Enquiry after primary pupil takes knife into school
A school has contacted police over allegations that a primary school pupil threatened other children with a knife.
It is claimed the Year Six pupil at Bridge Learning Campus in Hartcliffe, Bristol, confronted other children after lessons on Friday.
No one was injured in the incident, with a spokesperson for the school telling the BBC "immediate action" was taken "in line with our established safeguarding procedures".
They added that cases like this were "incredibly rare" and would be treated with the "utmost seriousness", with parents encouraged to contact the school directly with any concerns.

Manhunt as schoolgirl, 15, raped in underpass near London shopping centre
Police are investigating the rape of a 15-year-old schoolgirl in an underpass close to an east London shopping centre. The youngster was attacked in St Edwards Way, Romford, around 11.35pm on Sunday. She is now being supported by specialist officers and the Metropolitan Police has stepped up patrols near The Brewery shops and leisure district. Forensic teams have cordoned off the underpass, including the entrances on London Road and High Street. Havering Councillor David Taylor said he has written to senior police and called for an urgent public meeting. He added: 'I am devastated by the news, which will leave many women feeling afraid to walk alone in our town and I pray for justice for the woman assaulted.' No arrests have been made. A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: 'On Sunday, June 22 at 11.36pm police were called to St Edwards Way, Romford to reports a girl had been raped. 'Officers attended and assisted the victim, a 15-year-old girl. 'She is currently being treated by specialist officers. A crime scene currently remains in place. 'We understand the concern this has caused in the community and people can expect to see an increased police presence in the area.'

Teens taken to hospital with serious injuries after 'car flips eight times'
Two teenagers suffered serious injuries following a two-car crash. Lancashire Police were called to Rainford Road in Bickerstaffe at around 11pm on Sunday, June 22. A woman in her late teens and a man in his late teens were taken to hospital with serious injuries, police said. The woman remains in hospital at the time of writing. A third person suffered minor injuries, a spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service said. He described how one car "tried to do a U-turn" on the road and crashed into another car which was travelling on the other side of the carriageway. He added: "The car was put into a spin. It hit the lamppost and then it flipped seven or eight times before coming to a rest." A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "At around 11pm on Sunday, June 22, we were called to reports of a collision between 2 cars on Rainford Road, Bickerstaffe. "Emergency services attended and a woman in her late teens and a man in his late teens were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The woman remains in hospital at this time." Bears get paws on the honey in UK wildlife park escape
Two young bears escaped from their enclosure at a UK wildlife park and devoured a week's worth of food store honey before falling asleep, the attraction said on Tuesday. Mish and Lucy, both aged four, got out of their enclosure at Wildwood Devon in southwestern England on Monday afternoon. The pair made a beeline for their food store where they scoffed snack's including the seven-day supply of honey, a park statement said. The bears "posed no threat to the public at any point" although visitors on site were escorted to a secure building as a precaution. During the hour-long drama, the bears were "continuously monitored both on the ground and via CCTV" until they were returned to their enclosure by keepers and promptly "fell asleep", Wildwood added. Police attended the scene and an investigation was underway to determine how the animals managed to break out, it said. The park spread across 40 acres (160 hectares) of gardens and woodland is home to an array of wildlife including brown bears, wolves and arctic foxes.
