that's just a convenient route. Iyer has produced excellent numbers over the last two years and done brilliantly as a captain as well. Instead, they picked Shivam Dube and Rinku Singh for the No. 5 position. Last one year, both have done virtually nothing, with poor numbers.' Having scored 604 runs at a strike rate of 175.07 in IPL 2025 while leading Punjab Kings to the final, Shreyas was expected to make the cut for India's T20I team. However, the Indian selectors not just excluded Iyer, they did not even name him among the five reserves of the team. Badrinath advocated that Shreyas, who is an excellent player of spin and a great finisher, can slot in at No. 5 for India. 'This is not even a 50-50 decision. Shreyas Iyer should have definitely got a look-in. One can say he has batted at No. 3 for his IPL side. But he can easily play at No. 5 for India being an excellent player of spin and a great finisher,' he said. 'Especially now, without Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, his (Shreyas) experience and leadership is much needed in the team. More than unlucky, this feels like a likeability factor playing a role in selection,' he added. While Iyer missed out on the Asia Cup squad with Indian selectors showed faith in the likes of Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Rinku Singh and captain Suryakumar Yadav for the middle order role in the final 15-member squad, the five reserve players list also did not have Iyer's name.
