Where Drew Allar ranks among Big Ten QBs in 2025

Where Drew Allar ranks among Big Ten QBs in 2025 Josh Pate ranks Drew Allar and Big Ten QBs for 2025 The expectations are high for Penn State football in 2025, and the return of starting quarterback Drew Allar is one of the key reasons why. Allar's decision to return to the Nittany Lions for another season was Noted college football podcaster Josh Pate shared his thoughts on the state of quarterbacks in the Big Ten for the upcoming season, and Allar took the top spot on the top-10 list. Allar edged out Ohio State's Julian Sayin and Oregon's Dante Moore, each in position to take over starting jobs with their respective schools this season for the first time. In fact, on the list of the top-10 quarterbacks in the conference from Pate, Allar is the most seasoned and experienced in the bunch, and one of the rare players entering a third season as the starter with his current school. Other names on the list include star freshman Bryce Underwood with Michigan and UCLA transfer addition Nico Iamaleava, who transferred from Tennessee this offseason. Allar passed for 3,327 yards and 24 touchdowns last season to help guide Penn State to an appearance in the Big Ten championship game and make a run to the College Football Playoff semifinal. Allar completed his second season as Penn State's starting quarterback since taking over for Sean Clifford on a full-time basis in the 2023 season. Allar has passed for 49 touchdowns the past two seasons. He will have a chance to end his Penn State career among the top of the Penn State record books as he is primed to pass Matt McGloin for fifth on Penn State's all-time passing list in Week 1 (88 yards from tying McGloin's career passing yardage total) and is on track to eclipse Trace McSorely for second on the school's all-time passing yardage list by the end of the season. Allar is third in Penn State history with 53 career touchdown passes, putting him 24 behind McSorley's 77 career touchdown passes for second on the list. Clifford holds the school record with 86 career touchdown passes. Allar has been topping various quarterback rankings this offseason. ESPN's Greg McElroy ranked Allar as his third-best quarterback in the nation in his previously released rankings for the 2025 season. Ohio State Athletics launches Center for Sports Intelligence and Strategy

On the heels of the House Settlement being approved, which paves the way for direct revenue sharing with college athletes, the Ohio State Department of Athletics announced the creation of the Center for Sports Intelligence & Strategy. It's not a physical building, mind you, but according to a release from the department, it is the bringing together of a cross-functional team of athletics department administrators dedicated to driving strategic planning, optimizing data-driven decision-making, and fostering collaboration across teams. It is designed to provide Ohio State coaches with access to cutting-edge analytics, strategic insights, and tools designed to inform and enhance key areas such as recruiting, scheduling, resource allocation, and roster construction. Advertisement In other words, it's designed to beat every other college and university athletic department when it comes to the new order of revenue sharing and NIL in amateur college sports. 'The Center for Sports Intelligence & Strategy will equip our coaches with more information, context, and clarity to make even better decisions,' said Shaun Richard, Deputy Athletics Director, in a statement. 'We already have the best sports science team that equips our coaches with data on training, recovery, and performance. This unit will work in tandem with our sports scientists, as well as our business and NIL strategy teams, to give coaches additional data and actionable insights.' There's no other way to explain this than groundbreaking. In a sense, Ohio State is looking to bring together sports sciences, operations, and athletic performance together to provide a better outcome for the student-athlete and success on the field. 'The intelligence and strategy we're providing will enhance our coaches' ability to make critical decisions by giving them the most relevant and timely information available – so they can maintain a competitive edge in every aspect of their programs,' said Richard. Advertisement This type of integration and cooperation is being embraced by Ohio State coaches across multiple sports. 'As coaches at Ohio State, we know the difference between winning and losing often comes down to the smallest details,' wrestling coach Tom Ryan said in the statement. 'The Center for Sports Intelligence & Strategy will uncover subtle patterns and insights that will give our teams a competitive edge. As the world of college athletics evolves, we know the additional intelligence and strategy will help us stay at the forefront in this highly competitive environment.' Many areas will be impacted by the creation of the Center for Sports Intelligence and Strategy. It will be designed to integrate data and strategic expertise to support long-term planning and real-time decision-making. Areas of impact include recruiting and roster management, scheduling strategy, scholarship and budget modeling, and other operational aspects. 'The Center for Sports Intelligence & Strategy reinforces Ohio State's commitment to innovation, excellence, and leadership in the future of college athletics,' said Ross Bjork, Senior Vice President and Wolfe Foundation-Eugene Smith Endowed Athletics Director. 'As the competitive landscape continues to evolve, the intelligence and strategy provided will serve as an additional resource to ensure sustained success across all 36 sports.' Advertisement This is just the beginning of this initiative, and it'll be interesting to see how it all is employed and how it evolves. It'll be even more interesting to see if success on and off the field reach new heights with the collaborative approach. Texas Longhorns Top NIL Earners in 2025

Texas Longhorns Top NIL Earners in 2025 originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The University of Texas is one of the most notable colleges in the country. Its athletic program appears to be at an all-time high with several sports competing on the biggest stages in the SEC. The Texas football program in particular is one of the biggest brands in the nation. In 2024, the Longhorns football program generated $204.7 million in revenue. Advertisement Many football players are benefitting from Texas' brand recently. According to On3's NIL Valuations, three football players are making more than a million dollars and six others surpass $500,000. To no surprise, quarterback phenom Arch Manning takes the No. 1 spot. Manning currently has the highest NIL Valuation of any collegiate athlete at $6.8 million. The next closest valuation is Miami quarterback Carson Beck at $4.3 million. Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning takes the field before his team's College Football Playoff game against the Clemson Tigers at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Dec. 21, Miron-Imagn Images Texas wide receiver Ryan Wingo and pass rusher Colin Simmons have the second highest NIL Valuation on the football team at $1.5 million each. True freshman defensive lineman Justus Terry is next on the list at $825,000. Advertisement Anthony Hill ($717,000), Malik Muhammad ($707,000), Trevor Goosby ($699,000), Jack Endries ($576,000) and Tre Wisner ($553,000) round out the other group of Texas football players with NIL Valuations over $500,000. Just missing the cut is All-American safety Michael Taaffe at $468,000. Taaffe will likely surpass the $500,000 mark this season as one of Texas' primary leaders and one of the top returning safeties in the nation. With the recent success of Texas reaching the College Football Playoff semifinal the past two seasons, it seems to be money well spent.
