STP stages rally against open sale of narcotics

The Sindh Taraqipasand Party (STP) on Sunday organised a protest rally and demonstration in Sujawal against the growing narcotics trade and prolonged electricity load-shedding in the district. The STP Sujawal chapter led a rally from Mamoon Laddu Chowk to the Public Park, where a large number of party leaders, workers, and citizens joined in. Participants chanted slogans against drug peddlers and power outages. Key STP leaders, including Sujawal district president Juman Sindhi, Abdul Ghani Mallah, Abdul Wahid Khasakheli, Mumtaz Laghari, Gul Hassan Rind, Ashraf Theem, and Thatta district leaders Syed Jalal Shah, Tariq Amar Abbasi, and Rajo Qureshi addressed the gathering. Local office-bearers and citizens also participated in large numbers. The speakers expressed serious concern over rising drug addiction among youth, including alcohol, ice, heroin, mawa, and Indian gutka, calling it a major public health and crime issue. They criticised law enforcement agencies for their inaction and alleged that narcotics are being sold openly without fear of accountability. They warned that if swift action is not taken, the protest campaign would be intensified across the region. The demonstrators also condemned the prolonged, unannounced power outages in Sujawal amid sweltering heat, accusing HESCO officials of negligence and indifference. STP leaders warned that if electricity supply was not stabilised soon, they would besiege HESCO offices in protest.
