Huda Kattan is taking her power back – and with that, her entire business.
In a move that feels both bold and deeply personal, the beauty mogul has officially bought back full ownership of Huda Beauty, ending her eight-year partnership with TSG Consumer Partners.
Back in 2017, TSG took a minority stake in the brand. Fast forward to 2025, and Huda has reclaimed every bit of it, making Huda Beauty one of the rare founder-fully-owned brands in the beauty world today.
'Taking back full ownership of Huda Beauty is a deeply very important moment for me,' Huda said in a statement. 'It says that while many of us dreamers have visions that we are told are too big or not possible to do alone, in actuality, you have all the power you need to change the world yourself!'
From what started as a beauty blog in 2010 to launching her first product (false lashes, naturally) in Sephora Dubai with a $6,000 loan from her sister Alya, Huda has gone on to build one of the biggest beauty empires in the last 10 years. Photo: Huda Beauty
Now, with her husband, Christopher Goncalo, as Co-CEO and her sister Alya leading social strategy, Huda Beauty is, once again, a full family affair.
Huda's focus now? Doubling down on community, authenticity, and products that speak to the real people wearing them.
'This brand was built on passion, creativity, and a desire to challenge the beauty industry,' Huda added in her statement. 'As we step into this new chapter, I'm more committed than ever to pushing boundaries, staying true to our roots, and showing up for our incredible community every step of the way.'
The news of Huda taking full ownership back of her namesake brand comes four months after she revealed she was parting ways in business from her sister Mona Kattan and her fragrance brand Kayali.
Both brands were founded by sisters Huda and Mona Kattan, first with Huda Beauty over a decade ago, followed by Kayali in 2018, which previously sat under the Huda Beauty empire.
But for Huda Beauty, with a fresh logo, new launches on the horizon, and a founder fully at the wheel, the Dubai-founded beauty brand is stepping into its next era.

This Might Be Gucci's Most Seductive Flora Scent Yet

Photo: Supplied More often than not, 'intense' fragrance flankers are just louder versions of the original. But not this one. Gucci's Flora Gorgeous Gardenia Intense is that rare sequel that actually improves on perfection. Master perfumer Honorine Blanc took the sun-drenched innocence of the original and dipped it in something darker, sexier. Think zesty Italian mandarin, gardenia petals drenched in buttery richness, and sandalwood that lingers and seduces. The juice looks like liquid rubies in that gemstone colored bottle (which, let's be honest, you'll display like art on your dressing table). And that gilded Flora motif? Pure vintage Gucci glam. We can safely say this is a more intoxicating scent guaranteed to have people asking 'what are you wearing?' – just in time for summer. GRAZIA Middle East sat down with Blanc to get an exclusive first look into the world of Flora Gorgeous Gardenia Intense. Here's everything you need to know about summer's most anticipated fragrance launch… Photo: Supplied What was the inspiration behind Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia Intense, and how does it differ from the original? The inspiration was to amplify the joy, femininity, and emotional freedom of the original Flora Gorgeous Gardenia but in a more profound, sensual, and textured way. I wanted to keep its DNA, the feeling of happiness and living in the moment, but express it in a richer, more enveloping form. The original is like the birth of happiness – this one is happiness intensified. Every element was deepened, the brightness is bolder, the sensuality stronger, and the trail longer-lasting. Why was it important to create a longer-lasting, more intense version? Gardenia is a fascinating flower, visually delicate but with real presence and attitude. It has so many layers, and that complexity made it the perfect foundation to build something more powerful. The original was already joyful and luminous, but I saw the opportunity to reveal another side of the flower – one that's more glamorous, sensual, and emotionally resonant. It naturally lent itself to going deeper without losing its elegance. What was the biggest challenge in creating this 'intense' version while maintaining the essence of the original? The challenge is always balance. You want to evolve the fragrance without overpowering its soul. I had to be loyal to what made the original beloved, while adding contrast, richness, and newness. It's easy to overdo intensity but I believe in letting the ingredients shine, not burying them. It's like dressing – when something is beautifully made, you don't need to over-accessorise. Each note needs space to glow. How does it align with the Gucci Flora collection's themes of freedom, femininity, and empowerment? This fragrance is all about emotional freedom, about fully embracing who you are in the moment. It's joyful but not naive. It's feminine but strong. It's soft but powerful. That duality is what makes it empowering. You feel free, sensual, and radiant – like you can do anything. I wanted it to be a scent that reminds you of your beauty, your confidence, your happiness. My happy place is in the process of creation, when I'm working with beautiful raw materials and something magical happens. Even after 30 years, I can smell a combination and suddenly think, 'Oh my God, what just happened?' That moment of discovery, of surprise, is pure joy to me. I create not to be successful but because I want my fragrances to offer something beautiful and emotional to the world. What do you hope wearers experience and feel when they wear Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia Intense? I hope they feel a true moment of joy, a kind of emotional uplift that stays with them. I want this fragrance to bring beauty and happiness into people's lives, no matter where they are in the world. It's about sharing emotion, not ego. My goal is for the fragrance to give something meaningful – whether it's confidence, sensuality, or simply feeling beautiful and free in your own skin. How do you see this scent evolving on different wearers throughout the day? It's a fragrance with many layers. On different skin, it will unfold in unique ways. The mandarin and pink pepper open with energy and brightness, then the gardenia and jasmine bring softness and allure. By the end of the day, the patchouli and sandalwood wrap the skin in warmth and comfort. It's like a journey from joy to sensuality to serenity. What makes a floral fragrance truly stand out in today's crowded market? It's the emotional connection. When a fragrance isn't just a scent, but a feeling. I love surprises in perfumery, and when a floral can evolve, reveal new layers, and take you somewhere unexpected, that's when it stands out. It should feel like a discovery. Creating beauty is beautiful, but discovering something new within that beauty is what makes it unforgettable. Photo: Supplied Given the strong and rich perfume culture in the Middle East, how do you see Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia Intense resonating with consumers here? I believe it will resonate beautifully. The Middle Eastern fragrance culture appreciates intensity, complexity, and craftsmanship. This scent delivers all of that, while remaining elegant and modern. It's floral but with richness, warmth, and depth that speak to the sensuality and sophistication loved in the region. It's a joyful yet powerful expression. Have your travels or experiences in the Middle East influenced your approach to perfumery? Yes, absolutely. The region's appreciation for boldness, beauty, and storytelling through scent has influenced how I think about contrast and emotion in fragrance. There's a reverence for ingredients, for longevity and for fragrances that evolve with the skin. All of which I consider when I build intensity and richness. Even in this creation, those sensibilities are present. Describe the scent in three words… Joyful. Feminine. Empowering. What are your fragrance rituals? I pulse important spots like the neck and wrists, being cautious not to rub. Doing this leaves a gentle, noticeable trail from the mist on clothes or in the hair. What's your earliest scent memory? The delicate fragrance of gardenias blooming on the balcony outside my childhood bedroom. If you could only wear one fragrance note for the rest of your life, what would it be and why? I would have to say musk because I love the intense, soft sensuality of the skin that it evokes. It's one of the most personal ingredients – very reptilian – and I cherish the tension it creates between softness and intensity. Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia Intense will be available exclusively at Sephora Middle East from August 1st. topics: PERFUME, Fragrance, SCENT, Perfumer, gucci beauty

