Valdosta Police seize drugs, firearms in Ginny Drive sweep
VALDOSTA, Ga. (WSAV) — A Thursday search warrant from the Valdosta Police Department (VPD) revealed large amounts of narcotics and firearms at a Ginny Drive residence.
The department along with Narcotics Detectives searched the residence on Feb. 20. There, Jeffery Xavier Waldon, 37, was present.
A sweeping search of Waldon's property uncovered two firearms, over 108 grams of cocaine, and over 35 grams of marijuana, both of which were packaged for narcotics sales. Detectives also located over 10 grams of crack cocaine, over 40 Fentanyl pills, over 60 Tramadol pills, and 10 Acetaminophen with codeine pills. Detectives found tools and currency which are also indicative of narcotics sales.
Waldon was arrested on the scene without incident and taken to Lowndes County Jail. Waldon is facing multiple felony charges, including two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, Trafficking cocaine, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of Schedule II (Fentanyl) controlled substance with the intent to distribute, possession of Schedule III (Tylenol 3) controlled substance with the intent to distribute and possession of Schedule IV (Tramadol) controlled substance with the intent to distribute-felony.
He also faces a misdemeanor charge for possession of drug-related items.
'This was great work by our Narcotics Detectives, who not only seized dangerous narcotics, preventing them from reaching our streets, but they also took firearms out of the hands of a convicted felon,' said Chief Leslie Manahan.

Man dies from suspected overdose, 2 arrested on drug charges
GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) — Two men have been arrested on drug charges after an investigation into a suspected overdose death. Glynn County Police Department (GCPD) officers responded to the Friendly Express Gas Station on Perry Road around 10 p.m. Thursday for a death investigation. Officers found a dead man inside a company box truck. Two individuals identified as Willie Thomas and Jamie Schneider, both residents of North Carolina, were present at the scene. As part of the investigation, officers recovered suspected cocaine, crack cocaine, marijuana, and fentanyl, along with a stolen Glock handgun, a digital scale and a glass smoking device commonly associated with narcotics use from the truck. The deceased man is suspected to have died from a drug overdose, a GCPD spokesperson said. His body was reportedly transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Crime Lab for a full autopsy to determine the official cause of death. This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Honduran nationals indicted after 52,000 fentanyl pills and cash were seized

SALT LAKE CITY () — Three Honduran nationals were indicted for allegedly distributing illegal drugs throughout Salt Lake County. Police seized 52,000 fentanyl pills and over $47,000 in cash. Jairo Roney Cabrera-Escoto, 40, of North Carolina and Cristian Eriberto Romero-Soto, 24, and Daniel Jose Felix-Aleman, 24, both of Sandy, Utah were indicted on April 16 in federal court. According to a press release from the Utah District U.S. Attorney's Office, they were indicted in April, but the documents were just unsealed Thursday. Reportedly, the three men were living in the U.S. illegally. The three men are being charged with conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and conspiracy to distribute heroin, among other charges. Romero-Soto is charged with reentry of a previously removed alien in addition to the drug-related charges. The investigation began in November 2024, when detectives with the Utah County Major Crimes Task Force began investigating a group for distributing illegal drugs in Salt Lake County. Officials say that undercover agents purchased fentanyl during 'several controlled purchases.' Romero-Soto was arrested following the search. Cabrera-Escoto was arrested on June 6 in the Middle District of North Carolina. Romero-Soto and Felix-Aleman had their initial court appearances on April 18, and Cabrera-Escoto will have his initial appearance at 'a later date,' according to officials. The case is being investigated jointly by the FBI Salt Lake City Field Office, Utah County Major Crimes Task Force, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
