GENOA, Italy (AP) — Mateo Retegui made history on Saturday. And against the team he used to play for.
Retegui set an Atalanta scoring record in a Serie A season when his 25th goal snatched a 3-2 win at Genoa.

The previous record was 24 by Filippo Inzaghi in 1996-97.
Retegui is also waiting to be crowned the league's top goal-scorer this season, as he has seven more than his nearest challenger.
He is in his first season at Atalanta after joining from Genoa in August.
It was the only match in the penultimate round with only pride to play for. The other nine matches kick off at the same time on Sunday, when Napoli could win Serie A.
Atalanta had already secured third spot in Serie A, and Genoa was comfortably mid-table.
Genoa took the lead when Andrea Pinamonti headed an Aaron Martin cross to end a three-month goal drought.

Ibrahim Sulemana leveled for Atalanta immediately after the break with a fine strike from distance.
Pinamonti doubled his tally in the 58th, squeezing a finish into the bottom near corner after some woeful Atalanta defending.
Daniel Maldini hauled Atalanta level again five minutes later after a Marten De Roon through ball was allowed by a smart Retegui dummy.
Atalanta turned the match around completely with a minute remaining when Charles De Ketelaere raced down the right before rolling across for Retegui to sweep home.
The Italy forward didn't celebrate against his former team.

Golden State Valkyries Make Roster Decision on WNBA Champion
Golden State Valkyries Make Roster Decision on WNBA Champion originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Golden State Valkyries snapped a four-game skid with a dominant 95-68 win over the Las Vegas Aces on Saturday, bolstered by Kayla Thornton's double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds, Cecilia Zandalasini's 18 points and Veronica Burton's 12 assists. Advertisement That victory improved the Valkyries to a 3-5 record in their inaugural 2025 campaign. On Sunday, the Valkyries announced the temporary suspension of forward Zandalasini's contract to allow her to represent Italy at FIBA EuroBasket 2025, which runs from June 18-29 across venues in the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy and Greece. The competition will determine continental supremacy and serve as a qualifier for the 2026 FIBA Women's World Cup, with Italy's squad relying heavily on Zandalasini's WNBA experience. Zandalasini enters her first season with Golden State after being selected from the Minnesota Lynx roster in the December 2024 expansion draft. Advertisement In her four appearances (two starts) this year, she's averaged 10.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals in 23.0 minutes per game. A decorated international talent, Zandalasini was a WNBA champion with the Minnesota Lynx in 2017, WNBA Commissioner's Cup champion (2024) and MVP of the 2016 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship. She has also won multiple Turkish league and cup titles with Fenerbahçe (2019, 2020, 2021) and an Italian Supercup crown (2023). Golden State Valkyries guard Tiffany Hayes (15) speaks to Yamashita-Imagn Images Zandalasini's departure will leave a 10-point-per-game scoring void at the small-forward spot and test Golden State's young depth. Management has signaled that Zandalasini will rejoin the roster immediately after Italy's EuroBasket run, but with eight games between now and the end of the month, she leaves a significant hole to fill. Tijjani Reijnders ‘really excited' to link up with Man City for Club World Cup
Tijjani Reijnders 'could not wait' to undergo his medical with Manchester City and expects to be in their squad for the Club World Cup. The 26-year-old Netherlands midfielder has agreed a five-year contract to move to City from AC Milan for 55million euros (approximately £46million) and told Italian media he had spent Sunday conducting a medical with Pep Guardiola's side. Advertisement City will play their first match of the Club World Cup against Morocco's Wydad AC on June 18 and the arrival of Reijnders could also impact the future of Jack Grealish at City. Reijnders told Gazzetta: 'The medical? I couldn't wait to do it. The plan is to take part at the Club World Cup with City. I'm really excited about that. 'Doing that means I'll get to know my new team-mates soon.' Reijnders was a bright spark in a disappointing season for Milan, who only finished eighth in Serie A, missing out on qualification for Europe. Manchester City's Jack Grealish could leave this summer (Martin Rickett/PA) Reijnders, who joined the Italian giants from AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2023, scored 15 goals in 2024-25 and will bolster Guardiola's midfield options following the departure of Kevin De Bruyne. Advertisement As first reported by the Daily Telegraph on Wednesday, England international Grealish looks set to miss out on City's final 35-man squad for the Club World Cup. The 29-year-old was not summoned from the bench in last month's FA Cup final defeat by Crystal Palace and omitted from the squad for the last game of the season at Fulham altogether.

Jannik Sinner Praised His Family, Calling Parents Johann & Siglinde 'Perfect'
The Italian tennis phenom Jannik Sinner has credited his family for helping him succeed on the tennis court. And succeed he has; Sinner prevailed in a thrilling semi-final match against tennis great Novak Djokovic, and he is competing in the French Open final against Carlos Alcaraz of Spain on June 8. Advertisement Sinner has opened up in the past about his parents' approach to raising him, praising them. 'I wish that everyone could have my parents because they always let me choose whatever I wanted to,' Jannik said when he won the Australian Open in 2024. That was his first Grand Slam title. Sinner told reporters that the support he has "from home" is very important to his success on the court. But he said he doesn't get to see his parents a lot now. He said when he does see them, it's a "great time." He left home at age 14 and had to grow up fast, cooking and doing laundry for himself. According to People, Sinner's dad Johann Sinner is a chef and his mom Siglinde Sinner is a former waitress. He was born in South Tyrol, Italy, and also has an older brother named Mark, People reported. His parents met at a ski lodge. Johann Sinner sometimes goes by the name Hanspeter Sinner. Italy's Jannik Sinner celebrates with his father Hanspeter Sinner after winning the final against USA's Taylor Fritz at the ATP Finals tennis tournament in Turin on November 17, to Sinner, he played other sports when he was younger, and "they never put pressure" on him, adding, 'I wish that this freedom is possible for as many young kids as possible." Advertisement He said that was the "key to why I am here today," describing himself as quiet and relaxed. They are the "perfect parents," Sinner said, also praising his brother, who he said "brings me honesty." After winning the U.S. Open in 2024, Sinner spoke about his family again and dealing with the pressures of professional tennis. "There were always the people who were close to me daily, people who know me already from when I was very young, and also my family and my team," he said. He said he always "tries to stick together with them" when moments get tough "because I know they can help me." Related: Jannik Sinner Said Model Lara Leito Isn't His Girlfriend.