Dior Makeup's Peter Philips On How The House Is Flipping The Script In The Beauty World

Photo: GRAZIA I've set my phone down after a 15-minute doom scroll on TikTok. At this point in time, and algorithms, I'm finding myself immersed in the so-called 'beauty blindness' side of the app. This is by no means a new concept in the world of TikTok, nor, in fact, in the beauty world in general – well, perhaps the name, but that's about it. For decades, we have long been embracing trends; with time, they fade away, and we look back more often than not, thinking the same thing: why on earth did we do that to ourselves? In the '90s, it was paper-thin eyebrows, followed by foundation lips in the 2000s, which was then succeeded by the 'full beat' in the 2010s. And now? Well, it's hard to pinpoint; we're in a world of micro trends, making it all but impossible to keep up. So, it poses the question, as a consumer – and someone who is on the periphery of the beauty industry – how are brands able to stay ahead of the curve? According to Peter Philips, creative & image director of Dior Makeup, it's about 'challenging' the market, which is exactly what he did eight years ago, launching the now-famed Dior Backstage line. At a time when, as Philips notes, many indie brands were emerging, Dior looked at creating a 'line to attract and seduce a younger audience that was maybe a bit too intimidated' by the house's more luxurious collections. 'We needed to really do something, to not become an old brand,' he tells me, sitting down together in Dubai. 'So, the idea of the Backstage line was created as almost a no-brainer line, as if a makeup artist was doing your makeup. The palettes were made in a way that you couldn't make any mistakes. We had a mistake-proof foundation with a guaranteed makeup result.' That was all back in 2018, of course. Fast-forward to 2025, we're in a very different landscape across the board, but particularly in the beauty space. Now more than ever, consumers are more educated about the makeup they are wearing, how they are applying it and what a great product is (and what it isn't), which is a stark change to the rationale originally behind the creation of the Dior Backstage line. 'The younger generation, they change, and they are now so knowledgeable, they know everything,' Philips notes. 'We don't have to give them an easy, no-brainer and makeup line anymore, because they want to be challenged. They want to be excited. They know they know how to do makeup.' Dior Addict Lip Glow Butter in 101 Glazed Pink, 103 Toffee, 105 Lychee, DIOR, SHOP NOW Enter a new era for Dior Backstage, bringing more playfulness and colour into the line, which Philips describes as a 'yummy, less professional and a bit more fun' iteration. The latest addition to the Backstage family is a vibrant trio: the Rosy Glow Stick, an updated Rosy Glow Powder Blush, and a nourishing Lip Glow Butter. While the original Rosy Glow blush has long been a cult favourite – thanks to its pH-reactive formula that adjusts to the skin's chemistry – the new stick version brings the same smart technology in a buttery cream texture that melts into skin for a dewy, g lowy finish. A sign of the times indeed. A mere eight years ago it was a matte finish that was all the rage. No glow in sight. 'The beauty landscape has been evolving constantly,' Philips highlights. 'It's very organic. It's very diverse. There is so much happening. At Dior, I feel we've been really good by staying in touch without losing our credibility as an established house.' For Philips, it's been about finding a balancing act between the house's loyal clientele over generations, while also attracting a new audience. 'We don't want to be estranged from our loyal clients, but we always try to seduce young, younger generations to discover Dior so they don't feel that they have an old brand,' he says. 'It's just by, first of all, being constant and delivering your quality. Because of social media and because of the openness around makeup, there's no mystery about the product.' Which takes us back to my initial question: How do you really stay ahead of the curve? '[By] keeping your ears and your eyes open with respect towards your clients and your possible clients, you stay relevant,' Philips affirms. Dior Backstage Rosy Glow Stick, DIOR, SHOP NOW. Following trends, though? Absolutely not. 'It's not about trying to create a trend or trying to be hype, because that's not up to us,' he adds. 'It's the people who use your products that will create a trend or make it hype. All we have to do is make sure that we deliver and give a good tool for them to check and they can experiment and have fun with it.' Well, if the last decade at Dior Makeup is anything to go on, Philips is continually on the money about what will deliver the next global success. In fact, after having a quick scroll, I see the Rosy Glow Stick is firmly on my feed.
