Najib's RM27mil money laundering trial to proceed, AGC dismisses review request
KUALA LUMPUR: The RM27mil money laundering trial involving Datuk Seri Najib Razak and SRC International Sdn Bhd will proceed to a full trial, the High Court has announced.
This follows the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) dismissal of a representation sent by the former Pekan MP seeking a review of his charges.
During proceedings on Wednesday (June 11), Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Ashroff Adrin Kamarul informed Justice K. Muniandy that the AGC had rejected the representation.

On Feb 3, 2019, Najib claimed trial to three charges of money laundering by accepting proceeds from unlawful activities amounting to RM27mil through his three AmPrivate Banking accounts at AmIslamic Bank Berhad, AmBank Group Building, Jalan Raja Chulan on July 8, 2014, under Section 4(1)(a) of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act (AMLATFPUAA) 2001.
He faces a maximum fine of RM5mil or imprisonment of up to five years, or both, if convicted.

MACC nabs four for alleged NGO fund misappropriation
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested four individuals, including three committee members of a non-governmental organisation (NGO), on suspicion of conspiring to misappropriate funds belonging to the NGO where they work. According to a source, the suspects-two men and two women in their 30s-were arrested between 4pm and 7pm on Wednesday (June 11) when they came to give their statements at the MACC office in Melaka. "Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were believed to have committed the offence between 2015 and 2025. They are suspected of conspiring with the NGO chairman, who abused power and misappropriated funds for personal gain," the source said. Following the arrests, the MACC seized RM900,000 in cash, jewellery, nine land lots located in Melaka, Penang and Selangor, and four residential units in Melaka. Fourteen accounts-eight belonging to individuals and six to companies-with a total balance of about RM5mil were also frozen. Magistrate Nur Afiqah Radhiah Zainurin today granted a seven-day remand order until next Tuesday for all suspects, following an application made by the MACC at the Melaka Magistrate's Court. Her term was dominated by the Ukraine war, which plunged U.S.-Russia ties to a level described by the Kremlin last year as "below zero". SHMMP: 1,478 premises inspected in conjunction with Kaamatan, Gawai Dayak festivals
PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) inspected a total of 1,478 business premises nationwide during the Festive Season Maximum Price Control Scheme (SHMMP) in conjunction with the Kaamatan Festival and Gawai Day 2025. The SHMMP Kaamatan Festival was held from May 27 to June 2, while the SHMMP Gawai Day took place from May 29 to June 4. KPDN enforcement director-general Datuk Azman Adam said that throughout the implementation of the SHMMP Kaamatan Festival, a total of 667 inspections were conducted, with two legal actions taken against non-compliant traders. 'The legal action taken involves cases of failing to use the special pink price tags,' he said in a statement today. The implementation of the SHMMP Gawai Dayak involved 811 inspections, with nine legal actions taken against non-compliant traders, resulting in seizures worth RM1,647.40. Azman said that KPDN did not receive any complaints during the implementation of the SHMMP for both festivals, and the majority of the traders inspected were committed and complied with the maximum price regulations in force throughout the implementation of the scheme. A total of 10 items are covered under the SHMMP Kaamatan Festival, including large imported yellow onions and large imported red onions, while the SHMMP Gawai Day involved 11 types of items, including live old chickens, chicken wings, and imported round cabbage from Indonesia and China, except Beijing cabbage
