Uttarakhand CM Dhami releases new book 'Swasthya Ke Prahari' authored by Lalit Shaurya
Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], June 29 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami released the new book 'Swasthya Ke Prahari' by children's literature writer Lalit Shaurya.
The Chief Minister stated on Saturday that this book aims to create awareness about health among the general public. He added that various diseases have been presented in an interesting way through stories in this book.
Earlier, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the All India Oil Sector Meet programme organised at ONGC Community Centre, Dehradun, on Saturday. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government is working to promote green energy with coordination in the economy, ecology and technology.
'Clean and green energy is being promoted in the state through the Chief Minister Solar Self-Employment Scheme. Hydroelectric projects like Tehri, Koteshwar, Pipalkoti, Lakhwar, and Vishnugad in the state are playing an important role in establishing Uttarakhand as an energy hub. There are many possibilities in the field of geothermal in the state, on which the state government is continuously working,' the Chief Minister said, according to a press release.
The Chief Minister said that natural resources play an important role in taking any nation forward. Fuel, along with the development of the nation, also fulfils our daily needs. ONGC is playing an important role in India's energy security by contributing 70 per cent of the total production of crude oil and 84 per cent of the natural gas production in the country.
The Chief Minister said that PM Modi has put the resolution of a self-reliant and developed India in front of people. The country is moving forward with the resolution of becoming a developed India by 2047.
He said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, petroleum reserves have been established for the energy security of the country.
'Solar energy is also being promoted along with green hydrogen. Work is being done on many alternative sources of energy. All these efforts have made India capable in the field of energy,' he said.
The Chief Minister said that many works have been done in the field of oil and natural gas.
Gas pipelines are being expanded under One Nation, One Grid. The gas distribution system has been expanded and made more convenient than before. Bio-CNG plants are being set up. Schemes like the Ujjwala have brought a revolution in society. Many policies have also been implemented for oil production. India has also increased investments in the oil and natural gas sector abroad, the Chief Minister said.
He said ONGC has done many such works in Uttarakhand, which are benefiting the state. (ANI)

Delhi's roads set for a makeover: 415 km to be rebuilt under Rs 950-crore scheme
By Tanya Chugh New Delhi [India], June 29 (ANI): In a major infrastructure push, the Delhi government has drawn up a Rs 950-crore plan to reconstruct 415 kilometres of worn-out roads across the city. A proposal in this regard has been sent to the Central government under the Central Road Fund (CRF), with an aim to provide much-needed facelift to key stretches, including the Outer Ring Road, Mathura Road, Najafgarh Road, and Vikas Marg. So far, 150 km of roads have already been repaired, while work is ongoing on another 100 km. A top government source said the proposal has been sent to the Centre, seeking financial assistance to expedite the project. The target for the upcoming financial year is to repair 500 km of roads in the state. Along with the repair of roads, footpaths, and drains, reconstruction will also be undertaken. Construction work will be carried out through e-tendering to complete the project by 2026. The Delhi government hopes to receive financial assistance from the Centre this time, which would help expedite the work. The PWD department has also launched a campaign to fill potholes on the roads. On June 23, the government launched this campaign, during which 3,400 potholes were filled in a single day. 'Our commitment is to give good roads to the people of Delhi. Construction of roads is in progress. We have constructed 150 km of roads and have a target of 500 km for this year. The previous government constructed poor-quality roads. We will recarpet all the roads,' PWD Minister Parvesh Verma told ANI. Citizens can also report road-related complaints through the PWD's website or mobile app. (ANI)

