Nova listeners demand to know where Kate Ritchie is as radio station makes a major announcement after star's months long absence

Daily Mail04-06-2025
Nova FM has announced it will be hosting its annual Singles Party.
The radio network shared the news on Thursday alongside a promo image featuring hosts Ryan Fitzgerald, Michael Wipfli and Kate Ritchie, who has been absent from the show for several months.
And now, confused listeners are demanding to know whether Ritchie will be returning to the radio program after appearing on the event poster.
'Where is Kate? She has been absent all year and nothing has been mentioned about her coming back, is she returning or not?' one person asked.
'Hope Kate is going well, will she be returning this year?' another concerned fan said.
From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop.
'When is Kate back?' a third questioned.
There has been ongoing speculation over when she'll return to co-host Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie on Nova 96.9 following her sudden departure in January after a troubling public incident in a Sydney park.
Kate's Instagram bio doesn't mention Nova anymore; instead she is simply 'actor, radio and broadcaster' which may point to her making a quiet exit.
Despite her absence, the breakfast radio show has continued to thrive with just Fitzy and Wippa at the helm, recently recording its highest ratings in almost a year.
The duo pulled in an impressive 8.7 per cent share of the audience in the latest survey, putting pressure on Nova bosses to make a decision about the show's future direction.
Kate has been receiving ongoing support at a rehabilitation facility since the incident, which saw her photographed in tears and appearing visibly distressed shortly after picking Mae up from school.
At the time, Kate released a heartfelt statement on social media explaining her decision to step away from the show.
'I struggle with mental health issues at times, which are deeply personal. This has proven to be a bigger challenge than I imagined,' she began.
'So I have decided to take a break from the show and the team who I love to focus on my health. I want to thank all of those who are helping me through this very difficult time. I love you. Thank you Nova for being there when I need you.'
Kate went on to address the images taken on January 29.
'This is also a problem many others are struggling with. They know what it's like. The images of me taken last week show that I wasn't okay on that day,' she continued.
She went on to thank her friends and fans for their support.
'Thank you to my wonderful family, all the Nova listeners, and many others who are sending their love and support. I appreciate it more than you can imagine,' she wrote.
Footage obtained by Daily Mail Australia then showed the former actress crying while on the phone, wiping tears from her eyes and burying her head in her hands.
A witness, who saw Ritchie get out of the car at the park, said the star 'looked really distressed'.
'She walked around a bit in the park while talking and then suddenly she sat down and started rocking her whole body back and forth and crying,' they said.
'It was really confronting – she looked so upset. When she turned around her eyes were all red and puffy and she looked absolutely devastated.'
The actress was then seen struggling to get up from the grass.
'After the call ended, she tried to stand up but lost her balance and sort of fell over again,' the bystander added.
'When she finally managed to get to her feet, she started making another phone call... she looked much happier during that call.'
Kate then walked around to the back of the vehicle – holding an arm out on the car as she got into the driver's seat and drove home.
At the time, Nova's co-hosts had promised their audience that the absent Kate would return after one day off, but that timeline was soon dropped.
This isn't the first time Kate has stepped away from her duties at Nova.
In 2022, she took an extended hiatus from her drive-time program with Tim Blackwell and Joel Creasey, citing exhaustion and burnout. She never returned to that show either.
Nova has remained tight-lipped on any potential comeback date and did not respond to questions about whether the embattled star had continued to receive pay during her absence.

Revealed: Why a premiership-winning footy coach was left 'absolutely filthy' with US streaming giant Netflix ahead of crunch AFL fixture

