Yankees Blockbuster? $66 Million Trade Rumors Reach New Peak

The New York Yankees desperately need to add a third baseman at the trade deadline. The best name on the market is Arizona Diamondbacks slugger Eugenio Suárez.
The Yankees have been closely linked to the slugger over the last few weeks, but these rumors are only heating up as time goes by.
Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter joined the group of media members who have listed the Yankees as the top landing spot for Suárez.

Matthew Grimes Jr./"The D-backs exercised a $15 million club option on Suárez following a 30-homer, 3.1-WAR campaign last year, and he has been one of baseball's most productive power hitters this season, posting a 142 OPS+ with 31 home runs and a NL-leading 78 RBI in 95 games," Reuter wrote. "The Cubs, Tigers, and Yankees are all showing interest, according to Mark W. Sanchez of the New York Post.
"With Jazz Chisholm Jr. shifting back to second base after DJ LeMahieu was non-tendered, the hot corner is the most glaring hole for the Yankees. Oswald Peraza (122 PA, .243 BA, 79 OPS+) and Jorbit Vivas (55 PA, .149 BA, 41 OPS+) are currently the team's top in-house options."
The Yankees need a third baseman as badly as any team. They came up one series short of winning the World Series last year, so the front office will likely be as aggressive as ever at the trade deadline.
Suárez would be the dream addition alongside Aaron Judge in the Yankees' lineup. He's a sound defender at the hot corner while experiencing a career year at the plate. In the Bronx, he could push for 45 or 50 home runs if he's protected in the lineup by Judge.

The Mets have to seize this golden trade deadline opportunity
SAN DIEGO — If you haven't noticed, the National League is wide open. The superteam from up the road here in Southern California that was supposed to dominate and maybe set a record for wins in a season has been crippled by injuries and, though still formidable, can't be considered such a favorite for the World Series. With the Dodgers hardly appearing as a collection of immortals, the opportunity is here for the Mets. We say this as the hours pass toward Thursday's 6 p.m. trade deadline. The Mets can take the conservative route and add another power arm to the bullpen and call it a day. Such a move would leave the Mets as an improved team with an excellent chance of holding off the Phillies to win the NL East before taking their shot in the postseason.

Twins Place All-Star CF Byron Buxton On 10-Day Injured List With Rib Injury
The Minnesota Twins placed All-Star center fielder Byron Buxton on the 10-day injured list Tuesday due to a rib injury. The move, retroactive to Sunday, comes after Buxton was removed from the Twins' game against the Washington Nationals in the seventh inning on Saturday with soreness in his side. An MRI on Sunday revealed irritation in the cartilage in his rib cage. Buxton is in the midst of a career season. In 85 games, Buxton is hitting .282 with 23 home runs and 59 RBIs. He's also 17 for 17 in stolen bases. The 31-year-old has been mostly healthy this season, which has not always been the case. Since playing in 140 games in 2017, he hadn't played in more than 102 games in any season. Buxton spent 15 days on the IL in late May with a concussion and rebounded to earn his second All-Star Game nod. Reporting by The Associated Press. Want great stories delivered right to your inbox?
