I'm Panathinaikos' star man - here's why we'll beat Rangers

Panathinaikos this week rejected a bumper bid for their Greek international full back Vagiannidis from Sporting because they have vowed not to sell anyone until after their tie with Russell Martin's side.
And ex-Inter Milan star Vagiannidis is certain they will be celebrating after the second leg in Athens.

He said: "I don't know anything about a transfer - all I am concentrating on is playing Rangers and helping us reach the Champions League.
"I think Rangers will be our strongest test to get to the Champions League, even including the next round if we get through.
"All the teams were good in the draw, but Rangers were probably the toughest opponents fr us.
"But with the quality that exists in the squad now, I am convinced we will definitely beat them over two legs.
"I also think that the work we have been doing in pre-season will set us up perfectly to prepare for Rangers. We have been working very hard on the fitness side of things. We are preparing with two games in mind - both legs against Rangers.
"Of course I know about the speculation, but I've had that for a couple of years now. It means I am doing something right if I am being linked to top teams.
"But I repeat, all I am thinking about is getting through against Rangers.
"I believe the chemistry in the squad is the best it has ever been. Last season, perhaps we lacked consistency, but I don't think that will be an issue this time."

Ben Stokes' X-rated reaction after suffering painful injury in England vs India

Ben Stokes suffered every batter's nightmare when he was struck by a fast ball from Mohammed Siraj during the fourth day of the third Test match against India at Lord's England captain Ben Stokes left viewers in no doubt about where the ball had hit him after taking a nasty blow against India. Stokes was batting with Joe Root for the home side in the third Test match against India at Lord's on Sunday when a ball from Mohammed Siraj hurt him. ‌ The match has been played with a feisty edge, with Zak Crawley getting some abuse from the Indian team at the end of day three on Saturday following some obvious time wasting. ‌ That edge continued on day four, with Siraj giving Ben Duckett a send-off after dismissing him in the first session. But there was a lighter tone after Siraj nipped the ball back into Stokes, hitting him in the nether regions. 'Ohhhh, in the d***, in the d***, in the d***' Stokes said as he crumpled to the floor. The England skipper then lay down on the pitch for some time, waiting for the pain of being hit in the box to subside. Siraj walked down to enquire politely if he was alright, while Root was seen with a big grin on his face. The moment was greatly enjoyed by those commentating too. ‌ 'Attempted pull shot,' Stokes' former team-mate Stuart Broad said on commentary for Sky Sports before laughing at his reaction. 'I shouldn't laugh, that's painful.' As the camera from the stumps showed Stokes prone on the ground, he added: 'That's interesting footage from there.' With the over from Siraj at a close, ex-England captain Nasser Hussain then joked: 'No balls left in the over.' And as the replay was shown on the big screen at Lord's, the crowd collectively groaned. ‌ Commentating on BBC 's Test Match Special, Simon Mann said: 'Was that bullseye? Everyone laughs apart from you. Excruciating pain. Ah he's OK – he's at the non-strikers' end." The painful moment came from the final ball of Siraj's over, giving Stokes time to recover, with Root facing the next ball from the other end. It happened with England on 115/4 at the end of the 29th over of the day. Having started on 2-0, it was definitely India's morning, with four wickets going down in the first session. Duckett hit a pull shot straight to mid-on to depart for 12 before Ollie Pope's second-innings struggles continued as he was pinned lbw by Siraj for four. Crawley was caught in the gully playing an expansive drive off Nitish Kumar Reddy for 22 before Harry Brook was bowled trying to sweep Akash Deep on the stroke of lunch. Stokes and Root then came together to try and settle things down, knowing they need to bat time in order to post a decent score, with the series on the line at 1-1.

John Souttar 'targeted' by Trabzonspor as Rangers transfer resolve tested with contract ticking down

Souttar is into the final year of his contract with Gers and is free to speak to other clubs in January if a new deal can't be agreed John Souttar is reportedly a transfer target for Turkish club Trabzonspor - who include two of his former Rangers teammates amongst their ranks. Scotland international Souttar is into the final 12 months of his contract at Ibrox, with Gers running the risk of losing him for nothing next summer. ‌ The former Dundee United and Hearts star is back in training but has yet to feature for new boss Russell Martin in the pre-season friendly schedule so far as he recovers from undergoing hernia surgery in the wake of Scotland 's friendly double header against Iceland and Liechtenstein last month. ‌ And Turtkish outlet Ajansspor claim that he is subject of interest from the Trabzon-based club. They report that Trabzonspor both Fatih Tekke is looking to bolster his defensive options as sees the 28-year-old as an ideal fit. Were the move to happen, then Souttar could be reunited with ex Rangers pals John Lundstram and Borna Barisic. However it might not be for long, with Trabzonspor said to be pushing to get both players off the books this summer. The duo arrived in Turkey 12 months ago following their departures from Ibrox under freedom of contract. However, it proved to be a disappointing campaign for both, with midfielder Lundstram facing calls to have his contract TERMINATED from sections of the club's fanbase just weeks after his arrival following Trabzonspor's Conference League exit to Swiss side St Gallen on penalties. Croatia international Barisic endured a torrid year with injury and made just 15 appearances in total before being shipped out on loan to La Liga outfit Leganes, where he suffered a serious cruciate ligament tear that ended his participation in the remainder of the season just 10 minutes into his debut against Valencia. ‌ Turkish outlet Karadeniz claim that Barisic could leave the club on a free transfer if a mutual agreement can be struck. The defender has a year remaining on his deal and will reportedly require Trabzonspor to pay him €1.8million upfront to release him from his duties. Lundstram is under contract until 2027 and the report adds that while no offers have been submitted, clubs in the Middle East are keeping tabs. ‌ You can get all the news you need on our dedicated Rangers and Celtic pages, and sign up to our newsletters to make sure you never miss a beat throughout the season.