AFL boss Chris Fagan was reportedly left 'absolutely filthy' after it emerged that he was not informed that Netflix camera crews would be entering his side's inner sanctum. It was announced earlier this year that the US streaming giant was set to produce a brand new series, akin to it's highly successful Drive to Survive Formula One series, focusing on all things going on in the AFL. The news that the production company would be heading Down Under had excited many, with Brisbane, Fremantle, GWS and Gold Coast all set to feature alongside the Western Bulldogs in the series. It is understood, according to reports in July from SEN, that the docuseries was set to follow individual players, including the likes of Marcus Bontempelli and Toby Greene. But when production teams turned up at The Gabba, premiership-winning coach Fagan was not happy. In fact, according to Channel Seven journalist Caroline Wilson, the legendary footy boss had been left fuming and had he known about Netflix's proposed plans to film his side before hand he would not have agreed to the project. reportedly left 'absolutely filthy' 'AFL staff themselves have now gone on the road with this production crew because they have ruffled feathers,' Wilson said during Monday night's episode of The Agenda Setters. 'But the really strong scenes took place at the Gabba. They (Netflix) turned up the week of the Q-Clash, Chris Fagan was absolutely filthy, said he had no idea that they were coming on board, and had he known, he wouldn't have agreed to it. 'I think he [Fagan] agreed [to host the production company] after a conversation with (footy boss) Danny Daly. Perhaps he hadn't really been paying attention, but I don't think he was thrilled. 'But they've left the Gabba now, they won't be back. 'They're at the Gold Coast — I think there was some dissatisfaction too at the Gold Coast, at how many players they wanted to get involved. Certainly Touk Miller's involved there.' The AFL have previously engaged film agencies to produce television content on the league. The 'Making Their Mark' docu-series, launched in 2021 on Amazon, was perhaps the most notable of those projects. It featured footy greats, Nic Naitanui and Eddie Betts and went behind the scenes at the Crows and Giants. Channel Seven reporter Wilson (pictured) claimed that staff from the AFL have been monitoring the production company after they 'ruffled a few feathers' It comes as series like Drive to Survive, Full Swing and Six Nations: Full Contact have taken huge steps in helping sports like Formula One, Golf and rugby union grow their audiences globally. Fagan, meanwhile, admitted he was disappointed with his forward line following Brisbane's two-point defeat by Sydney on Saturday. Despite a late fightback, the Lions were eclipsed by the Swans at the beginning of the second-half. 'Sixty-five entries. It's a lot, isn't it? It's a lot to lose,' the footy coach said, reflecting on how his side were wayward with their goal kicking. 'We did a lot of things right, but we just didn't win the ground ball in our front half, and they were able to bounce off it and that's the reason they won the game.'

Lindsay Lohan visits a zoo Down Under during a break from Freakier Friday promo

Lindsay Lohan was spotted at Taronga Zoo with her husband, Bader Shammas, and their two-year-old son Luai, last Wednesday. She he has been seen promoting her new movie Freakier Friday in Australia last week. The 39-year-old accessorized with black sneakers, a pearl phone charm and a brown leather Hermes bag. SCROLL DOWN FOR VIDEO Group: Lindsay Lohan visited Taronga Zoo in Sydney with her husband Bader Shammas and their son Luai The family of three were joined by a nanny, who could be seen pushing Luai's stroller through the zoo. Lindsay could be seen carrying a baby bottle as she checked out our local fauna with her brood in tow. The outing came after Lindsay and her co-star Jamie Lee Curtis attended the Australian premiere of Freakier Friday at Westfield Bondi Junction the day before. Disney's Freakier Friday has achieved a major box office milestone, earning back its production budget in just three days, despite opening at No. 2 in the United States. The sequel, which reunites Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan more than 20 years after Freaky Friday (2003), debuted to an estimated $45million in the U.S. over the August 8 weekend. The film was narrowly edged out of the top spot by Zach Cregger's horror thriller Weapons, which took in $64million in North America. Strong international turnout boosted Freakier Friday's global total to $69million, including $24million from overseas markets, according to Deadline. Good times: Lindsay looked in great spirits at the zoo Hair: She went for a low ponytail tied up with a scrunchie That matches the film's reported $69million production budget, making it the 41st release of 2025 to cross that mark worldwide. While recouping costs so quickly is a positive sign, industry analysts note that films typically need to gross around 2.5 times their production budgets to turn a profit, putting the sequel's estimated break-even point at roughly $161 million. In 2003, Jamie Lee and Lindsay starred in the smash hit comedy, Freaky Friday, which saw the two characters switch bodies. Fans had long hoped for a sequel to the iconic comedy but had to wait two decades after the original first hit theatres. Stars: The outing came after Lindsay and her co-star Jamie Lee Curtis attended the Australian premiere of Freakier Friday at Westfield Bondi Junction the day before Lindsay was just 15 years old when she first portrayed Anna Coleman in Freaky Friday alongside Jamie Lee, who played her on-screen mother Tess Coleman. It follows the bickering mother and daughter after a Chinese restaurant fortune cookie mishap causes them to switch bodies, forcing them to live the other's life. Despite barely having been able to see eye-to-eye, the magical switch eventually allows them to see things from the other's point of view. The sequel sees the iconic pairing switch places once again, though this time there is quadruple chaos in store. Anna (Lindsay) is preparing to tie the knot with Eric Davies (Manny Jacinto), but things are proving difficult as her teenage daughter Harper (Julia Butters) despises Eric's teenager Lily (Sophia Hammons). Harper highlights her disgust as she's heard reciting mock wedding vows, in which she brands her soon-to-be step-sister 'a little demon thing with an obnoxious accent.' A flash forward to Anna's bachelorette party sees her and mother Tess Coleman sit down with a fortune teller (Vanessa Bayer), who warns them they may learn another lesson by 'walking in each other's paths'. Anna and Tess then find themselves caught up in yet another 'freaky' body swap incident - only this time, it's not just between the two of them. The next morning, Anna discovers she's swapped bodies with daughter Harper, while Tess, aka 'Grandma', is now in the body of Anna's step-daughter Lily. The foursome try to navigate their new roles with just days to go until the wedding.