Odisha: Pinak Mishra appointed Puri SP, Chanchal Rana new Collector after Rath Yatra stampede
Puri (Odisha) [India], June 29 (ANI): Following the tragic stampede during the Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri that claimed three lives and left several injured, the Odisha government has transferred the Puri Superintendent of Police and Collector. Pinak Mishra has been appointed as the new SP of Puri, while Chanchal Rana replaces Siddharth Shankar Swain as the new Collector. These changes come in the wake of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi's directive for a detailed administrative inquiry to be conducted under the supervision of the Development Commissioner. The CM also ordered strict action against those found negligent in their duties. Speaking after his appointment, SP Pinak Mishra said, 'This is the order of 'Mahaprabhu' that I have appointed as the SP of Puri once again. We will ensure that the 'Rath Yatra' concludes peacefully. I urge the devotees to coordinate with the administration and follow the guidelines issued by the administration.' Newly appointed Collector Chanchal Rana also spoke to ANI, saying, 'As per the will of Mahaprabhu and the instructions of the state government, I have taken charge as Puri Collector today. Our main priority is to ensure that devotees from across the world have a pleasant and joyful experience during the Rath Yatra. The police and the administration have taken all the steps. We also urge devotees to avoid overcrowded areas.' Earlier in the day, Odisha Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Vishnu Pati and Commandant Ajay Padhi were suspended for dereliction of duty related to the stampede incident. The stampede occurred during the Rath Yatra in Puri, as overcrowding led to the unfortunate deaths of three devotees and injuries to several others. Expressing deep sorrow, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced a financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh for the next of kin of each deceased devotee. The Chief Minister ordered a detailed administrative inquiry under the supervision of the Development Commissioner and instructed the transfer of the District Collector. The Chief Minister reaffirmed that Rath Yatra is a source of pride for Odisha and assured strict action against those responsible for the mishap. He emphasised that such incidents must not recur, ensuring the safety and sanctity of the festival in the future. Earlier today, CM Mohan Charan Majhi apologised and sought forgiveness from devotees, following a stampede during the Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri, in which at least three people died and several were injured. He further directed the authorities to initiate action against those responsible. Posting on social media platform X, Chief Minister Majhi said, 'Due to the intense eagerness among devotees to have a glimpse of Mahaprabhu at Sharadhabali, an unfortunate incident occurred because of the resulting jostling and chaos. Personally, my government and I seek forgiveness from all devotees of Lord Jagannath. We express our condolences to the families of those devotees whose lives were lost at Sharadhabali and pray to Mahaprabhu Jagannath to grant them the strength to bear this profound sorrow.' He added that an investigation will be conducted into the security lapse and action will be taken against those responsible. 'This negligence is unforgivable. An immediate investigation into the security lapse will be conducted, and I have directed that necessary steps be taken to initiate exemplary action against those responsible,' Majhi's X post read. The stampede claimed the lives of three people and injured several early this morning near the Gundicha Temple in Puri. During the annual Rath Yatra, a massive crowd of devotees pull the holy chariots of the three deities - Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Shubhadra, which are taken to the Gundicha Temple, a short distance from the Jagannath Temple. The three deities spend a week at the Gundicha Temple before returning to Jagannath Temple. This year, the Rath Yatra commenced on Friday. (ANI)

Congress cunningly added 'Secularism', 'Socialism' to Preamble: Karnataka LoP R Ashoka
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 29 (ANI): Supporting the recent comments by senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Dattatreya Hosabale that 'secularism' and 'socialism' were not part of the Preamble to the Constitution drafted by Dr BR Ambedkar, the Leader of Opposition in Karnataka Assembly, R Ashoka, on Sunday accused the Congress of 'cunningly' adding these terms. Addressing a press conference, Ashoka also targeted Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi. 'Rahul Gandhi demands a caste census on one hand and talks about secularism on the other. I identify myself as a Vokkaliga. Everyone identifies with their caste. If so, the term 'secular' has no meaning. Let Congress leaders show where the words 'secular' and 'socialist' are in the Constitution written by Dr. BR Ambedkar,' he said. 'Jawaharlal Nehru brought the first amendment. He made a total of 17 amendments. Later, Indira Gandhi made 26 amendments. They amended the original intentions of Baba Saheb. Overall, Congress made 68 amendments. Congress cunningly added these two words (secularism and socialism). This needs to be discussed,' he said. He also took aim at the Congress government in Karnataka, claiming that the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is financially bankrupt. 'Salaries for clinic staff haven't been paid, and several projects are stalled. MLAs like BR Patil have raised concerns. Now, the government will impose more taxes on people,' Ashoka alleged. Accusing the state government of corruption, he added, 'If people want to build houses, they must pay bribes to the government.' Ashoka also claimed that a change in the Chief Minister's post was 'imminent,' referring to Deputy CM DK Shivakumar's 'unfavourable horoscope.' 'Shivakumar lacks natural luck and may try to seize power by force,' he said. He also criticised the Home Department, comparing its new social media regulations to Indira Gandhi's Emergency-era press censorship. 'Journalists criticising the government may be jailed,' he warned. Ashok, who missed a BJP committee meeting led by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, said the party is working to resolve district-level issues. 'BJP has effectively opposed the government, but unity is needed for the party to shine,' he said. (ANI)
