
BAS honours over 160 employees
Held on Thursday, 22 May 2025, at the Movenpick Hotel Bahrain, the event was organized to honor employees who had completed 10 to 35 years of service at the organization, demonstrating exceptional loyalty and professionalism in their work.
The ceremony was attended by BAS Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Mohamed Khalil Ahmed, along with members of BAS's Trade Union representatives.

BAS Announces its Aircraft Engineer Course Registration for 2025 Intake
Bahrain Airport Services (BAS), the leading aviation service provider in Bahrain, is pleased to announce the opening of the registration for the 2025 intake at BAS Aircraft Engineering Training Centre (BAETC). The center offers the internationally recognized EASA Part-66 B1/B2 Aircraft Engineer License course. As the first training organization in the Middle East and Asia to receive the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) approval (EASA.147.0002), BAETC is also approved by the Civil Aviation Affairs and the Education and Training Quality Authority (BQA) in the Kingdom of Bahrain to continue delivering advanced training programs. Commenting on the announcement, Mr. Ahmed Alkooheji, Manager – Engineering Training stated: 'The EASA Part-66 B1/B2 License course is a fully approved Part-147 program, offering specialized training in both B1 and B2 categories. Each stream requires a total of 2,400 guided learning hours over a two-year period. Our training is delivered through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on workshops, simulations, and a 10-week on-the-job training (OJT) placement at BAS's EASA Part-145 approved maintenance facility where It is a competitive advantage, as this training is a requirement for obtaining an aircraft maintenance license. It provides trainees with the opportunity to gain internationally recognized field experience that qualifies them to work as aircraft maintenance engineers worldwide.' Throughout the two-year theoretical program, students will complete a comprehensive set of modules, including Mathematics, Physics, Electrical & Electronic Fundamentals, Digital Techniques, Maintenance Practices, Aerodynamics, Aviation Legislation, Aircraft Systems, and Gas Turbine Engines among others. Bahrain Airport Services (BAS) announced the completion of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) regulatory audit, which covered functions including the Line Maintenance Department (EASA-145), the BAS Aircraft Engineering Training Center (BAETC) (EASA-147), and the Quality Assurance Department under both EASA-145 and EASA-147 certifications. Among the key outcomes was the additional approval of BAS Line Maintenance to include Boeing B787 and the extension of Boeing B777 maintenance scope. The audit confirmed BAS Line Maintenance capabilities to cover a wide range of aircraft operated by European airlines through Bahrain International Airport (BIA), including the Airbus A320 (CEO and NEO), A330, Boeing B737 (NG and MAX), B777, B747s, and Embraer aircraft, along with their associated engines.

The audit reaffirmed BAS's compliance with the EASA's rigorous standards, particularly in the areas of quality, compliance systems, and operational performance. Among the key outcomes was the additional approval of BAS Line Maintenance to include Boeing B787 and the extension of Boeing B777 maintenance scope. The audit confirmed the continuous oversight of BAS Line Maintenance capabilities to cover a wide range of aircraft operated by European airlines through Bahrain International Airport (BIA), including the Airbus A320 (CEO and NEO), A330, Boeing B737 (NG and MAX), B777, B747s, and Embraer aircraft, along with their associated engines. This expanded and continued approval enables BAS to broaden its maintenance services across both regional and international carriers, further strengthening its position as a leading aviation hub. Additionally, BAS Aircraft Engineering Training Centre (BAETC) which is the second foreign training center approved by EASA has recently obtained approval to conduct EASA Type Rating Courses for the Airbus A320 NEO, adding to its existing Type Rating courses for the Airbus A320 CEO and Airbus A330 aircraft. The recent audit reaffirmed BAETC's ongoing EASA Part-147 approval, which includes the comprehensive EASA-66 B1 & B2 Basic Training Programs. This achievement underscores BAETC's continued dedication to excellence in aviation training and regulatory compliance, significantly contributing to the development of a highly skilled aviation maintenance engineering workforce both regionally and internationally.