Sam Thompson is forced to break news of his split from Zara McDermott to Jamie Lee Curtis after Hollywood star tipped the pair for marriage

Sam Thompson was forced to break the news of his split from Zara McDemrott to Jamie Lee Curtis on Monday, after the Hollywood actress previously tipped the pair for marriage. The reality star, 33, was reunited with the actress, 66, on his Hits Radio Breakfast Show and they reminisced over her previous appearance during which time he was still dating Zara. Sam revealed that Jamie had been his first ever guest on his first ever show on the station and was so nervous that he lied, and that untruth led to her calling for him to get down on one knee. He sheepishly told her: 'Last time we met, I may have lied to you, it was my first day and I said about pre-drinks and you went "I'm sober"' - e arlier this year Jamie celebrated 26-years of sobriety. Sam recalled panicking in the moment and was so worried about upsetting his guest that he lied and confessed to also being teetotal. 'You lied to me' Jamie said with a smile on her face, to which the host replied: 'I fully lied to your face'. Sam said he remembered Jamie asking him he had decided to give up alcohol, which saw him forced to 'make up a story on the spot'. 'I said: "My girlfriend doesn't drink and I'm trying to just be more like her and not drink" and you were like "That is the nicest thing anyone's ever said" you were like "get her a ring!". Jamie chimed in: 'I did, I said: "Put a ring on it" and?' she asked expectantly, to which a giggling same replied: 'Oh no, we broke up!'. 'Because you were drunk!' the Hollywood actress quipped as the studio collapsed into giggles. Sam and Zara, 28, ended their five year relationship in December, following a holiday season spent separately. A source close to the couple told Daily Mail at the time: 'Sam and Zara have ended their relationship. It's been an incredibly difficult decision for them to part ways, they still care and have a lot of love for each other. 'But after a tough year of working hard at their romance, they have split and will be focusing on their individual careers going forward into 2025. 'There has been no scandal or fallout between them, it's just the result of a difficult year, where they both had to spend a lot of time focused on their own projects.' She has now moved on with One Direction's Louis Tomlinson, 33, and last week the couple sent fans wild after confirmed they were in love The couple were last seen together celebrating Zara's birthday in December, where Sam dedicated an Instagram post to his girlfriend, calling her his 'soulmate' and 'best friend.' She has now moved on with One Direction's Louis Tomlinson, 33, and last week the couple sent fans wild after confirmed they were in love. The couple, who began dating in secret as they worked out their romance, have now gone public as they locked lips on her social media grid. The Strictly stunner and pop singer are reportedly 'the real deal' after declaring their love for each other for the world to see underneath the post. Louis commented, 'I love you' under the picture of them kissing, which Zara shared with her followers on Monday evening. The post sent fans crazy as they rushed to the comments to gush over their relationship. They penned: 'Crying screaming, throwing up cuties omg... I'm freaking out OMGGG SO PROUD OF YOU... Such a beautiful couple. I'm so happy for you. 'THAT'S SO CUTE... IM GONNA CRY THIS IS THE CUTESY THING EVER... AMAZING COUPLE MAN.' It was first revealed five months ago that Zara and Louis were dating after they struck up a romance at the start of the year, but now friends say it's serious. It comes after Sam admitted he'd had an 'uncomfortable' start to the year after he and Zara split up, in a candid interview on pal Pete Wicks' Man Made podcast An insider told the Sun: 'Louis and Zara dated out of the public eye for a while before going public so they could make sure this was the real deal. 'They've both never been happier and are a lovely couple. Louis and Zara are both very career driven and support each other's endeavours.' Meanwhile, Sam has admitted he'd had an 'uncomfortable' start to the year after he and Zara split up. The TV personality insisted that sometimes a difficult period can 'shock' someone into making a much-needed change in their life. Appearing on his close friend Pete Wicks ' Man Made podcast, he candidly reflected on the past year following the split and how he has evolved. He said: 'It's such a weird one because I still look to people for help all the time. 'I look to you, if I'm ever in a problem, I'll call you, I'll call Marvin, I'll call Tony, I'll call Ryan, my brother-in -law, I'll call Louise. 'I have a lot of people who I depend on and as much as I love that, I still feel inside like I'm not quite at the place where I can take care of myself.' Pete asked: 'So do you think then that asking people for help or being dependent on other people makes you less of a man?'
