Pogba: ‘I will always love Juventus, Agnelli showed support'

Yahoo11-07-2025
Paul Pogba assures he 'will always love Juventus' after resuming his career with AS Monaco, but feels only Andrea Agnelli and Giorgio Chiellini really stood by him during his doping ban.
The midfielder signed a two-year contract with Monaco as a free agent last week, having been released by Juve in November 2024.

Following a series of injuries, he failed a drug test in August 2023 and was given a four-year ban for doping, which was reduced on appeal to 18 months in October 2024.

Having previously complained that Juventus had not shown him sufficient 'support' during the two-year ordeal, Pogba struck a more conciliatory tone during today's press conference.
'I always loved and always will love Juventus. This club helped me become what I am today,' said the France international.
'Many things happened, some people have their own way of doing things. There were some things I liked, others that I did not.

'I will never disrespect the club. I am happy today and I think they are too. So let us look forward, without wanting to wage battles.'

Pogba also pointed out that the previous President, who left during a financial irregularities scandal in 2022, was one of the few at Juventus that continually stood by him.
'Agnelli sent me messages and would call me up, this is called support. When you do not receive calls from people within the club, you do not have support.
'I am not saying it is the wrong way of doing things, just a different way of seeing them. Chiellini, who arrived later, sent me messages, as did other Bianconeri players.'

The 32-year-old is hoping to revitalise his career at AS Monaco after two different stints at both Juventus and Manchester United.
'I said a year ago that I was not dead. Now I am thinking about the future and not the past.'

Nikola Jokić cries tears of joy, takes champagne shower after his horse wins race in Serbia

Much was made about Nikola Jokić's stoic reaction to winning the 2023 NBA championship. This is not that. Jokić, whose love of his horses is well-documented, watched one of them win a race in his home country of Serbia on Sunday. Arena Sport TV documented the action and Jokić's reaction in a video that the Nuggets shared Sunday afternoon. Jokić let the emotions fly. [Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2025 NFL season] After his horse crossed the finish line, Jokić put his head in his hands in tears. He then hopped a fence to access the track, still in tears as he approached his horse and his jockey with his arms wide open. He then shared a hug with the jockey and gave his horse a pat on the back. The tears kept flowing as he walked with his team to the celebration circle. There, Jokić was in charge of the magnum bottle of champagne. He popped the cork, then sprayed down his team, horse included. He then proceeded to pour champagne on the heads of his team members while saving the final champagne shower for himself. It was a display of unbridled joy. Cue up Jokić's stoic reaction in the immediate aftermath of leading the Denver Nuggets to the NBA championship in 2023: "It's good," Jokić told ESPN when asked how it feels to win his first championship. "The job is done. We can go home now." This reaction resulted in jokes about how much Jokić does or doesn't care about basketball. Which were, of course, silly. Jokić has been the best basketball player in the world for several years running. He's a three-time MVP and a two-time Olympic medalist in addition to being an NBA champion. Of course he cares about about basketball. A lot. One doesn't reach his level without caring. And he did let his guard down in the ensuing celebrations in the Nuggets locker room ... : ... and again during Denver's championship parade: But it's fair to say that Jokić's love for his horses and their racing success holds an unparalleled place in his heart. Nothing — at least in public — seems to come close.

Terry Bradshaw, Aaron Rodgers Do Not Agree Politically

Terry Bradshaw, Aaron Rodgers Do Not Agree Politically originally appeared on The Spun. Terry Bradshaw and Aaron Rodgers have some drama brewing heading into the 2025 season. Bradshaw, a four-time Super Bowl champion, made it clear that he wasn't a big fan of Rodgers, who signed with his Pittsburgh Steelers. Bradshaw said earlier this year that he wished Rodgers would just stay in California and "chew" on some bark. "That's a joke. That to me is just a joke," Bradshaw said of Pittsburgh's interest in Rodgers on 103.7 The Buzz back in May. "What are you gonna do? Bring him in for one year, are you kidding me? "That guy needs to stay in California. Go somewhere and chew on bark and whisper to the gods out there." Rodgers, meanwhile, responded to Bradshaw at training camp over the weekend. His response was pretty classy. "I've known Terry for a long time, being a part of FOX," Rodgers said, speaking to NFL Network's Kyle Brandt. "Terry's a legend. He's an absolute legend. He won four Super Bowls. He's had a legendary career in the media. "But Terry, like a lot of people, doesn't know me. So he's got an idea of what he thinks about me based on what I've done, the documentary, what I've said, darkness retreat, whatever the hell you want to talk about." While Rodgers and Bradshaw might have a lot in common on the football field, they've said pretty different things politically over the years. Bradshaw announced that he left the Republican Party, choosing to be an independent. He criticized President Trump, too. 'I've been a Republican, but now I'm a registered independent. I don't want to alienate anyone, and the minute you say, 'I'm a Democrat' or 'I'm Republican,' you're kicking off the other side. I want the best person [in the White House], and I'll pick the one who's most like the way I feel,' he announced. Bradshaw took issue with how President Trump criticized NFL players for kneeling for the anthem. "This is America. If our country stands for anything, folks, it's freedom. People died for that freedom. I'm not sure if our President understands those rights—that every American has the right to speak out and to protest. Believe me, these athletes do love this great country of ours," Bradshaw stated. He added: "Personally, I think our President should concentrate on North Korea and healthcare rather than ripping into athletes and the NFL." Rodgers, meanwhile, has shown his support for President Trump over the years, even posting a photo of himself shaking hands with POTUS on social media. He said it was "priceless." Rodgers has said that he would like to get to know Bradshaw, so hopefully that'll happen before the 2025 NFL season. But the duo might have some disagreements in the world of politics.
