Peterborough United's EFL Trophy Wembley win boosts pride in city
Pep Cipriano, chief operating officer of the city's Business Improvement District, Peterborough Positive, said he had " a spring in his feet" and the win had made "people feel proud".
He added: "It is about the vibe: we are from Peterborough, we are an important team, we just won a major game."It's historic as well - two years in a row. It makes people feel proud of the city."
Paul Searle, who watched the game at home, said: "It brings everyone together."It is good for the community and good for businesses."Peterborough fan Nilesh Patel, who was at the game, said: "It's brilliant for the fans, the club and hopefully the whole city."
Michaela Loffler said: "When Posh plays in town it is rammed solid. "Everyone is singing and cheering and when they win it's goes mental."
Peterborough United's boss, Darren Ferguson, became the first manager to win the competition three times.It was also Posh's fifth straight win at Wembley.The win draws them level with Bristol City as the most successful side in the competition's history.

Ferguson 'embarrassed' by Posh's first-half display

It took us until we were 2-0 down to wake up - we're not that good."We're a little bit short in certain areas and me and chairman have got a big job about what we do next." Ferguson is in his fourth spell as Posh boss and led the team to four promotions in the past, as well as winning the EFL Trophy at Wembley in the past two seasons. He last week decided that Chris Conn-Clarke and Ryan de Havilland should train with the under-21 squad, the pair having made a combined 65 first-team appearances last there are four or five players for whom Posh are willing to listen to offers."I've got decisions to make on players. I've given some the benefit of the doubt, especially those that have only had a season [with us]. I needed to see how pre-season went," he said."When I don't see improvement, then I've got to make decisions - but they're not the only two that are available. "There are things you need to do to play for my teams and that was really missing in the first half. Does it really take a b********g from me and to be 2-0 down to wake up? "We're not that good. I have just asked them why that happened and I had no answer. 'It was nothing to do with formations. Our width comes from full backs and we don't get crosses into the box. "If I felt it was the formation I would say so. That was not to blame tonight. "I protect my team a lot, but I am not taking that one. That performance is on them. I don't say that often, but they have to take responsibility. I find it hard to defend that first half." Peterborough have lost all three of their opening games across all competitions and already sit all the way down in 21st in the table. Posh travel to the Brick Community Stadium to face Wigan Athletic in a league fixture on Saturday August 16. He added: "What we are is a really good team against mannequins but when teams tackle us, we are really struggling. "In that first half we so far away from what we expect, but you can't have a first half like that and expect to get through a cup game. "That is so far show from the desire, running, tackling etc we expect from a Peterborough United player. 'I try to stay positive but I find it hard to defend that first half. I'm embarrassed by the first half. There was no desire. It's a really disappointing night.'

Early goal helps Accrington to victory against Peteborough
The League Two side, who played a preliminary round in the competition last week, struck twice in the first half. Posh, who got one back late on, have lost all three games of their season so far. Stanley made a dream start, taking the lead after 37 seconds. A long throw by Freddie Sass into a crowd of bodies was pushed out by goalkeeper Vicente Reyes but only to Alex Henderson who blasted the ball low into the net. The Reds grabbed a second in the 25th minute when Henderson's cross was tapped over the line at the near post by Kelsey Mooney. Posh dominated possession but struggled to test home keeper Ollie Wright with their best chance of the first half – a Harley Mills free-kick which was narrowly wide. After the restart, Stanley's Farrend Rawson could have made it three but sent his header straight at Reyes. In the 54th minute, Gustav Lindgren forced the first save out of Wright, with the keeper diving low to keep out his effort. Posh got one back after 79 minutes when Archie Collins headed home a Cain Hayes cross, but it was Stanley who threatened in eight minutes of added time, with Josh Woods almost adding a third.
