Man drives ₹1.8 crore car as ride-hailing cab, earns over ₹46,000 in a day

Hindustan Times24-04-2025

A 30-year-old man from China is going viral for using a luxury Mercedes-Maybach S480 as a ride-hailing car and making more than ₹58,000 in just one trip, according to South China Morning Post.
The man, surnamed Yuan, lives in Beijing and runs a social media account titled 'Old Yuan Drives a Maybach for Ride-Hailing.' His unique profession has attracted nearly 120,000 followers online.
Originally from Henan province in northern China, Yuan has been working in the luxury ride-hailing business since 2019. On November 1 last year, he bought the Maybach for 1.55 million yuan (approximately ₹1.80 crore) and began documenting his journey to break even.
In a video shared on April 13, Yuan revealed that he started his day at 6:45 AM and earned 4,000 yuan (around ₹46,000) by completing a full-day ride. He said, 'Let's go! Driving a luxury Maybach ride-hailing car is not only my job but also my livelihood. Currently, the Maybach model can only be specifically ordered for ride-hailing in Beijing and Shanghai.'
He added, 'It is uncertain when it will be available in other cities, so please watch rationally.'

Speaking to Haibao News on April 15, Yuan said he made a down payment of 680,000 yuan ( ₹79.7 lakh), of which 500,000 yuan ( ₹58.6 lakh) came from his savings over six years. The remaining amount was covered through a five-year loan, with monthly EMIs of 14,466 yuan ( ₹1.7 lakh).
Yuan said he focuses on quality rather than quantity by catering to high-end, pre-booked clients. He handles around 40 rides a month, and some of them pay more than 5,000 yuan (about ₹58,600) per trip. Despite expenses, he claims to save nearly 10,000 yuan ( ₹1.1 lakh) every month while maintaining a relaxed lifestyle.
'My monthly fuel costs are about 3,000 yuan ( ₹35,000). I spend another 2,000 to 3,000 yuan ( ₹23,000 to ₹35,000) on food, and rent is 4,500 yuan ( ₹52,700). I still have some savings left. The best part is that I get to drive a Maybach at only 30 and still save close to 10,000 yuan a month,' Yuan said.
His story has sparked lively conversations online. A user wrote, 'So is he rich or not? If he is rich, why is he still doing ride-hailing? If he is not, how is he driving a Maybach?'
Another added, "I just checked the fares for an S-class Mercedes, 5.5 km costs nearly 300 yuan ( ₹3,500). Who on earth is hailing a Maybach? I am not sure I will ever get to ride one in this lifetime.'

Portronics Mopcop 4 car vacuum cleaner review: Does it worth buying and keeping in your car?

