On January 27 this year, India and China in principle agreed to resume direct air services between the two countries as part of certain people-centric steps to "stabilise and rebuild" the bilateral ties.
Diplomatic and economic ties between India and China deteriorated following the Galwan Valley clash in 2020 between their armed forces. Relations remained tense for nearly four years, until October 2024, when both countries reached an agreement on patrolling protocols along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
India and China had initially agreed in January to resume direct flights. However, the plan stalled after relations cooled again amid India's limited conflict with Pakistan.
The airline stands ready to resume these services as soon as bilateral arrangements between the two countries allow.
The two sides revisited the proposal in June, announcing intentions to restart air connectivity, though no concrete progress was made at the time.

IndiGo cancels Delhi-Darbhanga flight after delay
New Delhi, Aug 14 (PTI) IndiGo on Thursday cancelled its flight from the national capital to Darbhanga, Bihar, after a delay, prompting a few passengers to protest at the tarmac of the Delhi airport, sources said. 'The departure of IndiGo flight 6E 360 from Delhi to Darbhanga was delayed due to heavy rains, waterlogging, and traffic congestion in Delhi. 'Later, the flight had to be cancelled owing to watch hour restrictions at Darbhanga airport that could not be extended," the airline said in a statement. Details of the number of passengers on board the flight could not be immediately ascertained. The sources said a few passengers protested at the tarmac. 'The customers at the tarmac were guided to the terminal with the support of security agencies at the airport and our team ensured their comfort," IndiGo said. The airline also said that all possible arrangements were made for the affected customers, including refreshments, alternate scheduling option, or cancellations with full refund. FM radio stations awarded for 43 cities in Phase-III auction

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) announced the results of the e-auction for the third batch of Private FM Radio Phase III channels, with bids running into several crores in key markets. The lowest bid in the auction was of Rs 29 lakh for the 91.1 MHz frequency in Silchar in Assam. According to the official notification issued on Wednesday, prominent media groups including DB Corp Ltd, Sapphire Media Ltd, Malar Publications Ltd, The Mathrubhumi Printing & Publishing Co. Ltd. and The Malayala Manorama Co. Pvt. Ltd. emerged as major winners, bagging prime frequencies across multiple cities. HT Media Ltd secured the 93.7 MHz frequency in Moradabad for Rs 2.8 crore. Malar Publications Ltd. and Kal Radio Ltd. won the 91.1 MHz and 91.9 MHz frequencies respectively for Rs 1.93 crore each in Nagercoil and Kanyakumari. DB Corp Ltd. bagged multiple frequencies, including Rs 1.49 crore each for Bhuj and Gandhidham, and Rs 1.28 crore for Daman. Chouhan asks states to check urea diversion, curb fake fertiliser sale amid kharif demand surge

The minister identified two main reasons for increased urea demand: higher sowing of rice, maize and other crops due to good rainfall, and possible misuse of urea for non-agricultural purposes. 'If the demand is genuinely for farming needs, urea will certainly be supplied and the ministry is working promptly on this. However, if there is any suspicion of misuse, it will be seen as a serious matter that will invite strict action,' Chouhan warned. On bio-stimulants, he said around 30,000 such products were being sold earlier, many without proper certification. 'So far, only 600 bio-stimulants have been certified. He directed officials to ensure that only these certified products reach farmers,' the statement said. The meeting also reviewed preparations for the National Mission on Natural Farming, which will be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 23.
