Supporters were hoping to see DeChambeau battle for first thanks to his popularity as the 'people's champ.'
But the two-time US Open winner suffered a backlash after a video showed him acting rudely towards an unpaid volunteer.
DeChambeau hit a wayward golf ball into the long grass over The Open weekend.
The mis-hit clearly irked him as he trudged his way over to find it.
And the 31-year-old took his irritation out on a volunteer who stood in the grass pointing to where the ball may have landed.
DeChambeau strutted over before dismissing the volunteer by saying: 'You can move out of the way.'
It certainly didn't go down well with supporters who had previously heralded DeChambeau as a man of the people.
He earlier delighted fans with a classy gesture by using his driver following groans over teeing off with an iron.
But DeChambeau's attitude to the volunteer was not greeted as warmly.
One supporter said: 'Treating a volunteer poorly will always suck.'
'People's champ' Bryson DeChambeau delights Open fans with classy gesture as they say 'how can you not love this guy?'
Another declared: 'Poor volunteer getting that treatment from someone who's supposed to be a professional and role model. Disgusting behaviour.'
One noted: 'Wow what a jerk.'
Another added: 'This is pathetic behaviour.'
However, other fans didn't see any issue with DeChambeau's actions.
One said: 'The volunteer just stood there like Happy Gilmore on the Waterbury first tee box.'
Another declared: 'Look at all these haters.'

Rays SS Ha-Seong Kim (back) placed on IL
July 26 - The Tampa Bay Rays placed shortstop Ha-Seong Kim on the 10-day injured list prior to Friday night's game against the Cincinnati Reds. Kim injured his lower back during Monday's 8-3 loss to the Chicago White Sox and hasn't played since. The move is retroactive to Tuesday. Tampa Bay activated outfielder Jonny DeLuca (right shoulder) from the 60-day IL in a corresponding move. DeLuca was injured in April. Kim, 29, has played in just 10 games with the Rays and is batting .226 with one homer and three RBIs in 31 at-bats. He played his first game for Tampa Bay on July 4 after recovering from offseason right shoulder surgery and a hamstring injury he sustained during his rehab. Kim signed a two-year, $29 million deal with the Rays in the offseason and was slated to be the team's starting shortstop. He is making $13 million this season and has a player option for $16 million in 2026. Kim tore the labrum while diving back to first base on Aug. 18 as a member of the San Diego Padres and missed the rest of the 2024 season. DeLuca, 27, last played for Tampa Bay on April 6. He batted .435 (10-for-23) with one RBI in nine games this season. DeLuca was expected to return in a matter of weeks but multiple setbacks pushed back the timetable. Tampa Bay also recalled left-hander Mason Montgomery from Triple-A Durham and designated right-hander Jacob Waguespack for assignment. Montgomery, 25, is 1-2 with a 5.74 ERA in 40 relief appearances for the Rays this season. The Rays had a roster opening because they optioned right-hander Taj Bradley (6-6, 4.61) to Durham on Thursday's off day. Waguespack, 31, was 1-0 with an 0.46 ERA in 15 relief outings for Durham. He was DFA'd to open up a 40-man roster spot for DeLuca. --Field Level Media

Red Sox place IF Marcelo Mayer (wrist) on IL, recall David Hamilton
July 25 - Boston Red Sox rookie Marcelo Mayer was placed on the 10-day injured list on Friday, retroactive to Thursday, as the infielder suffered a right wrist sprain. Infielder David Hamilton, who has played 62 games for the Red Sox in 2025, was recalled from Triple-A Worcester. Before Boston opened a three-game home series with the Los Angeles Dodgers, manager Alex Cora told reporters that Ceddanne Rafaela would see a lot of action at second base. Rafaela has been an outstanding defensive center fielder for Boston in 2025 and is hitting .271 with 14 home runs and 48 RBIs. Roman Anthony, Jarren Duran and Wilyer Abreu will comprise the outfield on most nights, according to Cora. Mayer made his major league debut vs. Baltimore on May 24 and cracked his first home run at Yankee Stadium on June 6. Through 44 games, he was slashing .228/.272/.402 with four home runs and 10 RBIs. Hamilton has spent three years in Boston, playing a career-high 98 games in 2024. This season, he is slashing .179/.229/.276 with three home runs and 12 RBIs in the major leagues. --Field Level Media
