Brown was asked in the build-up about his experiences of flag day.
He couldn't resist a dig at Boyd in his answer: "It's amazing because you know all that hard work from the season before has to start all over again," said the current Ayr United boss.
"It's one of those days, it's great for the fans, it's great for everyone to come together."
"Boydy's not used to this, obviously in a long, long time," Brown then joked.
"He's delighted to be here. We've had a real good chat about how good this place is and how much it means to you, haven't we?"

With their, albeit narrow, victory on Sunday, Celtic moved two points clear of city rivals Rangers on the opening weekend of the new season.

Celtic's Champions League play-off opponents revealed
Brendan Rodgers' men will take on either Kairat Almaty or Slovan Bratislava for a place in the league phase of the 2025/26 version of European football's elite club competition. The first leg will take place on the midweek of 19/20 August, with the return tie coming a week later, on the midweek of August 26/27. Full fixture details will be revealed in due course, although it has been confirmed that Celtic will be at home for the first leg. If they lose the tie, they will drop straight into the league phase of the Europa League. Luke McCowan's goal proved crucial for the Parkhead club as they started their league campaign over the weekend with a win against St Mirren. Speaking post-match, Rodgers addressed Celtic's upcoming Champions League play-off. He said: "I'm feeling really good. Feeling good. We've had a great, really, really good pre-season. "The players are shaping up very well, working very hard. There's real spirit and solidarity here in the team. So, we will look forward to that."

Police and the Scottish Professional Football League are aware of travel issues with trains cancelled amid high winds and rain. However, as it stands, the match is set to go ahead at the scheduled time of 8pm. Sky Sports will broadcast the match live and further weather updates will be assessed as the day goes on. The authorities may intervene to postpone the match should the situation worsen but so far they are happy to proceed as planned.
