Anwar pays tribute to IKIM chairman Muhammad Nur, calls him a close friend
In a Facebook post, Anwar paid tribute and expressed his grief and deep sadness over the passing of Muhammad Nur this morning.
He said Muhammad Nur, a former president of the Malaysian Islamic Youth Movement (ABIM), was also active in PKR.
'I am deeply affected and saddened by his passing. We had a chance to meet only a few days ago.
'I pray that his soul is granted forgiveness by Almighty Allah and is placed among the martyrs. May his family be granted strength, patience, and resilience, Insya-Allah,' he posted.
Muhammad Nur breathed his last at 11.27 am today at Sultan Idris Shah Hospital in Serdang.
His funeral prayer will be held after Asar at Masjid Al-Umm in Bangi, followed by burial at the Sungai Tangkas Muslim cemetery.
Muhammad Nur was appointed IKIM chairman on May 8, 2023. He previously served as chairman of the Board of Directors at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) from Oct 1, 2018, to Sept 30, 2021.
On Jan 18 this year, he was honoured with the highest award by the Muslim Converts' Association of Singapore (MCAS) in recognition of his leadership and transformational contributions to the organisation. — Bernama

'More than just cash assistance, STR empowers recipients to achieve financial independence, helping us realise the equality envisioned in the Madani Economy,' he said. Anwar said that the Phase Three payments will be made to existing and newly registered recipients in the STR database, either through direct bank account credits or cash disbursements via Bank Simpanan Nasional, in stages according to their eligibility categories. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance stated that applicants whose names are not found in the STR database must submit an application to allow verification of their eligibility for the aid. Fahmi working to secure temporary housing for DBKL PPR fire victims
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 12 — Lembah Pantai MP Datuk Fahmi Fadzil is working to secure temporary housing for victims of a recent fire at the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) owned People's Housing Project. The Communications Minister said the matter was discussed with Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa and Kuala Lumpur mayor, Datuk Seri Dr Maimunah Mohd Sharif last Saturday. 'There are 14 families currently at the relief centre. Several other families have chosen to stay with their relatives. We are waiting for the relocation… at least there are more comfortable places for them. 'I have yet to receive the latest information but for families with schoolgoing children, we have worked with the Social Welfare Department, the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council to ensure they have equipment, uniforms and such,' he told the media after attending the Daughter of Penang, Daughter of Palestine programme at The Chow Kit Hotel here yesterday which was also attended by Human Resources Minister Steven Sim.