When it comes to user experience for car owners, a lot depends on the experience inside the cabin of the vehicle. While a range of features often define the user experience, cleanliness and good hygiene also play key roles in that. Many car owners often take their vehicles to local shops, fuel stations to clean the exterior and interior of their cars. However, many owners rely on doing things on their own. A few accessories can be highly useful if you also believe in the DIY (Do It Yourself) method. Portronics Mopcop 4 car vacuum cleaner comes as a handy car accessory that can be useful to clean the car's interior with or without a power cord plugged in. Deep cleaning the interior once in a while is a useful solution to keep the cabin odour-free and hygienic. Besides that, regular vacuuming can ensure the car's interior remains free of dust particles and day-to-day dirt as well. This can be done easily with car vacuum cleaners, available in the market, online and offline. Portronics Mopcop 4 car vacuum cleaner: Design and build The Portronics Mopcop 4 car vacuum cleaner comes with a sleek and compact appearance. It comes wearing a black and silver colour finish. Despite being built of plastic, it seems sturdy thanks to the tough build quality. The manufacturer claims the filter is washable and reusable, which is visible through the transparent front panel. It gets a one-press dust reliever button as well. It gets a wide range of multi-purpose nozzles provided with the device that allow the user to clean the car's interior nooks and corners. The Portronics Mopcop 4 has a single push button to operate the device. Using this same button, one can turn on or off the device and toggle between the normal (Eco) and high (Max) vacuuming speeds. It has an LED light, which could be handy in dark conditions. There is an LED digital display showing the mode of vacuuming. The vacuum cleaner comes with a long power cable, which measures nearly four and a half meters in length. It can be used to plug into the in-car DC 12V socket and power the device. Unlike many other car vacuum cleaners, the Mopcop 4 comes with an inbuilt battery, which allows the device to run without being plugged into the charging socket as well. The manufacturer provides a Type A to Type C cable as well, which can be used to power the battery pack of the device for cordless use later. Portronics Mopcop 4 car vacuum cleaner gets a wide range of multi-purpose nozzles provided with the device that allow the user to clean the car's interior nooks and corners. Portronics Mopcop 4 car vacuum cleaner: Performance This Mopcop 4 is primarily a car vacuum cleaner that worked pretty well during our review. It was easy to reach the nooks and corners of the interior of the car using the different multi-purpose nozzles. During our review, we didn't try to clean any wet dirt, but while trying to clean the dry dirt from seats, floor mats, and dashboard, the result was satisfactory. While the vacuum cleaner works well when it is plugged into the 12V DC socket, we also tried to test the device's battery for about 20 minutes at a stretch, blending both the vacuuming modes, and it worked well. Portronics Mopcop 4 car vacuum cleaner: Verdict The Portronics Mopcop 4 car vacuum cleaner comes as a useful device, promising the functionality of keeping the interior clean for day-to-day use. At a sticker price of about ₹3,000, this device is a handy one to keep in the car, but remember that at a similar or cheaper cost, there are some car vacuum cleaners in the market that offer the functionality of tyre inflator as well. Unusual hiring: Nature reserve recruits dancing ‘savages' for ₹6,000 per day

In a bizarre hiring incident, a nature reserve has hired people to pose as dancing savages for tourists for a whopping ₹ 6,000 (500 yuan) daily. These unusual hirings were reported at China's Shennongjia National Nature Reserve in Hubei. According to the South China Morning Post, about 10,000 people applied for the job of being savages at the tourist destination, which is also included in the UNESCO World Heritage list. The Shennongjia tour zone features primaeval ecology, rich biodiversity, and legends about savages in its mountains. The area's average summer temperature is around 20 degrees Celsius, making it a favoured tourist destination. To make the legends about savages more realistic for the tourists, the nature reserve is looking to hire 16 people to work as savages in the reserve from July to August. The recruitment advertisement stated that those seeking a job as savages at the nature reserve were required to wear savage clothing, patrol the forest area, dance for tourists, and engage in other interactions with tourists. They will also be required to film their work and share the videos on social media. Additionally, they are also expected to accept and eat food given to them by tourists. 'Those who like to eat raw food will also be given priority,' it added. The savage workers have been asked not to talk to tourists unless asked for directions to the toilets. They are allowed to make only a purring noise when interacting with tourists. The company said there is no gender or age limit for candidates, but they should provide medical documents to prove they are physically healthy. 'Those with an open personality, who are creative in shooting short videos and accustomed to living in the wild for a long time, will be preferred,' the company said. The savage workers have also been forbidden from touching wild animals and have been advised to 'run away immediately' if they encounter unidentified creatures.

Here's how Kushaq Sales to Rebound in 1-2 Months: Skoda India Chief The Skoda Kushaq has experienced a decline in sales in recent months, largely due to the cannibalisation by the newly launched Kylaq, which shares similar underpinnings and features. Since its launch in March, the Kylaq has seen impressive growth, drawing customers away from its elder sibling. But Skoda Auto India Managing Director Ashish Gupta is confident that Kushaq will recapture its sales momentum in the next one or two months. Gupta credited the slump to dealers getting accustomed to a new customer base brought about by the Kylaq. He stated that demand for the Kushaq is still high, but the dealers are on a learning curve to deal with two different buyer profiles. With this adjustment happening quickly under sales pressure, Gupta expressed confidence in the Kushaq's recovery in the near future.
