The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has extended the protective bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Faisal Javed until April 15, while issuing a notice to the federal government regarding the blocking of the petitioner's passport. The court has sought a response by March 17.
A two-member bench, comprising Justice Waqar Ahmed and Justice Sabitullah Khan, heard the petition filed by Faisal Javed, seeking details of the cases against him.
The petitioner's lawyer Alam Khan Adenzai Advocate told the court that the court granted protective bail at the last hearing, which stated March 15 instead of April 15. Faisal Javed is going for umrah. The order states that the bail has been granted until his return from umrah, to which Justice Waqar Ahmed granted protective bail till April 15.
Javed told the court that he is going for umrah and will return in a week, to which Justice Waqar Ahmed said that the Deputy Attorney General does not believe in him, the government loves him so much that he is not being allowed to leave the country.
The Deputy Attorney General told the court that they have complied with the court orders and they are not arresting him. Justice Waqar Ahmed said that they complied with the court orders that is why the petitioner is in the court. The court granted him protective bail till April 15.
The extension prevented the agencies from arresting him.

The Deputy Attorney General told the court that they had submitted a response. The petitioner's lawyer told the court that the petitioner wanted to go for umrah. His flight is today. There is a court decision that no one can be stopped from going out on the basis of FIRs.
The Deputy Attorney General told the court that they gave them the details two months ago.

TLP worker acquitted in 2021 rioting case

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday acquitted a Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) worker, Muhammad Nazak, in a 2021 case related to rioting, vandalism, and arson, after ruling that the prosecution failed to prove the charges. ATC Judge Arshad Javed presided over the case and announced the verdict after hearing detailed arguments from both the prosecution and defence. The defence counsel maintained that there was no solid evidence linking Nazak to the incident in question and requested the court to acquit him. The prosecution, however, opposed the plea, arguing that enough material was available to proceed. After reviewing the case record and arguments, the court ruled in favour of the defence and acquitted the accused. Muhammad Nazak had been declared a proclaimed offender in the case and remained on the run for three years. He was currently on interim bail and appeared in court for the hearing. The FIR was registered at Sherakot Police Station in 2021 against several TLP workers in connection with violent protests led by the party. The charges included rioting, vandalism, and arson under the Anti-Terrorism Act. Several other co-accused in the case were previously acquitted in earlier court proceedings.

A total of 120 PTI leaders and workers have had their properties confiscated. Read More: PTI's Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz sentenced to up to 10 years in May 9 cases On May 9, 2023, PTI lawmakers and supporters staged violent protests across the country in response to the arrest of party founder Imran Khan. The protests involved vandalism of military installations and state-owned buildings, including the Corps Commander's house in Lahore. The case involves charges against 53 accused individuals, including prominent PTI lawmakers such as opposition leaders Omar Ayub (National Assembly) and Malik Ahmad Khan Bhachar (Punjab Assembly). However, two accused, Ayub and Ziaul Haq, initially absconded during their statements under Section 342 of the CrPC. Additionally, 50 other accused fled during the final arguments, leading to their case being separated from that of the remaining accused after proclamations were issued. The ATC judge noted that attempts appeared to be made to delay the proceedings by these absconders, potentially indicating deliberate efforts to prolong the decision of the case.
