In ‘Fallout' Season 2's First Trailer, All Roads Lead to New Vegas

Gizmodo2 hours ago
Ever since season one of Fallout surprised the world with its spin on the iconic RPG series, fans have been eager to see just what Lucy and her Ghoulish ally will get up to after we ended on the cliffhanger tease of one of the most beloved locales in modern Fallout history in the city of New Vegas. Now, we've finally got a glimpse of what to expect inside its walls.
As part of today's opening ceremony for Gamescom 2025 in Cologne, Germany, Amazon officially debuted the first teaser trailer for Fallout's sophomore season. It picks up with Lucy (Ella Purnell) and the Ghoul (Walton Goggins) as they continue the search for the former's father, Hank (Kyle McLachlan), after he revealed the real reason behind Lucy's mother's absence and the secret behind the Vaults.
Season two will see the duo soak in the bright lights and deadly politics of New Vegas, a dangerous but self-sufficient pocket of civilization still largely left standing in the ashes of its pre-war glitz and glamor.
Aside from Purnell, Goggins, and McLachlan, season two will see Aaron Moten's return as Maximus—the wayward Brotherhood of Steel soldier who was tragically separated from Lucy after their close bond in season one—alongside Moisés Arias as Norm, Lucy's brother who managed to uncover the secret of the Vaults himself at the climax of last season.
Frances Turner will also return as Barb, the Ghoul's ex-wife in his past life as Cooper Howard, and one of the key masterminds behind Vault-Tec's plan for the war.
Fallout returns to Prime Video this December.

Gamescom 2025: Black Myth Wukong Sequel, Resident Evil 9 and Other Reveals

Europe's big gaming event of the year, Gamescom 2025, has officially kicked off with Opening Night Live, an extensive trailer showcase giving early looks at the biggest games coming later this year and into 2026. Last year's Gamescom 2024 Opening Night Live had a ton of reveals, including Mafia: The Old Country and trailers for then-upcoming games like Marvel Rivals, Dune Awakening and more. This year's showcase had some big reveals and some tantalizingly short teases -- like around 20 seconds of Silksong, the long-awaited sequel/spinoff to indie darling Hollow Night. Below are the biggest trailers for the two-hour Opening Night Live event. Fallout: Season Two Amazon's Fallout show was a delightful surprise faithfully adapting a beloved gaming franchise -- and just being pretty darn good. Gamescom 2025 features the debut trailer of the second season, which arrives December 17, as well as an on-stage chat with the showrunners and stars Ella Purnell and Aaron Moten. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 We got our first long look at the story, which mixes cerebral mindscapes with your typical fast-paced Call of Duty shooting combat. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice anime Yes, FromSoftware's cult favorite samurai game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is getting an anime adaptation called Sekiro: No Defeat. The trailer shows the game's protagonist, swordsman Wolf, both before and after he receives his prosthetic arm -- suggesting we could see things both before and during the course of the original game. The anime will debut on Crunchyroll at an unstated date. Resident Evil: Requiem We got a brief look at Resident Evil: Requiem (aka Resident Evil 9) at Summer Game Fest, but this trailer shows a peek at player character Grace Ashcroft and her mother -- before things get bad. Details are scarce about the story, though Capcom has insisted that the game will lean way more into horror and terror than other recent entries in the series, like the run-and-gun Resident Evil 8. Black Myth Wukong sequel revealed Chinese developer Game Science wowed the games world with Black Myth Wukong, and Gamescom 2025 featured the reveal trailer of the next game in its series, Black Myth: Zhong Kui, which be another action adventure game based on Chinese myth -- in this case, the ghost-catching god Zhong Kui. Monster Hunter Wilds x Final Fantasy XIV Well this is fun: a crossover between two of the biggest games, Monster Hunter Wilds released earlier this year and perennial MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV. Both games will get content from each other -- here's the trailer for the Monster Hunter Wilds portion coming late October and here's from the Final Fantasy XIV portion coming late September. Silent Hill f The next big Silent Hill game got another trailer and plenty of teases for the lore of the title, which is set in the 1960s in Japan. Onimusha: Way of the Sword It's been nearly 20 years since the last new Onimusha game came out, and now we've got another look at Onimusha: Way of the Sword -- which looks to preserve the originals' sword-and-parry combat with other magical weapons. Demons, bosses and brutal executions abound in the Onimusha trailer. Cronos: The New Dawn Bloober Team's follow-up to last year's Silent Hill 2 remake, we got another trailer look at Cronos: The New Dawn. This peek showed some of the gameplay for its third-person shooter combat as well as a ton of the hideous monsters you'll encounter in the game, which launches soon on September 5. Outer Worlds 2 Obsidian's sequel to the space action RPG Outer Worlds got a trailer showcasing the companions you'll meet and fight alongside in the game. "And no, you can't sleep with them," the trailer voiceover cheekily pointed out. Ninja Gaiden 4 The next trailer for Ninja Gaiden 4 included looks at boss fights, including giant robots and futuristic samurai with stylized armor. While demons and ninja fights are still in the game, the futuristic setting looks more prominent than we'd previously seen. Ghost of Yotei Another trailer from the upcoming sequel to Ghost of Tsushima has dropped, showing more gameplay, from traversal across beautiful lands to swordfights in the snow. The beautiful tale of revenge is coming October 2 -- and the DLC, Ghost of Yotei Legends, is coming in 2026. World of Warcraft: Midnight The next big expansion to the long-running MMORPG World of Warcraft, titled Midnight, is coming soon -- and Blizzard Entertainment has, in its grand tradition, unveiled a riveting story trailer to set the stage for the next chapter in Azeroth's story.

‘Ghostrunner' Devs Reveal First-Person Soulslike ‘Valor Mortis' Set During The Napoleonic Wars

Valor Mortis translates from the Latin into 'courage in the face of death.' It's a fitting title for a soulslike, the genre spawned by FromSoftware's Dark Souls games into its very own breed of wildly varied action-RPGs. The upcoming first-person fantasy shooter was revealed at Opening Night Live Tuesday as Gamescom kicks off in Cologne, Germany. It looks excellent, blending elements of the Dark Souls games with first-person gameplay reminiscent of Arkane's Dishonored series, all set against a fantastical and grimdark backdrop of the Napoleonic Wars. Here's the trailer: In Valor Mortis, you take on the role of William, a former soldier of the Grande Armée brought back from the dead. You discover that your former comrades have been transformed into hideous abominations by some mysterious force – the same force that grants you a suite of magical powers to go along with your blade and pistol and musket. A terrible, magical plague and an equally brutal war have left this alternative Europe in tatters. Fans of Dark Souls can join fans of Ghostrunner in their excitement over Valor Mortis, as One More Level worked on those games prior to this release. The Ghostrunner games blend cyberpunk ninja action with fast-paced parkour and insta-death for a super fun and incredibly challenging and fast-paced experience. This game looks much slower and more methodical, but also a lot more like my kind of game.
